An experience decades in the making

by EdT on 2023-10-14The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This show was a real treat. I've been a fan of The Mission since '87 and just never had a time to see them. So when these shows were announced more than a year ago (with The Chameleons and Theatre of Hate, no less), I quickly bought a ticket for the show in Chicago at Thalia Hall. Circumstance took me to the Toronto area so I had to miss the Chicago show, and I thankfully managed to catch them at The Danforth instead. All three bands were in peak form and TOH were a revelation, the albums sound so tinny and they sounded so powerful live. The Chameleons sounded absolutely amazing, the guitars were chiming and Mark's bellow was powerful and clear. Personally, I thought that the sound mix on The Mission could have used a little bit more bottom end and I could have used a bit more of Wayne's guitar. Nonetheless, the band were in great form and played so many of my personal favourites that it's hard to complain. I never truly appreciated how much the Sisters of Mercy guitar sound came over with Wayne, so hearing that spidery vintage gothic sound was truly a treat. I hope that all three bands can keep going, would see each of them in a heartbeat.

Had been waiting years to see these guys and Chameleons. Would go see both again next week if they were playing here.

The last time I saw them was at Massey Hall, I believe it was 33 years ago! Wayne's voice is still perfect, I am so glad I didn't miss this show đŸ„°

3 great bands gave superb performances! Chameleons we’re the highlight for me, a privilege to see Mark and Reg together on stage.

    #1 Show!

by Gee on 2023-10-11The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

The Mission UK and The Chameleons show (together with Theatre Of Hate) was AWESOME! Personally spoke (and had photo selfie) with Chameleons vocalist Mark Burgess and he told me he will sing/ perform the song “Tears” (which is my favorite) next tome they do North American shows.

Row KK, seats 23 and 24 - Great Value Show!

by Gothik Punk on 2023-10-11The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Venue not being downtown T.O. is a big plus. For this show, half of the venue was floor/standing audience and half the venue was seating. We were balcony Row KK, seats 23 and 24, which was second row balcony, center. It has a much more intimate feeling/experience than a large venue and tickets were only around $40 each. All 3 bands were very entertaining and Mission UK were excellent. Looking forward to more shows at Danforth Music Hall!
