About

The Rolling Stones are one of the most influential and longest-lasting bands to cross over during the ’60s British Invasion. The group stands as one of the best-selling acts of all time with 200 million records sold worldwide, and is responsible for two of the highest-grossing tours of all time within the last two decades. Blending blues and rock, the first main lineup of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts broke out in 1965 with their first chart-topping album Out of Our Heads and back-to-back Hot 100 No. 1 singles “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction” and “Get Off of My Cloud.” The group topped the Hot 100 again with 1966’s “Paint It, Black,” 1967’s “Ruby Tuesday” and 1969’s “Honky Tonk Women.” With the addition of guitarist Mick Taylor, The Rolling Stones released their second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with 1971’s Sticky Fingers, kicking off a streak of eight consecutive chart-topping debuts through 1981’s Tattoo You. Ronnie Wood made his debut as Taylor’s full-time replacement with 1978’s Some Girls, which hosted the group’s Hot 100 No. 1 “Miss You.” The Rolling Stones were the recipients of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. They collected their first of three career Grammy Awards in 1995. The group broke the record for highest-grossing tour in 1990 and reclaimed the top spot in 1995 and 2007, becoming the only band to headline the highest-grossing tour of the decade twice. The No Filter World Tour from 2017 to 2021 closed as the fifth highest-earning tour ever. Most recently, the band released their first album of original material in 18 years, 2023’s Hackney Diamonds.

second time seeing them and still great

by markerin on 2013-05-15MGM Grand Hotel - Las Vegas

We saw the Stones in the early 80's in Seattle and they put on a fabulous show then, very flamboyant . This time just as great but 30 plus years on. Jagger has more energy at 70 than I have at 57. And he can still sing.

The Rolling Stones was the BEST Show Ever!

by Beefycrunch on 2012-12-17Prudential Center - Newark

Best show I have ever seen hands down. I have seen over 150 shows and this one was better than Rush, AC DC, Roger Waters, B.B.King, The Temptations, The Eagles or any other show. The light show was unreal, the guests where prime, the stage presence was mind blowing! 12 out of 10 for sure! From a Minnesotan from Canada to come down just for a concert was saying high hopes and they delivered.

Rolling Stones wrap up 2012 on a high note

by tarryrob on 2012-12-16Prudential Center - Newark, NJ

The Rolling Stones finished 2012 on a high note, treating the capacity crowd last night (12/15/12) in Newark, N.J. at the Prudential Center to a star-studded 2-½ hour rockathon. The event, which was also telecast via satellite and streamed online worldwide as a pay-per-view event, was the final show in their “50 and Counting” mini-tour, celebrating their 50th anniversary in the music industry. The “Satisfaction” hitmakers jammed hard with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Lady Gaga got down with frontman Mick Jagger for a sweaty duet on The Stones’ 1969 classic “Gimme Shelter” and stuck around to dance and party with the crowd afterwards. Guitar slingers John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr. traded riffs with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood on Don Nix’s blues classic "Goin' Down.” Rock duo The Black Keys sat in on a smoking version of Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” Hometown hero Bruce Springsteen joined Sir Mick for a rough and ready vocal workout of the 1972 “Exile on Main St.” hit “Tumbling Dice.” Despite all the star power present, it was The Rolling Stones themselves that created the biggest waves, powering through hit after hit while proving to all and sundry why they are called “The World’s Greatest Rock n’ Roll Band.” Despite entering their sixth decade in show business, the band showed no signs of coasting or slowing down, rocking through a 2½ hour set (their longest show to date), which highlighted 23-songs from all eras of their colourful career. The Stones covered the gamut from early 60s era hits such as “Get Off of My Cloud” and “The Last Time” to the brand new tracks “Doom and Gloom” and “One More Shot,” with the old songs receiving as much enthusiasm and intensity as the new. For long-time Rolling Stones fans, the highlight of the evening might have been the reappearance of ex-Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, who joined his former bandmates for a sizzling version of “Midnight Rambler.” The Stones have not officially announced any shows for 2013, but a note appeared briefly Friday under the ‘Tour’ section on the band's mobile app, listing “Coachella 2013” on April 12, 2013 and was removed shortly thereafter. Jagger teased fans concerned that this might have been their final concert ever, saying, "This is our last show (pregnant pause)….of the 50th Anniversary tour." He then added, "we hope to see you again soon."

The Rolling Stones Deliver Waves of 'Satisfaction!

by tarryrob on 2011-10-04Mosaic Stadium - Regina, SK

The Rolling Stones’ Bigger Bang tour unfortunately bypassed Winnipeg, but the new owners of Mosaic Stadium in Regina pulled off a coup by landing the Stones for the very first time in Regina’s history for two sold out shows. I was fortunate enough to land tickets for the Friday show (10/6/06), which sold out almost instantly. When I arrived in Regina on concert day, the impression was that God or the Queen had landed there. Huge spotlights which could be seen for miles, blazed above the stadium, heralding the band’s arrival. Over the course of two shows – 80,00 plus fans (does Regina have 80,000 people?) would file into the stands to be met by an imposing 98 foot high stage (the biggest built and as high as the stadium’s grandstand) accompanied by the world’s largest portable jumbotron. The stadium looked like a mini city and the excitement was palpable. Three Days Grace opened the show with a tight energetic short set to luke warm reception. They performed well, but there was no question who the overwhelming majority of fans came to see. The warm up act finished as darkness enveloped the field. After a few technical delays, the stadium lights darkened and the crowd roared. Booming fireworks lit up the night sky; smoke blanketed the entire stage; the jumbotron flashed 3D space images as the Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards strode onstage to a thunderous ovation and weaved through the instantly familiar opening riffs of “Jumping Jack Flash.” Another massive roar ensued as showman extraordinaire Mick Jagger burst through the fog, swaggering and gesticulating wildly as the rest of the Stones emerged. The bad boys of rock and roll punched their way through material culled from the entire gamut of their forty-four year history - from early Brian Jones era hits like “Get Off Of My Cloud,” to Mick Taylor era chestnuts like “Midnight Rambler” as well tracks from their new CD “A Bigger Bang.” The Stones finished the night with “Start Me Up” segueing into their “Sticky Fingers” smash hit “Brown Sugar.” For their encore, they returned to perform the haunting “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” followed by Keith Richards leading the band out with (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. Like the great blues artists that they themselves admire such as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, and John Lee Hooker – the Rolling Stones – like vintage wine – seem to improve with age. As a result, “satisfaction” was had by all.
