TREY ANASTASIO IN CONCERT:

Trey Anastasio's music transcends the walls of traditional rock -- whether he's leading the band Phish with his unique vocals or composing original licks on his Martin guitar, Anastasio proves his virtuosity as an extremely well-rounded musician. Although he's played alongside a diverse group of acts ranging from Dave Matthews to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Anastasio always returns to his roots as a guitarist and composer, captivating audiences with his grand use of arpeggios and improvisation at his live shows. Hitting the road with a number of different bands, Anastasio will treat fans to hit-filled sets on his highly anticipated summer tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Texas, Trey Anastasio got his start in college as the frontman of legendary jam band Phish, performing at local house parties for fellow classmates. The band rose to fame in the late '80s with their cult debut Phish (The White Tape), and eleven more albums followed over the course of their three-decade career. During the band's run, Anastasio released ten solo records, including an orchestral album and a collaboration between Primus' Les Claypool (bass) and Police's Stewart Copeland (drums) called Oysterhead. Not only has he had an expansive collection of hits, but he's also dabbled in chamber music and scoring for theater, composing a number of orchestral pieces and penning music for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. Anastasio has a packed summer tour ahead, and he's sure to delight fans as he performs with the Trey Anastasio Band, Phish, and the LA Philharmonic.

    original TAB kills again

by tpace on 2024-05-22MTELUS - Montreal

Montreal's stop was at the MTELLUS. It's a terrific place to see a show. I have seen more than a dozen bands there, some more than once also when it was under a different name. The sound is pristine, the security don't even make themselves known unless you need guidance or you are acting like a dumbass and or smoking. Also, the climate control is nice, especially when dancing away, you stay cool. The show? Very good. I enjoy the different variations of TAB including the horns and extra musicians and ladies but this basic 4 piece is damn strong. Trey knows how to pick 'em. I won't comment song to song and such but seeing them in Toronto the night before, I noticed Trey was on another level as a pure guitarist in Montreal. He was playing pristinely. Very intricate solos without rush and sounding like he invented the instrument. His solos and strumming were mostly very long and on another level this night. A+ I would give the total quality of the show a solid B.

    Way too Hot

    by Okay123 on 2024-05-22MTELUS - Montreal

Venue was way too hot. Sweating before the show even started, drank two bottles of water before it started. Left halfway through because I couldn’t stand the heat. Was sad.

    Great Show Rude Crowd

by Delilah on 2024-05-21History - Toronto

Trey was great, he brought the energy I wanted and the lights were fun and the bands energy was great. However. We left early because the crowd was AWFUL. We tried to dance and just kept getting dirty looks, we were pushed away and people kept walking right in front of us even though the path was clearly behind us. Felt like we wernt meant to be there. Just a bunch of posers, which is expected at a Phish show.

    These guys never disappoint

by Avalon58 on 2017-06-02The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

It is still refreshing to catch a Trey concert, even after seeing Phish and derivatives thereof on many previous occasions. There is so much natural talent on stage, that I doubt there ever was or will be a weak show. The upcoming 13 shows at MSG is a testament to Trey and all his bandmates, as well as to all those Phishheads out there. Dance like no one is watching.
