About

"Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album."

    Awesome performance!

by Laura O on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Bonnie had the place rocking from the time she appeared on the stage. I don't remember ever seeing so many heads and shoulders bopping to the beat of her music. I loved thee selection of tunes she performed. A nice mix of new and old. Both she and her band members are great musicians and she gave them plenty of space to show what they could do. Loved her personality and her connection to the audience. I would go see her again in a heartbeat. Lastly it was nice to see her perform in the Jubilee...so much nicer and more personal than a large arena venue.

    Bonnie, Soul Sister!

by HeatherJ on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

My husband and I absolutely loved this concert! The sound is always great at the Jubilee but Bonnie and her band were amazing! And so was the opening act, Royal Wood. We had never heard them before but we are fans now. We enjoyed every minute of our evening. Only thing that could have made it better was meeting and chatting with Bonnie.

    Bonnie was the best!

by Caroline D on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

What a joy to see Bonnie Raitt live! Venue was perfect and intimate (Jubilee in Edmonton, ~2500 seats). Performance was terrific - Bonnie’s voice was so clear and controlled. Tight band. She performed the perfect mix of new album, old songs, true blues and a surprising rocking version of INXS and Talking Heads songs. Incredible. Her stage presence was fantastic and she acknowledged a number of important Canadian issues, including Truth and Reconciliation and support of Ukraine (flag displayed - homage to Ukrainian population of Edmonton). Her rapport with the audience was so warm, genuine and funny. I’ve seen 40+ live concerts and this was in my top 5 lifetime. Her show was perfection.

by CMac on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Raitt still has the chops of someone 30 years younger! It’s a pleasure to keep listening to her, which I’ve been doing for most of my life. Royal Wood and his band was also a great opening act!

    Did not sparkle

by Bill Bones on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Bonnie Raitt's voice and her slide guitar playing are as good as ever and she can really handle the vocals from soulful ballads to rocking hit music. However when you have been touring the same show for months it may be hard to have every performance hit a home run. In the case where even the between song quips are rehearsed things can lack spontaneity. The last number of the set showed the energy I had been expecting and got the crowd bopping in their seats. A bit more of that throughout the show would have been welcome.

    Bonnie Never Disappoints

by Lori N on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was my third Bonnie Raitt concert and as before, Bonnie served up a full evening of incredible music, which seems to just ooze out of every pore. Who else can treat you to such a wide range of songs, times, genres and feelings. Given how long she's been singing, her vocals were spot on and often tore at your heart, with her music telling authentic, relatable stories to move us. It's such a joy to share an evening of music with such a gifted artist who lives, breathes and loves what she does, and the fans who all feel the same way. Bonnie and her music are a gift.

    An Honor

by LP on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I felt like I was in the presence of a legend. Bonnie Raitt is music to her very bones. This was a simple show- Bonnie, her band and some changing colors in the background. No flash but lots and lots of soul. Though I don’t know her, I’d guess this is a perfect reflection of who she is. Bonnie’s voice was just as strong and pure as it was when she was at the top of the charts. Amazing. I was blown away watching her work those guitar strings. I had no idea she could play like that. Can’t figure that out listing to Spotify. Another good reason to see her live. Bonnie played songs I knew, though sometimes the versions were not the ones I sing to on my car stereo. Her near solo pieces were most satisfying to me, as I felt the base and drums were often in competition with her. She can really belt out the tunes, and so could they. Needless to say her band were also seasoned musicians and it was great to see them syncing on the stage- old hands all of them. She talked a bit about John Prime, the grief of loss from Covid, And all through the show a Ukrainian flag placed wrote in front of the drummer caught the stage lights. I’m really really glad I got to see Bonnie Raitt live. It was an honor.

Best concert I've experienced in awhile.

by Bonnie fan on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Bonnie Raitt was giving it all. The audience was great and expressed their enjoyment so I think that was fuel for her wonderful performance. She has such a great repertoire so it's great to hear whatever she and her most excellent musician friends decided to play for us. I appreciated that she carries the flag for the Ukraine onto her set and she referred to truth and reconciliation week. She is present and shares herself with the audience. She's like good wine -- gets better and better with age. Royal Wood was fun and gave a great opening performance.

    Humbling … just like that

by Ashman on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I’m so pleased to have been present to see and hear Bonnie Raitt AND her tight tight band colleges. I believe her when she said she loves to be back preforming…she is such a pro ….50 years of continuous preforming is an incredible feat! We are lucky to have Bonnie Raitt, her voice is angelic and thank god that she was jealous of her mothers piano skills and decided to switch to guitar …. Killer playing !!

Bonnie is a Pro, a Great Performance

by RP58 on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This is our 3rd time seeing Bonnie Raitt, 2017 at the Jubilee, 2021 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, and this latest performance at the Jube. She is one of the best, when you see the best the music just seems to flow from them and she makes it seem easy. At 73 her voice is incredible and she still hits all the notes. We are big fans of her blues, country folk style and sound, her unique voice complements the music style and makes for just a wonderful performance. She is personable with her audience and a real professional. We were not sure about going to the Jube to see her Sept 24th as we had just seen her perform last fall, but we decided to go because her performance is soo good, just a pleasure to be in the audience.

    Awesome

by LindaLou on 2023-09-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Bonnie Raitt puts on one of the best musical shows, and chooses a smaller venue, like the Jubilee Auditorium, where everyone can enjoy the amazing sounds coming from Bonnie and her band. Glad she decided to tour again - 50 years of touring, just like Jagger! Her voice is still the star of the show - and she has amazing band members! - and no auto tune! A great show. People (especially me) couldn’t help but move in their seats. Thank you Bonnie Raitt!♥️
