About

WICKED, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle.  Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another girl, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” WICKED has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of WICKED, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, WICKED—the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story. It will send your spirits soaring to heights you’ll never forget.

  • Wicked was .. well .. WICKED!!!

This is the second time that I have seen this show. The first was in London, England. It was just as amazing the second time. There was only one disappointment ... the actress who played Glinda was not nearly as impressive and she should have been. Her voice was lost often and at one point she forgot some pretty key lines in a song. However, the actress playing Elphiba was beyond amazing and more than made up for it. Fantastic show!

  • Wicked was simply Fantastic!

Without an ounce of exaggeration, this was far more entertaining than a movie. The quality of the acting, music, and story was truly fantastic. The scale of the production is almost overwhelming to the senses. Given the amount of action on stage during some of the sets, we feel as if we couldn't take it all in. We're seriously considering going to see this a second time just to pick up on things we must have missed. Worth every penny. Recommend you sit in and around the halfway row of the orchestra pit such as to be as close as possible while still seeing the entire stage and taking in the entire experience. Highest recommendations.

  • "Wicked" is Wonderful"

by Witchiepoo on 2009-09-09Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked takes you on an incredible journey with two of the most memorable childhood literary characters ever written, from the book The Wizard of Oz. We watch in delight as we see how Elphaba (eventually labeled the Wicked Witch of the West) and Galinda (later to be known as Glinda the Good) not only become best friends but also change each other's lives forever, and for good. The story is ultimately about the great strength and complications of women's friendships, while it also examines social stigmas, prejudices and politics. The musical score is uplifting and is guaranteed to give you shivers, and although the underlying tone is fairly dark, the show is packed with humor and breathtaking stage sets. Don't miss this "Wickedly Wonderful" production!

A fabulous production as expected. This was my 2nd time to see the play, the first time being in Ottawa. The Paramount theatre was the perfect venue. Costumes, colours, sets, singing and acting all exceptional. A must see.

Wicked was the best musical theatre performance that I have EVER seen (and I have seen a bunch; even on Broadway in New York). It is definitely worth seeing; I am coming back to see it again. Such powerful musical performances bring the clever story to life and draw the viewer into the story. Don't miss it!

  • Wicked was beyond "wicked"!

by VeeVee on 2009-09-07Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

We went for the Sunday matinée. I believe that the actress playing Elphaba was the understudy - either way you could not tell, she was REMARKABLE as was the rest of the show. Well worth the trip from Vancouver, BC and definitely worth the money. I even splurged and bought a shirt! The set, effect, music, acting.. everything was phenomenal.. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes theater and musicals!

  • Wicked continues to be the best!

My sixth time seeing the show and oh my goodness, it just continues to delight the audience. Even with the understudies playing Elphaba and Glinda. The chorus was outstanding. Vocals and choreography were extremely strong.

  • "Wicked" was wicked!

by lhaight on 2009-09-07Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The performance of the touring company for "Wicked" was spectacular yesterday afternoon in Seattle. We saw a matinee with three alternates taking lead roles. I have nothing except the original Broadway cast soundtrack plus some video to compare their performance with, but in my opinion they equalled the performance level wonderfully. Fantastic sets, incredible lighting effects and, oh, the costumes, added to the great performances. Loved it!

  • Absolutely amazing!

It was truly a magical show where the characters, the story line, and the vocals just capture your attention and takes your breath away. Having read the book and knowing the basis, you still can't help but marvel at the show and the talent that abounds from it. It's a definite must-see!

  • One Short Review for the Emerald City

    by WickedLover1228 on 2009-09-07Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The first time I heard the music for Wicked, I was hooked. For the past two years I have been waiting for the chance to see Wicked live on Broadway and this September I finally got my wish. I was not disappointed, it was FABULOUS! Instantly I was drawn into the world of friendship, love, deception, and the true meaning of being wicked. Overall, I was quite impressed by the way that the book had been modified to a shorter and more comical story. All the little details throughout the songs and scenes contributed to a brilliant ending that I was not expecting but was delighted to see. And of course, the music blew me away and will continue to be a soundtrack that I listen to over and over again. If you love musicals, the "Wizard of Oz", terrific music and a thoughtful storyline, then I encourage you to see Wicked!

I highly recommend this as a family event....really fun for everyone. The story was easy for everyone to follow along. The music was great....a little girl in the row behind us sang along to every song!

  • Wicked was equal to Les Mis or phantom

by songdanceman on 2009-09-06Paramount Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked was equal to some of the bigger, successful plays on Broadway. Simple set design let you use your imagination and focus on the characters. I would go again.

  • Wicked was truly wicked...

by GLEK on 2009-09-06Orpheum Theatre - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Haven't seen a muscial in a long time that had such outstanding music, sets, costumes and a rich story line. I really liked how the story was written to link to "The Wizard of OZ" story. The emotions were manipulated so well as to give sympathy to the "bad" characters. Many clever effects, witty lyrics, puns, costume and set uses. The reference to "Evita" by Glinda as well as an obvious parallel with NYC were most enjoyable. Great strength in singing and acting were required to pull off the leading roles of Glinda and Elphaba. The two actresses we saw at our performance were excellent. My one complaint was that the seats were very narrow and not elevated enough as to allow to a clear view at all times. This is a drawback of the older theatres. Fiyero was probably the only weak link. Some of his notes weren't bang on and his mic gave him problems twice during our show. The scene that Glinda watches as Elphaba fights Dorothy's group was done behind a white screne. While I can't think of another way they could do that, it seemed too simple compared to the rest of the story. I would like to have seen more development of Nessarose's character as there was really only one line reference to her becoming the Wicked Witch of the East. She was killed off relatively soon afterwards. This musical would be enjoyed by all...young and old, male and female. The characters brought the whole audience with them and we were routing for both the bad and good guys.

A memorable 16th birthday and highlight of trip to Seattle. Stunning costumes, fabulous stage props with talented dancers, singers and actors! Funny, entertaining with good representation of the book - well done.
