  • Mixed feelings

by TrooperFan on 2016-12-20River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 3 out of 5

Both Kim Mitchell and Trooper were amazing on stage and did what they do best, entertain us! Meeting the guys after the show was the icing on the cake. Very charismatic with lots of chemistry, the boys put on great entertainment. However, the river cree resort & casino, is not a great venue. The food is horrible, they still allow smoking inside and it has that lovely ashtray smell baked into the walls and carpet! If you don't like cigarette smoke blown in the air you breathe, I'd pass on this venue. If you like good food, I'd also skip this venue. You are strictly not allowed to take pictures, even with your cell phone so if you like pictures to remember your evening, skip this venue. The staff was also very rude and strict so if you are put off by rude people, I'd also skip this venue. I would totally go see Kim Mitchell and Trooper any chance I get; just not at this location.

  • Trooper & Kim Mitchel

    by Timbo5 on 2016-12-20River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5

Kim Mitchel was awesome. Great guitar and vocals still shows he has it, even in his 60's. Well worth it just to see them. Disappointed somewhat with Trooper. Although they played most of their hits, the music was far too loud at too high of pitch that it sounded tinney and actually hurt my ears. My ears were ringing for two days after - not good. Too bad because they do have great voices and many good tunes but it was uncomfortable to listen to almost to the point where I thought about getting up to leave or move to the very back of the auditorium.

What a great show! Lots of energy and covered all the hits! Brings you back to grade 10!!!

  • Trooper & Kim Mitchell

Bottom line.... Kim stole the show. I am a big Trooper fan and have always said that thay are the best party band to see. This time around i was a bit dissappointed in the Trooper show. These guys need to drop all the Solo's. They could have have added minimum 6 more songs instead of every member in the band doing a solo. Lots of people were bored and went for beers while this was happening. Ray needs to finish his lines when singing. He tends to pull away from the mic half way through his lines and not finish singing his parts. they still perform well but could do away with all the soloing. Kim Mitchell rocks as good as ever. He sounds GREAT!!! Love all the Max Webster stuff he did.

Too much feedback. Couldn't understand the lyrics music way too loud. They're done.

  • Kim Mitchell was terrific, Trooper not so much

It's been quite some time since I'd seen either of these acts so I was looking forward to the concert last weekend. As I sat there listening to Kim Mitchell I was struck by how little had changed for him vocally. He and the band put on a great show reminiscent of days gone by. Then along came Trooper. Now I must admit that I was never the biggest fans of this band but they didn't live up to even the low standards that I had set for them. I don't know what happened to the sound system for them but it was drastically worse than for Kim. No doubt that the band is talented however the show was a bit disjointed for me. The highlight was a shout out to lose who we lost in the music scene in 2016 when they played Heroes, a Bowie tune.

  • Bad sound

Husband thought acoustics were really bad. Reminded him of a high school band. It did pick up and we did enjoy a few songs. We liked the light show.

  • Overpriced

Not what I expected. Dinner was all processed food with very little taste. Dessert was inedible. Trooper was Late and didn't seem to care, their music was good though.

  • Trooper with Harlequin

by OldMusicLover on 2015-10-05Club Regent Event Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Trooper was a pretty good show. He still has a great voice. Did not appreciate the drum, bass guitar, and organ solos. Seemed like they were just trying to stretch out the show. Harlequin was surprisingly great. Everyone I talked to, liked their show better. They played all their hits! Downside - the sound men... The sound men had the bass too loud, and it drown out the music for most of the songs...

  • Harlequin was great, Trooper not so much!

by northchapter on 2015-09-29Club Regent Event Centre - WinnipegRating: 2 out of 5

Trooper started off strong, first 3 songs were great and after that a lot of time wasted listening to guitar solo, drum solo, etc. I minute or two would have suffice but these were very lengthy. Trooper then spent most of the remainder of their time on stage playing songs from other bands. Sure was disappointed.

  • Trooper & Harlequin both excellent

Both Harlequin & Trooper put on an energetic and wonderful show. Same as years ago. Sound was great.

