It was a great show! And a great place to see the Hip!
I have to say, I am NOT a big Hip fan. I mean, I have most of their CDs and I do tend to turn the radio up in the car when one of their songs comes on, but I don't listen to them all that much at home. But seeing them live at Massey Hall was, simply, amazing and one of the best concert experiences I have ever had. If there's a better front man in Canadian music, I'd like to know who it is. Gord Downie is captivating. He has an almost hypnotic effect on you, as you watch is every (frenetic, sometimes spastic) move. In fact, maybe he DID hypnotize me and get me to write this FIVE star review!
Seen the Hip 10-12 times and by far this was the best. I think all future shows should be in a smaller venue like Massey Hall. I felt more involved in the show. I have always been a HUGE fan and will continue to be always!! Well done boyz!
the tragically hip were awesome. gord downie is a god. i just wish i was more familiar with their newer stuff.
The band was in fine form - Gord brought a "summer theme" to the show, which made it alot of fun. Great venue for them - audience really got into it. Great setlist, sound was amazing. I've seen the Hip many times, and this was one of the best shows I've been to.
Great show as always the band was unforgettable! Awesome intimate venue!
As usual, The Tragically Hip rocked the house..or big 'ol barn if you will ;) Whether they were rocking their old stuff, or shouting out the new it was just perfect! I've been to many of the Hip's concerts and have never been disappointed. Massey Hall was a great venue to see the boys show off their talents, great acoustics and a very personal setting. Just an amazing show leaving thier fans wanting more :) HIP HIP HIP HIP HIP HIP HIP HIP
Best venu i ever saw them at they Killed IT Loved the Show
Purchased tickets for my husband as a birthday present. He loves listening to the Hip, although I was not really familiar with their music. We had fantastic seats 3 rows from the front.-the audience went wild, and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I was not as enthusiatic but thoroughly enjoyed watching the loyalty of the audience. My husband was a little disappointed in the bands song selections. But all in all it was a good night.
This was an amazing show put on by The Tragically Hip. It was the 3rd and final show that I saw of theirs during their 6 show stay at massey hall. It was also the best of the 3 performances in my opinion and it happened to fall on my 20th birthday. Great setlist, good mix of old and new, and it was very nice to see songs like yawning or snarling and tiger the lion for the first time and the encore was epic starting with ahead by a century. Overall definitely one of the best hip shows I've ever seen.
This was my first Tragically Hip concert. I'd been given to expect a lot of energy and audience connection - and they did deliver on that (good job guys!) Some of their new stuff is great, and I heard some of their older stuff for the first time. The sound/acoustics were not what I had come to expect from Massey Hall. Not sure what was at fault - Blue Rodeo, who I saw a few months earlier at the Hall, was superb and sounded great. Of course, they have different strengths. My criticisms would be song choices. On the night I attended, they didn't play Bobcaygeon (BAD CHOICE) and they inexplicably did a slowed down version of Courage. I appreciate it when bands try to change some things up a little - but that was the wrong song. What a waste,
What an amazing show.....the feel of Massey Hall was great. I hope the Hip continue to do these types of shows. Well done lads!
every Canadian should go and see the hip at least once in their lives, in my opinion. And Massey Hall is the place to see them. It's a great venue and Gordy definitely puts on a fantastic show!
Well what can I say, the Hip was amazing again! I have never been to a Hip show that they haven't performed to there highest ability, and this show was no different.
The sound was true to the Hip ,I guess they can't play all thier hits.Wish I was at the show when Alex played for the encore...........
Massey Hall, was a terrific indoor venue. The Tragically Hip know how to perform such an intimate show. Every song they performed was over the top. Gord is an amazing entertainer. I love every minute of a Tragically Hip Concert. Each one is unique even if they play the same songs! The interaction with the tight crowd was awesome. The venue was nice, small, and intimate, Anywhere you sat, you could see the stage. Although I would recommend having a screen to look at, at times. But Again...IT was amazing! I love the Tragically HIP.....Every time!
These are guys amazing! They played all the hits and showed there having fun doing it! Always great to see a band enjoying them selves!
The show was great . the only down fall was the lak of good beer and that the sale of it was stoped by 1030 but the 4 of us had a great time and we will be going to massy for more shows soon>
Absolutely love seeing shows at Massey Hall. To get the chance to see such a huge Canadian band like The Tragically Hip, in such an intimate setting is a rare treat. The Hip were early into their tour, but definitely getting their feet beneath them. Their energy and enjoyment were easily apparent to the crowd and immediately reciprocated. They ran through a laundry list of past favourites and rare gems as well as introduced us to many of their new songs. But for me, the star of the show was the venue. Massey Hall is, and always will be, THE place to see a show in Toronto.
