About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

Amazing musical! A wonderful story about Elfaba (the wicked witch of the west) who was really the victim of bullying and discrimination, (because she was green), and how she rose above them all with the help of Glinda! I hadn't known the story before I saw the show, but was caught up in the story of how misunderstood she was because of how she looked., and what a good person she really was. The music is fantastic and the leads were amazing. Wish I could see it again, would be great if it came to Vancouver

BEST thing I've seen on a live stage! From set to costume to performances to the theatre itself! Wonderful!

The entire performance was amazing! We loved it! I went with my husband and 3 kids (5, 9, 11) and they were mesmerized the whole time. The only thing was the Paramount theatre - it was beautiful but, freezing!

We had heard a great deal about this musical from friends and family who had seen it in New York. We were blown away by the cast, the stage and the theatre. It was one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco.

Wicked was everything we expected and more. The woman who played Elfaba was exceptional. All characters had strong voices, it was an easy to follow story and the staging and visuals were exceptional. A real winner!! Well done!

OMG, I've been a huge fan of musicals since I was four and really didn't think anything could surpass Rent (my favorite since its début), that is until I saw Wicked Wednesday night in Seattle. It was wickedly entertaining. I brought my boyfriend who, had never been to the theatre let alone a musical and even he was trying to sing along to the (over-priced) cd in the car ride home! If your unsure about seeing this gem of a show don't be because I can promise it delivers in all the right ways. P.S. I totally wore my ruby slippers ;p

Really enjoyed the performance. Great harmonies. Great story. Great archetypes. Great chemistry between lead performers. Many moments of visual brilliance. Music not as predictable as other musicals.

Well done! Saw it for the first time last year in NY, and this one (Seattle 09/26/09) was almost (but just not quite) as good. All in all, very impressive for a travelling production - I would see it a few more times if I were a Seattle-ite. DEFYnitely worth seeing!

Wicked was the best Musical I have been to. Meeting and exceeding my expectations. I have not read to the book and had no trouble following the story line. It had great singing, dancing and even some comedy. I would recommend it to everyone, and can't wait to see it again!

  • Wonderful

The performance, staging, costuming and theater (the Orpheum in San Fran) combined for a memorable event. The actors had great range in their voices and the dialogue was clever. The enthusiasm of the actors was noticable and this energised the audience. Overall, a great way to spend an evening.

  • Good but not great

by WickedinSFO on 2009-09-27Orpheum Theatre - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

Wicked was certainly entertaining and there were a lot of wow factors. The costumes and the spectacles were certainly worth the front row tickets. The cast in San Francisco was a great cast. However, the music was not the best. I am biased in some way as I always compare the shows that I watched with each other. I would rate Priscilla, Mama Mia, and Phantom of Opera as 5 stars. Wicked, Spamalot, Hairspray, Boy from OZ, and Miss Saigon as four stars. Chicago, The Producers, and Annie as three stars.

  • Long wait for Wicked worth it

by Greenfan on 2009-09-26Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I have been listening to the soundtrack of Wicked for a few years now and I was dying to see it. Now that I have? Well now I'm just dying to see it again! I loved the show from start to finish with the definite highlight being Defying Gravity. The only thing that wasn't absolutely amazing about the show was that the sound quality went down a bit when all the students or Ozians were dancing around on stage, stamping out some of the sound...Really though I was too wrapped up in the story and the characters to think much about that. Amazing show, would see it again anytime...and again and again.
