    bobOdyssey

by Aly on 2019-11-12E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

My 4th Dylan show in 6 days. He’s Bob Dylan. He’s comedic, he’s a writer, he has always surrounded himself with the best musicians for whatever his immediate musical trajectory has been.

Bob and his band were brilliant.

by Tom on 2019-10-27Mankato Civic Center - Mankato

What a show! Dylan has never been better and his band was fantastic. We were really pleased with the songs performed. Dylan put a different spin on things and they got it right in Mankato. A great mix of old and new. The Mankato Civic Centre is a great venue. And, the people in the audience were a lot of fun.

    Bob Dylan concert

by Sherry12345 on 2018-10-16Smart Financial Center - Sugarland, TX

Bob Dylan has been one of my favorite artists through the years. We even named our middle child Dylan! But this particular concert was AWFUL! It was monotone and we could barely discern which song he was singing. He seemed to be weaving onstage and didn't say hello, good-bye, thank you, and anything in between! People were leaving in droves throughout the concert. On the way home, we put one of his CD's on so that we could hear the Bob Dylan we fell in love with.

Thank You Bob Dylan for bringing Mavis Staples!

by Anonymous on 2017-11-04Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Mavis Staples was amazing. She saved the night. Would go back to see her anytime. My suggestion would be, go to the Dylan concert, see Mavis Staples and then leave before Dylan comes on stage. Dylan was the most painful, boring, and thoughtless show I have ever been to. Watching paint dry would be more exciting. Three days after the show and I can still not figure out what the heck he was trying to prove. When the crowd gave applause, it sounded like a courtesy clap. Even those around us were dismayed at what they were watching. You pay for a ticket and try to make the best of it. Dylan should take a few lessons from Ms. Staples! Dear Mr. Dylan. People pay to see your show. Please acknowledge that fact. When you are done, thank the fans. Don't just walk away. YOU ARE NOT THAT COOL! Lose the ego! I was very excited to see this show. What a let down. I enjoy a lot of Dylan's work. I wish he had of played some of it. My first and last time for his gig.

    No screens !

by Luz01 on 2017-10-28Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

I think this has been the only concert that I've been where the artist didn't have any screens to see the performance. On top of that, Dylan didn't acknowledge his public; no hello, goodbye or anything.

    Bob Dylan

by Snakeboy on 2017-08-01Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It was a good show but he never played enough of his classics!! He sounded good and so did his band, I wish he talked to the crowd, didn't acknowledge what city he was in. The crowd seemed dead not just because of their age, but he seemed to lull you asleep. Wish he picked up a guitar and harmonica!!!!

    Music was amazing however

by Sassyl on 2017-08-01Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Dylan was amazing. Really enjoyed his new music. Had a blues feel to it. However there were no overhead monitors and would have been nice to actually see him

    Bob Dylan was a bust!

by Kraff on 2017-07-31Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I bought tickets for my family and I to attend the Bob Dylan concert. We were excited to hear him play only to attend and not really be able to hear him at all. He wasn't articulating his words when singing; although to be honest it sounded more like talking than singing. He mainly played his new songs, which wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't decided to sing some of his old songs using the new jazz/blues/country twang beats. And of course, it would have helped to hear what he was saying instead of mumbling. To top it off, he set the stage for a more intimate setting in a large stadium. No large screens were used at all. I was in section 109 and couldn't see much. Looked like ants on a stage. To boot, I wasn't allowed to use my cell phone to even try to zoom in to see what was happening on stage. Anyone who even pulled out their phone was taken out of the stadium. While I understand this in some ways, i.e. not being able to take pictures of video, it would have been nice to know in advance that I needed to bring binoculars as well. Overall this was a rather dissapointing event.

