Trooper almost ruined Trooper for me

I don't know, but when he was done his set and Trooper came on, I figured that Trooper would at least meet KM's mark. I'm sorry to say that this didn't happen. And I LOVE Trooper ... or at least I love their music. They, as a live band, however, left much to be desired. Four VERY long solo's a bit strangely orchestrated, higher sung notes not achieved (by quite a margin), and the addition of two lovely Edmontonian girls who have just put out an album (this generosity by Trooper was the best part of their set) who did not seem to have been included in whatever information gets passed around about what the words are or where they are to jump in. All of this contributed to a strange show. The band had us all at the very beginning, standing, shouting, singing ... and lost us completely two songs in. People were sitting by then, pretty quiet, and this lasted until almost the end when Trooper's signature song was played after which about a quarter of the place emptied out quickly before the encore. I was sad to see this, but I applaud the band for still getting up there and belting it out, even if they're maybe a bit past it. I love Canadian rock, always will, but I will stick to listening to Trooper any other way than live. Kim Mitchell, however, whenever he comes to town, I'll be there rawking it out. He played some good Max Webster stuff at this show, and that was nice.
