Theory of a Deadman was Painful
by chaelansmom on 2012-01-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5Let me start by saying I am a HUGE fan of TOAD. I was so excited about going the concert at Edmonton Jubilee Auditorium (its my favorite venue) - which has the most incredible acoustics (it used to be the home of the ESO). So imagine my profound disappointment when TOAD came out and I could barely make out the first 3 song because the volume was so high all i could hear is distortion and the very loud, off-key back up singing of the drummer. My hubby and i were ready to bail after 3 songs, but then they finally switched gear to their "Acoustical" set (funny because they were all plugged in still) and the volume was turned down enough it actually sounded ok. When the first encore started, the volume was cranked right up again and we walked out. Gauging by the number of people already in the parkade, we certainly weren't alone. If i can head bang my way through any metal concert, its not loud music that bothers me. I seriously think TOAD need to invest in a better soundman - because this one was horrible. Did I mention Jube has perfect acoustics? TOAD themselves put on a good show and really got the crowd going. I will see them again - maybe in an outdoor venue. Very disappointing!