  • Trooper rocked the house!!

Attended Harlequin/Trooper On September 25th at Club Regent. Was very fortunate to be on the dance floor in front of the stage and the boys from both bands did not disappoint! Both bands were very interactive with their fans. You closed your eyes and were transported back to the seventies listening to their unique awesome vocals and sound! Two huge thumbs up!!

  • Trooper "What just happened?"

by VikesFan52 on 2015-09-28Club Regent Event Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Wow is all I can say about this concert. Decided to go see Trooper for the first time and was left with an anger that I had could have been seeing this band live for the last 30 years and hadn't. From the opening riff to the last bow it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to and I've been to allot. Saw AC/DC the week before and those boys should be ashamed that they are still charging $150 a seat for the show they put on when Trooper has been around just as long and is stepping up to the plate like this. It's called energy and it went on every second for almost 2 hours. I will never miss another Trooper show as long as they are touring. Good job boys!!

  • Great Classics

This is the first time I had seen Trooper or Harlequin. I have wanted to see them for 30 years & somehow it never worked out. Finally saw them. They were great. Both bands sounded great. George Belanger didn't quite have the range he used to, but still sounded great. Ra McGuire sounded fantastic. He has a crisp voice with a lot of range. For a bunch of older gents, these guys had an amazing amount of energy. Harlequin was on for an hour & Trooper just over 2 hours. Definitely got our money's worth! At then end both bands got together for Raise a Little Hell & We're Here for a Good Time. It was fantastic. Those guys were having the time of their lives. I loved watching them have such a good time together. My only complaint was Trooper's music was so loud that sometimes it was hard to hear the vocals. Unfortunately it drowned Ra McGuire's voice out quite a few times.

  • Trooper what a blast!

Great time, they entertained the entire crowd. The songs chosen were great. It was a good place to spend New Years Eve. The band was fun and the atmosphere from them was amazing.

  • Trooper was awesome! Did not disappoint....

Thoroughly enjoyed this show! The energy that the band projected to the audience was fantastic! The music was second to none! I loved how they engaged the audience and drew everyone in - not one single boring moment! ...they even took the time after the show to sign autographs! It was a wonderful way to spend New Year's Eve! It was a great night and I look forward to seeing them again! Keep up the great work Trooper! Definitely a hit!

Great concert, great band. Music was too loud for the room. Chairs were jammed together. Would have been better to have stand up tables around perimeter and allowed options to sit, stand or dance.

  • Trooper - excellent

Group of people went, enjoyed and had great fun. Trooper didn't disapoint and would definitely see them again!

  • So disappointed

by Juliane on 2013-05-13Grant Fuhr Arena - Spruce GroveRating: 2 out of 5

I love the band but who ever they hired to do the mixing should be fired . They blasted out all the band couldn't hear the wonderful singers . This was not a young people's concert and many people were very disappointed they had there ears ringing like mine. It just sounded like noise why would they want to drown out the singers. This was a wonderful band and we were so excited to hear them. My husband and I left when the piano player was playing it just sounded like noise gave us a headache. The band who played to start with was horrible we couldn't enjoy them either why was the mixer trying to blast them out. We were so happy that Spruce Grove is bringing in this caliber of singers but doubt we will ever go again to bad so sad we will stick to the jubilee or even Horizon stage

  • Trooper at it's best!

by Terrorron on 2013-05-13Grant Fuhr Arena - Spruce GroveRating: 5 out of 5

That was the most incredible bass solo we have ever heard!!! Can you imagine how hard it must be to make a bass sound good on it's own?? What talent!!!! Hubby was born with a guitar in his hand...and he was in awe!! All in all, it was a great show. The guys were bang on! The energy was fantastic. Just trying to figure out why there was so much security...most of us were 40+...like us " old folk" are going to get into trouble? Perhaps they were there to pick up our false teeth, as they fell on the floor when our mouths dropped open in awe...or as we tried to sing along. lol Guess it's because most of the people there grew up in the 70's...?? Hardcore all the way! lol
