About

Three Dog Night in Concert

Legendary band, Three Dog Night, now in its fifth decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures -- songs like "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)", "Joy to the World", "Black and White", "Shambala" and "One" serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize Three Dog Night's continuing popularity.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Always working to expand its audience, Three Dog Night has embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New and existing fans buy Three Dog Night's music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, releases from this decade alone have sold well over a million copies.

Three Dog Night also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience its dynamic performances of the hits as well as several new songs. The project, recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and released to coincide with the band's 35th Anniversary, added exciting new orchestral arrangements to Three Dog Night's signature sound.

Three Dog Night maintains an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 70 dates a year. The hit filled concerts are performed for generation-spanning audiences by Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar) with Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums),) David Morgan (vocals) and Howard Lavarea (keyboards). The band's now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a "Three Dog Night".

Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10's, 18 straight Top 20's, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best-selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records Three Dog Night Page 2 continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of Three Dog Night records have been sold through the years.

Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group's eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in Three Dog Night dominating the charts for years.

Now, marking 50 years on the road Three Dog Night continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theaters, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed over 2,500 shows including two Super Bowls.

This is my first event at Casino Rama and I thought it was excellent. My friend and I very much enjoyed it. All band members were great, but Cory Wells was amazing. A 5-star event :-)

    3 Dog Night barked hoarsely

by Papawoody on 2010-07-05Casino Rama - Orillia

Either the lead singers both had a cold or they have lost their voices as a result of being nearly 70 years of age. We saw them about 4 years ago, also at Rama, and they were still hitting all the notes, unlike Saturday's performance. Still, the boys did their best to entertain and it was fairly enjoyable.

    Three Dog Night was fun

by Weasly on 2010-07-05Casino Rama - Orillia

The sound started out poor but was corrected quickly. The band was tight. The vocals were OK for guys who are now in their 60's. It was my first time seeing them and I enjoyed the show. They did some funny stories, plus did some Rap to one of their tunes which was very good and funny. Overall a good show.

    Three Dog Night were outstanding

by willyb on 2010-07-05Casino Rama - Orillia

From the opening to the encore, Three Dog Night performed with great energy. Each song brought back fond memories and it was so much fun to be able to sing along on every song for 90 minutes of poor fun and enjoyment.

    Blast From the Past

by Manac on 2010-07-05Casino Rama - Orillia

Highly anticipated event. These guys made some great music in the early 70's that sparked memories of those times. Their song were classics and easily remembered by all who attended. The sound was still there with some acoustic changes. They played all of the favorites and did a very good job. I was thrilled to see and hear a fond memory of my past and relive those moment again. Thanks Guys!!

Three Dog Night were good but not great. Losing their voices alittle. They did play most of their singles catalogue. I don't know if this venue credited them at all. The DVD they made in 2002 was much better in the audio department. A smaller theatre would be better to see Three Dog Night at. There were people leaving throughout the show which didn't help the atmosphere. My favorite song "Mama Told Me" was done terribly. Not because of the rap version but they could not duplicate that song as it was done in the early years. Cory seemed in control of the show even though his voice was alittle rasp. Danny is losing it.

Playing their hit tunes, excellent! You should see the crowd at the stage! Just like in their teens, just older like me and no body surfing. Worth every penny. Voices struggled a bit at times (high notes) but hey 41 years of playing!! Must see if you can.

    Awesome Show

    by Frank24 on 2010-07-04Casino Rama - Orillia

A thoroughly enjoyable show. The musicianship was top notch, the vocals were excellent. It was amazing to see a band that has been around this long still performing at this level. The dialogue with the audience was wistful, funny and very informative. The band truly seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. The audience left happy and fulfilled.

The guys were on their game to say the least, my girlfriend and I enjoyed every entertaining second, and she wasn't all that familiar with their music, or so she thought. I would love to see them again soon,

This is the third time Ive seen the boys. They still got the notes and the moves, just a little older. Some very good interaction with the audience. They know how to entertain. Corey's pipes r a little sore or tired. Well worth the bucks. Bring 'em back again.

Three Dog Night @ Casino Rama

by Coltrimac on 2010-07-04Casino Rama - Orillia

My wife and I were glad to see these guys still enjoying performing. Excellent talent. The music, the musicianship and performance is still solid. Based on their original recordings we had no idea how good the guitarist really is. We enjoyed the performance from start to finish and it was a ahwww moment when they finished the last song.
