About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

  • Wicked was WICKED!

This show was amazing. I have seen Wicked 4 times total now, and each time new memorable parts are made. The cast, as always, astounding, the music is unreal. It's a phenomenal telling of the Prelude to The Wizard Of Oz!

This show was great fun. The cast talent was amazing. Even the theatre was gorgeous. I loved the book. I loved the musical and I'm only mildly addicted to the soundtrack that I find myself humming everywhere.

  • Wicked is a 10+ must see

I can't say enough about the quality of this production. The vocals were strong across the board, as was the choreography. The dialogue was delivered passionately and was interspersed with some memorable comedic moments. The story is well told through both the dialogue and the music. Excellent performances all around. The orchestra was crystal clear, and the instrumentals were in perfect balance with the vocals. Kudos to the tech crew for a phenomenal job on the audio mixing. I was equally impressed with the costuming, but what stood out the most for me was the complexity of the sets. I wasn't expecting anything this elaborate from a touring show. The design was ambitious to say the least, and the numerous set changes throughout the show were seamless. The lighting was dramatic and the special effects were an added plus. All the efforts behind the scenes certainly served to enhance the total experience. This is as good a production as I have seen anywhere. We caught this in Rochester and can't wait til it comes to Toronto later in the tour. Curtain to curtain, pure enjoyment!

I've been waiting to see Wicked for a very long time, and usually when you build something up for so long it's doomed to be disappointing. This was not the case with Wicked. I was mesmerized within the first few seconds of the show and stayed that way until the end. Seeing the show has made me want to see it again even more than I wanted to see it originally. This is definately a show I would recommend someone see, I loved it!!

Attending in a beautiful theater, set the stage for this amazing production. Set design was fabulous and the actors brought forth a wonderful performance that was well worth the time taken to attend. I recommend this musical to everyone!

We lucked out and saw Wicked! at the beautiful Orpheum Theater in San Francisco in January this year. It has something for everyone, great music, singing, dance, comedy, tradgedy and a very interesting twist on a classic story. If there were ten stars available, we would give it TEN!

  • Wicked - fantabulous!

The basics of Gregory Maguire's novel were covered in this spectacular spectacle. The clever ties to "The Wizard of Oz" were well done, if slightly deviated from the book. The performers were talented, the costumes amazing...particularly the citizens of the Emerald City. I took my sister to the show. She had not read the novel and enjoyed it thoroughly as well. I don't know what else to say, but "We loved it!"

  • Show was great, seats were horrible!

I am giving the show 5 stars because it was truly amazing. However our seats, 3rd row in the 2nd balcony, were horrible. My wife had to stand over to the side for the whole show as we could see nothing from our seats. If you ever go to this theatre, do NOT get balcony seats unless you are in the 1st or 2nd row as the seats were on wheels and these 4 ppl were able to pull their seats up to the balcony railing while my wife and I were left with no view but the ceiling.

musicals do not get any better! this is my fourth time seeing it and it is still fabulous. Funny, emotional, smart, fun and some of the best songs in musical history. Amazing for a traveling cast (and this is in comparison to having seen Idina and Kristen in Toronto for the opening!). Elphaba was stellar! Glinda was funny! absolutely amazing...I recommend it to everyone!

The show was fantastic! Every performer was at their best, and as a member of the audience, I could tell that each of them were just giving. And giving their all, too. It was funny, touching, and entertaining. The transition from the light tone at the beginning to the somewhat dark theme near the end makes it unique compared to other shows. Having read the book, I was curious to see how they would accomplish the transition but they did it brilliantly. It was entertaining and I found myself smiling throughout the whole thing, even at times feeling nostalgic. I'd recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I found this play to be the highlight of our week in San Francisco--neither of us are huge musical theatre fans but Wicked was absolutly fabulous.

  • great musical

by danielC on 2009-10-26Orpheum Theatre - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

I had seen this musical in New York as well. By comparison, this performance was just as good. The only diisappointment was the male lead which I flelt had not quite as good a voice projection . Overall an excellent musical.

  • Fabulously Wicked!

    by TT25 on 2009-10-15Orpheum Theatre - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Sadly we were late arriving and had to stand in the lobby for the first 30 mins of the show but when we were finally seated... What a show! There were several understudies performing and I was thoroughly impressed with every one!. The performers voices were strong and beautiful and you couldn't help but fall in love with Galinda/Glinda and Ephie. I laughed out loud repeatedly and other times I felt so sad for Ephie I wanted to strike out at all the people who treated her poorly. I have already recommended this play to many people and we can't wait til it comes near our city so we can see it again! ( from the beginning this time)

  • Wicked was incredible!

I would highly recommend this musical! The singing was amazing - there was never a dull moment. Thoroughly entertaining. Well worth the drive from Vancouver to Seattle. Would see it again if Wicked came to Vancouver!
