Despite starting off with many, many technical problems, the band recovered, and through a mix of personality, great music, and sheer rock, got the show going. The crowd was older, and it took a while to get them up and moving, but move they did by the end of the show. The music was great, and I particularly liked that as an impromptu encore, the band sang We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time) again, having recognized that when they opened the show with the number, technical problems so overshadowed the music that the crowd deserved to hear it again.
I do want to add that the band was very personable and chatty after the show, in the merchandise/autograph table. Unlike many bands who rush the crowd through, and are obviously frustrated with the time fans use to take photos, Trooper was the opposite. In this, I particularly want to mention guitarist Brian Smith, who was exceptionally great in person, not only writing 'for soandso' with his autograph, asking for names to personalize his message, but chatting a lot with each fan. When photographs were asked for, he got up, put his arm around the person, and seemed to truly enjoy the experience of meeting his fans.
