Toronto FC History

Toronto FC played their first season in 2007 and became a perennial MLS Cup playoff contender after adding Italian soccer star Sebastian Giovinco in 2015. In his first year with the team, Giovinco became the first Toronto FC player to win MLS' Golden Boot, MVP and Newcomer of the Year awards, en route to the team's first-ever playoff berth. The team reached further success the following year by reaching the MLS Cup Final, then won the championship in 2017. That victory, coupled with their winning of the Canadian Championship and Supporters' Shield matches earlier in the year, made Toronto FC the first team in Major League Soccer history to complete the rare feat known as the domestic treble.

Toronto FC have been most dominant in the annual Canadian Championship, in which the club has taken home the Voyageurs Cup eight times, including in 2020. Individual player accolades include Rookie of the Year for midfielder Maurice Edu in 2007 and Most Valuable Player for attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo in 2020.

Toronto FC at BMO Field

Toronto FC is the city's first Major League Soccer team and the first Canadian team in the league. When BMO Field, the team's home stadium, opened in 2007, it was already the largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada. The venue has since expanded to accommodate over 30,000 fans. The Eastern Conference team's most vocal and visible supporters club, the Red Patch Boys, started rallying online back in 2006 before the team had even played its first match.

Doesn’t matter if they loose, they make up for it later!

Each time I go see a game, I have those undeniable faith on these guys that they wind up scoring goals at the the end of second half. I see people leaving and am like “well that goes to show how y’all are in relationships, no faith” SMH. Then boom surprise they score and tie or win 👍. Always a pleasure watching TFC!

    Great Accessibility

    by MS on 2023-08-24

I had my first visit to the TFC Stadium and was impressed with the setup. I am disabled and use a wheelchair to get around, though still found it easy to move around and the seating was setup with lots of space. Accessible washroom was in a great location and had ample room for my chair and PSW. Sadly TFC lost, but was still an enjoyable event.

Rubbish Soccer. Terrible ambience. This franchise is in deep trouble and there are no short term solutions.

Just needed a LITTLE more info...

by Cat on 2023-05-10BMO Field - Toronto

The experience, from looking at & selecting seats, was fairly smooth & effortless; i loved the ability to see what view we would have from our seats. The only improvement i would suggest is to denote that the section was bleacher seating. Our view was phenomenal & likely better (i felt) than some of the upper bowl seating, however had we known the seats were bleachers (& cold/un-padded), we could have brought some cushions, blanket, etc. to help us be more comfortable.

    Great Back and Forth game

    by Ludivigu on 2023-04-02

Despite the cold yesterday, against Charlotte FC everything about the game was great. Our seats were somewhat affordable and we’re able to enjoy the game for the whole 90 minutes. 1 request to make stuff a bit more organised and heaters for the stadium, but despite that had a great time
