Three Dog Night in Concert

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

Three Dog Night still Rockin on!!!!!!!

    by GTV1 on 2010-07-03Casino Rama - Orillia

This was my umpteenth Three Dog Night concert, and the thrill is still there. The first couple of songs were a little light on the vocals but after a fix to the sound level, everything was smooth sailing from there. The boys seemed a little more talkative with the audience and a little more at ease than usual. Cory's rap version of Mama Told Me was hilarious. Loved it. I went with a few friends, a couple of them had not seen the "Dogs" in concert and they were impressed with their showmanship. They said they would definately go see them again. The new song they played sounded great and adding some older songs like "Leave your hat on" was a pleasant surprise.

    3 Dog Nigh

by Redjay on 2010-07-03Casino Rama - Orillia

Music and thier voices were great. After travelling from Toronto to Orrillia and spendinf $60.00 on gas , plus paying for tickets on the floor , I expected more that an hour show. This blows. It's a rip off. Their new song "Heart of Blues" was almost worth it. Almost Redjay

    Sub-Par

by ATrueDog on 2010-06-07Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

Aside from the fact that not all of the band was there, those who did deign to show up lacked energy and interest. They appeared, at best, to just be going through the motions. Their songs are great, but their performance sorely lacking. Especially compared to other artists who have poured their guts out on the same stage - Chicago, Burton Cummings, Joe Cocker and Grand Funk to name a few. Very disappointing.

Great old familiar songs performed with high level enthusiasm by mostly original members of Three Dog Night, who can still sing and play.

    Three Dog Night was phenomenal!!!

by JCMurray on 2010-06-05Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The boys in the band seemed ageless and their music is timeless. Not that many surprises as we had seen them last time out, but every song was a hit single and as musicians they were flawless. A great show........

    Disappointed

by BubbyH on 2010-06-05Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I was generaous in giving 2 stars. I don't think it is too much to expect to have the balances (sound levels) done before a concert ..and have the amps plugged in and working. It got off to a bad start (guy with a flashlight trying to make everything work ...shouldn't that have been done before the start of the concert?? HORRIBLE sound ..awful. AND ..nice they found "2 guys that could help us out" but ... the concert was 3 Dog Night NOT ... the monitor man filling in (he WAS a very good guitar player .. when he was plugged in ) and Danny's son . Still missing a lead singer. Maybe they should have cancelled after the "emergency" rather than find 2 guys to "help out". Don't even get me going about the (drunk?) yahoos who ran down to the stage. nice for them to buy cheap seats and then run down to th stage. Not so nice for those of us who (stupidly) bought golden circle tickets and thought we would have an unobstructed view. And what was with the bozzo with the lighter. He sure seemed impressed with himself .. me? not so much. . For the price, i expected a professional concert. Not a scramble.

Three Dog Night Should Have Cancelled

by Quickbeam on 2010-06-05Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

As the concert opened last night the band said they were missing one of their key members. They themselves said they weren't sure what to expect. When I pay good money to see a concert I expect to see the very best the band has to offer. If they can't provide that then they have a duty to cancel or postpone the show until they can provide it. Some of the songs were off and there were others that they did not sing. They said themselves they were not going to sing their normal play list because of the missing band member. Some of the songs were pretty good, especially "Joy To The World" (their encore), but I couldn't help but think throughout the evening that this could have been a really fun night had the other band member been there. They should have postponed this concert.

Three Dog Night was AWESOME *

by Tahj on 2009-09-16Black Bear Casino Resort - Carlton

This concert was spectatular...there was always music in our household while the 4 of us kids grew up. My parents were relatively Young parents and enjoyed ALL new music. Three Dog Night would be played over and over again. The best part of my childhood was rock'in to bands like this with my sisters and brother. Actually, we would perform for my parents friends (usually after the bar) while all dressed in the same p.j.'s. You just don't find times like that anymore.

Excellent musicians and singers. Great to hear all the old tunes. They play very well together. I loved the new tune they came up with for some Blues Festival they had to perform at. It was great.
