The Weeknd is a real performer!!

by Teekee on 2012-11-07Sound Academy - Toronto

The Weeknd is an amazing performer. He really knows how to work the crowd and get people moving and singing along with him. The quality of his voice and talent is apparent in his live performance, no auto tunes needed lol. His band is in point!!! Ricky is sick on drums (as usual) and Peter kills the guitar. I love that he gives them thier moments to shine!

    The Weeknd Nov 4th!

by Mizik on 2012-11-06Sound Academy - Toronto

DJ at the beginning was soso. Playing weak Hip-Hop songs The Weeknd Rocked it! This guy is really talented. His voice was clean! Good stage presence too. The band did their thing. Performed most of his hot songs, although almost all is songs are bangers anyways. I just wished it was a tad longer!

    Great Live

by Nikkicool on 2012-11-06Sound Academy - Toronto

The weeknd is an amazing live singer. A bigger venue would have been better with a few more songs but it was still a good show.

    The Weeknd

by Swaggur on 2012-11-04Sound Academy - Toronto

The Concert was extremely poor, I would never go to another concert of his ever again. If you are one of those people who keep up with music and have been listening to The Weeknd before he was all over the radio, I guarantee you won't like the concert because his fan base is complete mainstream listeners. So the songs his Dj was playing before he went on stage left his fan base stunned and barely paying attention to the new music. All in all, if you love good music and you love the weeknd, save your money and don't go he sounds better through a computer than he does in person.

    Love

by DaniellaC on 2012-11-04Sound Academy - Toronto

The Weeknd was truly great, did not disappoint. Sound academy isn't the greatest venue, really takes away from the intimacy of the performance, but The Weeknd's music and live vocals made up for the lack of view I had of him, I wish i saw more of his stage presence to really feel the music.

    Disappointing concert

by ebdy on 2012-11-04Sound Academy - Toronto

First of all, the concert was indicated to start at 9pm. The Weeknd only came on at 10:45pm. The DJ who was filling in the time before the main act relayed really bad, irrelevant tracks. As for the actual performance, it didn't feel like Abel was a seasoned performer, despite touring for a full year. He didn't engage the audience very much, and the actual sound was nothing special or more worthwhile than simply listening to his recorded songs. Considering the price of the concert and how excited I was to finally witness him live, this was an incredible let-down.

Totally lived up to the hype. Rave-like event at Sound Academy, no seats. Fully recommended!

    Unreal Performer

    by Mitch4390 on 2012-11-02Métropolis - Montreal

Amazing show even though he showed up 20 minutes late, DJ was still entertaining we weren't waiting long enough to become impatient. Everything was perfect other than the fact he didn't play any new material, he definitely should have done that.

I feel bad if you missed The Weeknd

    by LukeXO12 on 2012-10-31Métropolis - Montreal

This guy is only starting his career and he has already released some of the best music I have ever heard. He's definitely going to be one of the biggest stars in the world very soon and his talent is 1 in 7 billion. The show was absolutely incredible, from the lighting to the visuals and sound quality, his singing.. everything was incredible! Xo.

Great but could have been better

by EricaS on 2012-10-31Métropolis - Montreal

After waiting 7 hours to be in front (I did end up being third row), I honestly expected more from The Weeknd. The opening act wasn't so great, but I did appreciate that The Weeknd came on on time. However, he only stayed on for a about an hour and a half, which is minimal considering he has 3 mixtapes out already AND a new album coming out with 3 bonus tracks... none of which he played, by the way. That surprised me. He has newly released material and didn't even play it! I also thought the opening and closing song choices were bizarre... some songs were also cut short for a reason I don't understand. Some of his most popular songs were left out of the set list, like Life Of The Party. Then again, he is a great performer and has a wonderful live voice. He moves around a lot on stage too, and talked to the crowd quite a bit which was enjoyed by all, clearly. His encore was great, considering he played Montreal in Montreal .. although he changed the beat of the song and then finished with Outside? What? He should have just ended it at Montreal. However, he really is a crowd pleaser and all the girls go wild for him; he will not disappoint when it comes to that silky voice of his that everyone loves.

    It's hard to say.

by mehhhh on 2012-10-31Métropolis - Montreal

I mean there's a lot of different factors involved in enjoying a show. I was at the metropolis, if you're really short it's a bad place to be because the only way you will see anything is if you sit on the benches on the balcony. About the artist, he does sing really well he has a good voice, no doubt. I just personally was disappointed, I don't know what I expected but in my mind he just seemed to be a bit too distracted and came off self centered. It doesn't really matter, he sang the right songs. His voice was pretty much showcased. If you like the weeknd, I guess it's worth it but I wouldn't pay again to see him live. I've been to a lot of shows and this just wasn't a memorable one. To be honest, a lot of people walked out after his first few songs. A lot of people seemed bored but maybe everyone was just high on something. What bothered me the most is that his set was to end at 10:45 and when the DJ ended his set, it took 20 minutes to set up the stage and then another 10 minutes for him to make his grand entrance and it seemed a bit selfish to people who paid money and came out in bad weather mind you and you take your sweet ass time to get out... I didn't appreciate that. But he's the artist, maybe he's going through some life crisis, maybe he was sick, maybe his body was weak from touring. I don't know. You might like it, you might not.

    Amazing Atmosphere

by heckster on 2012-10-19Pacific Coliseum - Vancouver

the atmosphere started of dark and scary with low music playing and you could taste the excitement in the air like any concert. His opening act depends what type of music you prefer since the weeknd isn't completely ghetto but the dj was playing good rap hits. The weeknd amazing on stage. He didn't keep talking and just kept a good flow of music. His voice was amazing assuming it was live. Overall it was an amazing concert.
