About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

  • Wicked

by SkahaSharon on 2009-09-24Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoyed the play for the most part, but would rank it only as average. It wouldn't make my top 10 favourite musicals. I had a good seat except the person in front of me was the tallest, large person I've every seen and I could only see 1/2 the stage at one time even if I leaned way over to one side. Mostly I could only see the right or left quarter of the stage and alsmost nothing happens there. I wasn't impressed with the music. No songs were catchy and memorable which I found disappointing

  • Wicked was the best!!!

by Mone on 2009-09-24Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I am a huge musical theater fan and this was by far the best show I have ever seen. Each performer was powerful and moving. I have a recording of the original cast from New York and I thought this performance was at least as good if not better then the original. Parts of this show moved me to tears I was so excited to finally get to see this. Please bring it back again. Also this was my first time in your theater and both my husband and I thought it was gorgeous. We live in Canada and will definitely be back to see more. Thanks for making it possible

  • Entertaining, creative, surprisingly comedic.

    by 3musketeers on 2009-09-23Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Fabulous singing, choreography, sets and costumes. Creative prequel to The Wizard of Oz - could have been shortened as some parts in the 1st act seemed to drag. However overall very entertaining, clever (didn't expect the humour elements) and we would recommend.

  • Wicked was Magical!

by Hiyacher on 2009-09-23Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

There are few words that can capture the pure magic that happened on Seattle's Paramount stage on Sept 22nd. One comes to expect a good show when a professional touring company comes to town with one of the A-list musicals, and this company did not let anyone down. From the moment the curtain (map) went up, one got totally immersed in the story, the music, and the magic. So much has been said about Wicked, from how spectacular it is to how it doesn't follow the book. But it all really boils down to, it is one heck of a fantastic show that is pure entertainment from start to finish. Everyone should see Wicked a least once in their lifetime.

  • Wicked-an Unbelievable & Unforgettable Experience!

by reelfeismom on 2009-09-23Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment my 2 daughters & I sat in our seats, the magic began. From the elaborate set that captured the essence of the play to all the characters that appeared on stage, we were in awe. Both Guh-Linda & Alphaba were outstanding in their performances. At the end of the first act, I was truly speechless with Alphaba's defying gravity. The 2nd half was definately darker than the first but no less powerful. We truly were spellbound from start to finish. After the play was over, my 1 daughter burst into tears as she enjoyed it so immensely & Theatre touches her in a most profound way. We went to the stage door on the street & the actors that came out were gracious took time to talk to us. We did so appreciate it. We have come up from Vancouver, Canada to see a few events at the Paramount (Spring Awakening & Riverdance) & although the drive is a long one, seeing Wicked was most definately worth it! We look forward to visiting again.

  • Wicked National Tour - Seattle

by Robfan on 2009-09-22Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Went to the National Tour of Wicked playing @ the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on the 19th of September. So good that we also saw it on the 20th as well! This was after we saw the Broadway cast perform in NYC in July 2009. Although the stage is coniderable smaller, the Tour does a very admirable job in replicating the stage show. The actress who is currently cast as Galinda/Glinda, Chandra Lee Schwartz, was fantastic!!! In my opinion, superior to her NYC counterpart. If travelling to NYC is not possible, do yourself a favor and the women in your life, catch the Tour. IMO age appropriate for 6+ (some potentially scary moments for younger kids).

  • Wicked was excellent !!!!

by SFalcon on 2009-09-22Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I would definitely go see it again. The actors were great and really had the audience captivated. One of the best plays I've seen.

  • Wicked was beyond the OZ!

by Weekenders on 2009-09-22Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I laughed, I cried - what an amazing play. The story line, the acting and the stage set tied everything together for a wonderful night out at the theatre. We all left in awe in how the story tied into the original movie. Full of surprises!

  • What an amazingly Wicked performance!

by JPowell on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Having been to quite a few "road" performances I was leary at seeing the touring Wicked performance - but all my worries were forgotten after the first number! Top rate! It would be hard to top the broadway performances, but this was definitely the next best thing. I was extrememly impressed with this performance and that was after listening to the original broadway recording numerous times just before the performance - the cast was excellent. I enjoyed every moment and wish I could see it again. The only donwfall was that it wasn't closer to home so I could see it more than once. Well done! It would be nice if Broadway Across Canada could show these performances!

  • Donna Vivino was incredible!!!

by Kugz on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The musical was fantastic, and Elphaba (played by Donna Vivino) was amazing! She was definitely one of the highlights of the show, and her voice and acting skills were phenomenal. The woman who played Glinda was also perfect for the role, and she really took the stage when she performed "Popular." The stage set up was just beautiful, and really there wasn't anything about the musical I did not like. Amazing performance!

Always wanted to know about the wicked witch of the west and the true story behind the red shoes of her sister. Singing was amazing, costumes amazing

  • Wicked was wicked!

Great show, you need to see it! This was the second time going and it was even better.

  • Absolutely Amazing even from the nose bleeds

by PaulT on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

This is one of the most unforgettable shows ever. We saw the Sunday Matinee performance and even the understudies were amazing. A must see for anyone who has ever seen The Wizard of Oz. (And let's face it, who hasN'T!?)

  • Wicked was, well, 'wicked'!

by Kymmy on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the show, though it was slightly less impressive than the first time I saw it, a few years ago, also at the Paramount in Seattle. I thought the leads were good, but some of the supporting players weren't as strong as the last time. In addition, there was a slight malfunction in the first half (a dangling corkscrew of paper, centre stage, reaching almost down the the heads of the cast) that was distracting (though it was remedied during intermission, to the cheers of the audience!), and I also noticed some distortion/loud humming/vibrating over the sound system that was distracting as well (fans/air conditioning, perhaps?). Also noticed some inconsistent mic'ing during the ensemble numbers (some voices at much louder levels at certain points). Overall, though, loved it again, and was (almost) completely satisfied.

  • Wickedly Entertaining

by DeeG on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I Highly reccomend this play. The performance was incredible as was the singing by all castmembers. In particular the two leads were fantastic! There were a number of entertaining references to the Wizard of Oz which had the entire audience howling and while the play makes use of its source material it is very much its own story. The staging and costuming is also wonderful, and it makes the production in many ways! The entire experience was beyond all my expectations and I would absolutely go again given the opportunity!!!

  • Wicked was wickedly amazing!

    by wicked4ever on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked at The Paramount in Seattle was amazing! I saw a Sunday matinee with Elphaba's standby and she was fantastic. The acting and singing was spot-on and story-wise it is filled with twists, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness.

  • Wicked

by mkatz on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

As the title says, this was wickedly funny and entertaining, You will never look at Oz the same. Songs, costumes and performers were all truly wonderful and the twist ending makes your heart sing.

  • worthwhile to watch

by hellosanfran on 2009-09-21Orpheum Theatre - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

We saw Wicked in San Francisco and thoroughly enjoyed it. The actress who played Glinda was fantastic and had the perfect comedic touch. The extensive set decorations were appreciated although my husband said, "sometimes less is more". I didn't rate it 5 stars because I thought Act 2 was not as strong and entertaining as the first act.

  • Amazing to the point of life-changing!

    by JenyD21 on 2009-09-21Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked was everything I expected it to be... and then some. My mouth was unhinged during the entire show and in some places I actually did have to remind myself to breathe. An unforgettable musical experience!
