  • Very nice

by Claudia on 2019-12-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Beautiful costumes, so much talent, loved the music and the performances, but I must admit I was a little disappointed as I was expecting a Christmas theme

  • Disappointed

by Gail on 2019-12-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

My mom and daughter had a Half full glass of wine for $11 each - that is incredibly expensive . The group of 3 beside me cane in late and the ballet had already begun , then they let in another group behind us after that! The group beside us had a child that ate snacks through the entire performance and crinkled the packages the whole time. Last but not least, the man behind us hummed every song and at the end clapped louder than I had ever heard in my life - it gave me a headache and my mother had to turn off her hearing aid . It was difficult to see the stage over people’s heads in front. The dancers were great , the show was interesting but the venue and other guests ruined it for me.

  • Poor and boring

by Sarah on 2019-12-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

A waste of money. I know the story well and have seen it multiple times. This version was confusing for anyone new. I’m so sad this was my children’s introduction to the ballet. The sets were boring and almost non-existent. It felt as if every expense had been spared. The music wasn’t loud enough and it didn’t feel as if the dancers had any feel for the music or their roles. They were like automatons. Honestly, staging by your aunt Mildred and her beige paint pot, lighting by the Gestapo. Save your money.

  • Good, but not great

by Lou on 2019-12-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

The music was beautiful and the dancers were enthusiastic! My niece loved the show and was excited by the chance to meet a Nutcracker beforehand. However, the sets were not as extravagant or detailed as I have previously seen and many of the performers made errors in their dancing. It was a good show, but I don’t feel it was amazing (which I expected based on the prices).

Have been going every year since 2006 and absolutely love it!!! It was a tradition for my mom and I, and now we have added my daughter :)

  • A MUST SEE!!

by S.M. on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely amazing - So much talent <3 My daughter and I had a great experience; We will be going back for years to come!

  • Choreography fell flat

by CK on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The dancers were excellent and costumes were superb. The music was lovely. What happened to the choreography-it felt completely flat, underwhelming and very uninspired. I was very surprised at the principle dancer’s role. The choreography could have given her an opportunity to shine but it didn’t! A very sleepy performance that could use a new talent to liven it up.

  • The nutcracker

    by S. W. on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The place was too warm an the sale items were overpriced for the quality I purchased three nutcracker for $30 in one of the wood is already chipping and so is the paint overall great experience for my 11-year-old

  • Spectacular

by Christine on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The Nutcracker is of course a perennial season favorite. While of course the Alberta Ballet is spectacular, the Edmonton Symphony Orchesta steals the show. A rsre opportunity to hear live orchestral music with ballet in Alberta.

  • Fabulous

by Minnie on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

The dancing was awesome. The costumes were awesome. The music was awesome. The intermission was too short for the lineups and we had little girls with us who thought it went on too long.

  • Great show, not great venue

by KD on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed the show (what I could see of it anyways). However the seating at the jube was terrible. I was in the first balcony and had 2 tall men sitting in front of me. I'm not short, but they completely blocked the stage. The problem is the seats aren't staggered and the rows aren't high enough behind one another. I know this has nothing to do with the show, but hopefully next time it takes place at a different venue

  • Great Family Tradition

by Nadja on 2019-12-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Overall the performance was good, and is a nice family tradition. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra was fantastic and I wish more recognition was given to them. We missed the Shumka dancers that they had last year for the candy cane dance, and in my opinion the Chinese tea and Arabian coffee dances need their costumes and dances updated. They are outdated and a bit offensive.

  • Magnificent Christmas tradition

by Kate on 2019-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

The Jubilee is a very comfy, classy venue. On entry children could be photographed in the magical sleigh with a princess- a scene from the ballet. The Nutcracker Ballet was just lovely. A mixture of a storyline and wonderful dance - captivating for all ages.

  • I thought it was beautiful!

by Tina on 2019-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the whole performance. For an opening night, it was quite polished. The show is magical. The dancing beautiful. There were ALOT of empty seats however. Maybe the price is too high?

  • Surprising

by Family Suchy on 2019-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I’ve ever been to the ballet. My daughter takes ballet and tap and I wanted to show her a full production. She enjoys dancing so much. She enjoyed watching the ballet. It inspired her.
