    Not the acrobatics you expect.

by Mish24 on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Torus had fabulous costumes and scenery but story line was rather weak and didn't have any acrobatics that you expect to see at a Cirque du Soleil show. I will be very careful in the future when deciding whether to book tickets again.

    Beautifully done!

The aesthetics and choreography was very well done. Wonderful use of colours and sets. I wish we had gotten closer seats.

    Wow, that just plain bad.

by RobinToronto on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

So this evening, I ended up seeing Cirque Du Soleil's 'Avatar' Inspired Show called 'Toruk' with about 12 friends. It was honestly so awful in every way. Blue peeps running around aimlessly for 2 hours. No acrobatics, nothing that would resemble a cirque show. It was a boring orgy of cardio-focused smurfs put to really bad music with some effects that became old real quick. I'm trying to think of something positive to end with. I felt refreshed when I woke up from my brief nap during the first act. The end. If you love Cirque Du Soleil - don't go see this.

Best show I have been too!!!

by Ginny32 on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Toruk was absolutely the most vibrant and visually stimulating show I have ever been too and I must say I attend theatre and events regularly. It is unfortunately not around in Canada very long with many dates. So if you can see it I would say it's a must. You will not be disappointed

    Toruk was amazing!

by Maverick2009 on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

To start with our seats were spectacular. Next the special effects were fantastic. The cast members were not quite as active as previous shows but still over-the-top. The narrator made it so much easier to follow the plot. All together I'd go see it again in an instant.

Toruk simply blew with all their special effects and acrobatic acts.

    Toruk: Breathtakingly beautiful

by Redwoodgoddess on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Absolutely incredible creativity! Unbelievable sets...volcano eruptions, rocks, tropical grounds, slopes, trees. The colors! The singing! My favorite scene of flower petals...the grace, the colors brought me to tears. After the show I posted on FB to my American friends that if they can get tickets and get to Toronto, to not miss this show!!!

    Toruk

by Chipsie on 2016-01-10Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I loved it! Someone beside me said there was not enough acrobat acts. Bull! If you look carefully, all the running, the jumping, the climbing, the intricate moves on the part of the performers necessitate an enormous amount of energy and coordination. My hat to the performers and thank you for having a show where I could finally see everything that was going on all over the stage. I left with a feeling of awe and blissful delight.

    Atrocious.

by WentwithJimmy on 2016-01-08Air Canada Center - Toronto

Went to see Toruk on Thursday Jan 7th. Sat in the first few rows of 113 section. By the first intermission (which itself was a surprise as the lights simply turned on during the tail end of a musical number) I was deeply confused about whether there was some sort of prologue or show programme I should have studied beforehand as all I had witnessed for the interminable first half was a gang of underutilized acrobats scampering around in circles around an otherwise very well designed set/lighting package as a narrator with a terribly annoying and contrived accent tried to tell the audience that something dramatic was going on. In the second half the same thing happened again--except this time the terribly under utilized acrobats were put in the humiliating position of having to carry around foam dogs, wear zebra costumes that reminded one of Secretariat the pantomime horse from Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show before playing with paper cranes at the ends of fishing rods. By the end of the disastrous production I ended up thinking that I was just part of some terrible joke with racist undertones that another reviewer appropriately referred to as redface. A horrific waste of two hours that I will never get back.