SO SAD - BAD VOCAL SOUND for Dylan

    by JP52 on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The troubadour lyrics were mostly impossible to hear as the sound system for his voice was horrible. I am a big Dylan fan ( from now on record only) and I know there are musical adjustment he likes to make when he plays live. I was prepared for that and looking forward to the new renditions. But I could barely make out any of the words from the Nobel Peace Prize Winner for Literature. The band was tight; no problem there. I wasn't happy with the drummer's arrangements - seemed a lot of constant banging. I know, weird to say but that style did not enhance the show, for me. Perhaps Bob wanted that constant, demanding beat. After an hour and only being able to recognize Maggie's' Farm (?) and Highway 61 I'd had enough and we left. I've seen other bands at Rogers and the sound and vocals all worked well, e.g.; Fleetwood Mac, Bette Midler etc. The Rolling Stones had GREAT sound, including vocals when they played at BC Place. In my opinion Bob needs a better sound manager or appropriate equipment for the venue. I want to commend the staff everywhere in the arena. They were all great hosts; very accommodating and helpful in directing us for any of our needs.

    Autumn Leaves

    by Dylan63 on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

We thought that this was the best Dylan concert in years. His voice was both clearer and stronger than it has been for a while, The arrangements were outstanding, the musicianship extraordinary, the choices great and meaningful. And then there was Bob. This was my 21st time starting with a small coffee house, the Finjan, located above a bakery in Montreal in 1961. This concert, we thought, was somewhat autobiographical and perhaps a little sad. His interpretations of Sinatra songs made it sound as though each number was his own. The opening song, Things Have Changed, to The Love that Faded to I Paid in Blood to the new poetry of Tangled Up in Blue and Autumn Leaves we got a picture of a poet who has always been "far beyond his rightful time". It was a story of reflection, the tale told by the master wordsmith. The concert seemed a lifetime too short.

    A legend but completely impersonal...

by Peaceloverocknroll on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The show was amazing, music was great, the band was phenomenal!! But Dylan literally said nothing... didn't say hello, thank you, good night... walked on stage played, set over, lights out, walk off, lights on, encore, lights out, walk off... nothing!!! Fans pay a ton of money to see you and you don't have the decency to even acknowledge us? I was rather disappointed with that lack of common curtesy... yes the show was great but man his people skills could use work..

    Bob Dylan disappointment

by Adeline on 2017-07-29Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

while the music was very good to listen to; it is with disappointment that I can't say the concert was incredible. We paid top price for 3 front row seats (the VIP pkg). Unfortunately, Mr. Dylan was set so far back on the stage that we couldn't see him and he sat at his piano during the concert. One of the main reasons for obtaining front row seats is to get a good view of the performer, but the price we paid was far beyond what it was worth in my opinion. However, definitely would go see him again if a good view of him performing can be obtained.

    Dylan is Dylan

by SingingPat on 2017-07-29Prince George CN Centre - Prince George

We went into the concert knowing that Dylan doesn't talk about the songs or anything else, so it wasn't surprising that the concert was one song after another. Very little nostalgia; most songs were more recent composition. My husband who a big Dylan fan said he understood only about 10% of the words, also not a surprise. There weren't screens so the concert mostly was listening with no visual. Most songs were done at the piano and he was hidden behind the piano or the sound system. We have a good sound system at home so except for feeling to be part of a concert, we wouldn't go again. Been there, done it.

    Forgetable

by DeadPoetSociety on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Bob's still got it but he plays for himself and the audience is only there to fill seats. No hits from the past other than an old Peter Paul and Mary favourite. Would like to have heard a few words from the man but it was not to be. Not so much as an utterance or recognition that we were there. Coupled with Bob's words to melody being lost in the muffled acoustics of Rogers Arena it became a pointless evening. Better to download a sound bite.

    Dylan was ... Dylan

by Katbat on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Dylan did not seem like he cared about what city he was in and was not engaged with the audience, he didn't play anything recognizable and it would have been nice for him to play something that the fans that paid to see him Wanted to hear.

    Could have been better

by MicCheck on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The sound started off pretty horrible. They got the instrumentals figured out and they sounded fantastic but the vocals were really bad. Not from Bob Dylan but from the sound settings, were unable to understand anything that was being said. Ended up leaving early.

    Disappointing

    by Luv2travel1209 on 2017-07-29Rogers Arena - Vancouver

It's Bob Dylan, I'll admit the stage was intimate but really wanted to hear some of his best--it could be the last time he performs
