About

Sting is a 17-time Grammy-winning artist and a founding member of the pioneering new wave band The Police. Born in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, became one of the best-selling artists of all-time as the bassist and frontman of The Police. The band released five studio albums and six Top 10 singles, including the Sting-penned No. 1 hit “Every Breath You Take,” before disbanding in 1986. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and their 2008 reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of the ’00s. Since releasing his 1985 solo debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Sting has been recognized with a British CBE and an Emmy, featured at the Kennedy Center Honors and inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has also received four Oscar nominations, and his 2014 Broadway musical The Last Ship, which was inspired by his childhood and featured music and lyrics by Sting, was nominated for two Tony Awards. A constant experimenter of genres including jazz, pop, classical and world music, Sting won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2019 with Shaggy for their 2018 collaborative album 44/876.

    Happily Stung by Sting

by MGC on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

It was a marvelous concert and I have been a Sting fan for many many years. Well, I may have lost count, nevertheless, this was my 11th Sting concert I have attended. I attended his My Songs 1st Canadian Concert when he played Ottawa last spring 2022 with my nephew. It was my nephew's 1st Sting concert but not his last. Therefore, it was a must for me to be present at his September 5th, 2023 Toronto concert. Both My Song concerts were amazing and were classic Sting with his band. However, the Toronto Budweiser one unique, was marvelous, energetic, electric and pure magic for me. I believe the outdoor stage atmosphere enhanced Sting's presence, music, his brilliant band's accompaniment and his legacy of songs. As a massive fan, it was my first time purchasing VIP tickets. My sister and I had a wonderful evening. Sting was in top form with his rich voice and his banter favoring his past Toronto gigs. Dominic Miller and the 'band', were outstanding and it was obvious they enjoyed their musical collaboration with Sting. This concert did not disappoint. The best part, was when he sang 'Fragile' as his traditional ending and calming song, telling his Canadian fans, he will 'see us again'. Given that, I will definitely be part of other Toronto and/or Canadian Sting concerts in the future. Congratulations to my 'music' man ~ I will see you soon!

    Stung by Sting

by Susan on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Great show, all the hits, showing his age gracefully. Yet a band and not a one man show.

Amazing, always was, always will be!

by Michelle on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting is just amazing, I enjoyed every second of listening to him and his songs he sings with all he has to give. I saw him decades ago and the venue was packed with huge fans. Keep it up Sting, you look great, sound great and your son is a chip off the ol block Would go again to see and hear him again, and again

    Great event!

by LC on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting is a great performer, had terrific great stamina on stage and it was refreshing to see that he also gave tribute to his band members and their specialties (back up singers, harmonica player and even bringing on Joe Sumner from the opening act back to perform a song with Sting. The venue provides a very relaxing atmosphere, where most seats provide a good view and setting. Perfect for this particular style of concert where the performance is all about the songs themselves, and lyrics as opposed to a concert that would have a large stage production better fit for an indoor venue. Lots of food and beverage options, although it was unclear that there were a lot more options beyond the gate.

    Sting awesome- sound not

by Mb on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting was wonderful. Creative, excellent musicians, a great artist. Sound at Budweiser underwhelming. That needs to change. Also security needs to be better about people disturbing the show.

    Sting is the consummate professional

by Ninjas Warrior on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting looks great and can still hit all the notes. Enjoyed the venue. Disappointed with the sound quality. Getting out from the parking lot is a nightmare.

Joe Sumner (opening act) was fantastic

by Andrea D on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting's son Joe did a fabulous opening show. Vocal range singing "King of pain"was impressive.

    No usher

by Kevy on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Sting was great, but there's was no usher ot security in the 401 A section, and people were standing in the ailes . People who were in their seats cannot see. That's why I given three stars if they have have more ushers and security I will give it 5 stars.

Great concert, but a little short!!!

by Eled on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I was a bit surprised concert was short. He didn’t even sang for 2 hours! Although, I can listen to him forever, not even 2 hours of concert seems a little too little!

We had the BEST night watching Sting!! He was AMAZING!!! We sat on the lawn and still had a great view. The sound was better than other venues I’ve been to in the past! If you haven’t seen a Concert at the Budweiser Stage you definitely should!! We danced and sang the night away!!

Sting was great, our fans were very inconsiderate

by James Arion on 2023-09-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

The event security should have people sitting down (Even if everyone stands up to give an ovation, which is understandable). Standing fans who continue to stand and block the view of others over 3 songs, or the entire concert is very inconsiderate and disrespectful. There are many people who paid to get seats that couldn’t see the concert (except from a glimpse of the big screen). Concert goers to a concert like sting are often older, some are disabled (like I am). It’s nice to purchase tickets to a concert and SEE the concert. Which purchase tickets for seats, which are meant to be sat on. The concert was great. Budweiser Stage totally mismanaged the crowd. If you were selling tickets to a stand up concert, fine. Your staff should have better managed the concert goers so that the experience was pleasant and successful. Out of 1-10 with 10 being excellent, I would give this concert a 3. Sting was great, it was hot (no one’s fault), but crowd management and venue management gets a “0”.
