    October 7 Show was great!

by vancouvertosecaucus on 2010-10-15Minskoff Theatre - New York

Girlfriend and I have never been toa broadway or any theatre event before, so our expectations were low. We arrived 15 minutes, and passed through ticketing quicly. The Minskoff theatre looked great decorated in the Lion King theme. Show started ontime, in a mostly packed house. We sat in row w, center-ish, orchestra. Seats allowed us to see all going on, in detail. Acting was amazing! The show opened with the circle of life, in which the actors came down both isles! The costumes were colorful, detailed and stood out. Not quite appropriate for very young children (< 5 years), as it is a stylized broadway show which is obviously presented differently than the cartoon movie. However, there were some children (e.g. 5-10 years) in the audience who appeared to enjoy the play. The first act (appx. 80-90 mins) was longer than the second half (appx. 1 hour) You can bring in your own drinks (e.g. water). Overall a great experience.

    Excellent

by Towner on 2010-08-17Minskoff Theatre - New York

Great show for all ages. We enjoyed the show in Calgary, Alberta but I have to say that the one in New York was just that much better (a lot easier when you are in the same theatre and don't have to change venues every few days). Thanks for a great show.

This Broadway show is the most amazing show I've seen to date. I've been to over 20 Broadway musicals in the past few years. The actors, costumes, music, sets, sound and lighting were outstanding. It was well worth the ticket price and I reccomend asile seats for anybody buying tickets to the Lion King. It's a must see show!

    Fantastic - LOVED!

by TeenBoy on 2010-07-03Minskoff Theatre - New York

Costumes were phenomenal, stuck close to the movie plot but way better. Show contained comedy - audience LOL'd. Less singing than movie, and music added to show. AMAZING percussion dudes. Just go - you'll love it!

Great, but depending on where you are seated

by etondin81 on 2010-06-30Minskoff Theatre - New York

This is one of the best musicals I've ever seen. Every time I come to New York, it is a must-to-do program. There are, of course, substitute performers which some acts even better than the titular, but unfortunatelly some acts worser. The show is amazing and unforgetable even if these inconsistencies. I would never indicate you to buy seats located under the mezzanine, the audio comes from the sides which is terrible. Go, you wont regret it, it is awsome.

I was in town (NYC) for two and a half days and had to pack in everything. My visit included top-notch performances by the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Darcy James Argue's Secret Society Big Band and other fantastic groups, filled with world-class players. The Lion King was intended to be a light diversion from the serious stuff, a chance to see something fun that would never appear in my mid-sized city. I wasn't expecting to be so overwhelmed by the music and, specifically, the performance of Tshidi Manye as Rafiki. Manye's performance was riveting, her use of tone colour and vocal effects was unreal at times and the emotional impact of her vocalisations was powerful. The sets and costumes were creative and cool, transforming the human actors into their animal counterparts. I would strongly recommend this production to anyone.

Everyone told me I would love this show. I never thought I would love it this much. The first 5 minutes almost brought me to tears so in short....do not be late. You will regret missing the opening number. The singing was outstanding. Always something going on the stage. It was just fantastic.

The Lion King New York... an evening of fun!

by piceseas on 2010-05-27Minskoff Theatre - New York

This was my first live performance experience... and why not let my first time be on Broadway! I thoroughly enjoyed the Lion King NY, the performers were awesome, the costumes amazing, great music and singing, even a few laughs... I was never bored. Truly an all ages experience and I would recommend to anyone. I loved that the performers were right with is in the audience at different points. You are no longer required to dress formal, even the evening performances are smart casual dress. Everyone seemed to have a great view of the stage in the Minskoff Theatre. I am happy to have had the experience in my short time in New York City.

by blairering on 2010-04-26Minskoff Theatre - New York

Took my son for his 21st birthay to new york. we are from montreal. saw stomp the night before. awesome incredible. 1st time i ever saw a broadway performance and left dissapointed. costumes, staging, lighting all great. besides the monkey who was inspiring, the rest of the cast seemed off and were not putting their heart and soul into. The children were mediocre and stiff. the 2nd act was better.
