    2 of a Perfect Trio

    by dozys62 on 2011-10-07Tralf - Buffalo

Excellent concert. Great venue, ideal size. Brilliant seeing Adrian and Tony Levin after being a fan of theirs (and King Crimson) for years. All accomplished musicians, well worth going to see.

    Belew Blew Me Away

by Avalon58 on 2011-10-06Mod Club Theatre - Toronto

Wasn't sure what to expect. Not really a Crimson fan I was hoping not hear some avent garde, experimental, left field "noise", but went into the show fully expecting to be bored for at least some of it. WRONG! Each and every song just blew me away. Belew had with him some extremely talented musicians. Tony Levin and the female bass player were over the top, and the 2 drummers were so tight, so in sync, it was jaw dropping to watch. And we are not talking 4 minute pop songs here. This was prog rock at it's finest. To me this was the surprise concert of this century. So far......

Belew & Levin bring the Crim..

by inthefleshdude on 2011-10-06Mod Club Theatre - Toronto

these guys are unreal.. when they should be playing to 1000's , they opt to play small clubs for a few hundred instead. the ModClub had a full house, in the area of 300.. and overall the night was great. but the PA system in the ModClub wasnt doing them any favours that night, as the speakers are "tired' and 'worn' from far too many rave nights of 130 decibles... the low end wasnt defined, and the overall sound wasnt as crisp as it should have been. Levin and the Stickmen opened the show, then belew and his trio went thru thier set, and at the end, it was all members, for an all Crimson set.. mind blowing, but a little long in the drum solo department. Belew was in great voice, and Tony proved why he's one of the best bassists/ sickmen in the world.

    Brilliant Belew

by zepfan on 2009-10-14Venue - Vancouver

It's been a long time since Adrian played Vancouver and even longer without King Crimson. The last Bears show must have been 20 years ago. But Adrian in a Power Trio with twenty somethings, this was not to be missed. From the first note on a lenghty improvisation his playing was superb and the kids kept up. Lots of exquisite instrumentals and some vocal pieces, Three of a Perfect Pair most recognizable. We go to see musicians like Adrian play because we may not remember the song titles but simply revel in a brilliant guitarist perform live. The small crowd enjoyed it and Afrian and band mates did as well. So come back soon, I'll be there for sure.

    Awesome

    by Dav69 on 2009-10-14Venue - Vancouver

Small venue, sophisticated listeners, outstanding trio. I thought this concert was amazing, I'm a big King Crimson fan and Adrian Belew is such a unique artist. They opened up with their first 2 tracks from the new album "e" which was really cool to hear some of Adrian's new stuff. the young Julie and Eric slick who complete the trio were just so solid. Both of them are so powerful in their own way. Adrian acts as if he's the same age as them on stage. The sound was really good, I was standing inbetween the Guitar and Drums and it was balanced quite well. The lighting was well done, simple but easily changing the mood. Some person fainted in the front row during one of the songs, probably too much awesome for them. All and all though this is one of my top concerts seen. Probably because of the small venue and the awesomeness that is the Adrian Belew Power Trio

Like a virtuoso legend performing in my livingroom

by bluzfish on 2009-10-11The Starlite Room - Edmonton

Adrian Belew has aged like a fine wine, gaining body and flavour over the years. In the eighties and nineties, particularly with King Crimson and The Bears, he redefined the possibilities of what the electric guitar is capable of and how it is applied to musical arrangement. At Friday's performance, he demonstated to the rest of us that there are no genres or containers for musical expression. Rather, he took us on a short journey into the universe as Adrian experiences it - and it is truely an unbelievably large and endless place that he takes us to. To hear a legend like Adrian play in such a wonderfully small and casual venue as The Starlite Room with two other excellent young musicians (Julie and Eric Slick) was an experience of a lifetime. I wish that everyone who missed it could have been there, but then it would have been an arena show which would have been nothing like the warm, intimate experience that those who did attend had. Thanks, Adrian for such a great night.

Adrian Belew and the Flick kids are great fun

by Geraldo on 2009-10-10The Starlite Room - Edmonton

It was entertaining to see intricate cutting-edge prog-rock played on a graphite Parker Fly , with two precocious siblings Jody and Eric Flick on bass and drums respectively---and Momma Flick selling CDs in the lobby! While not absolutely my favourite type of music--this was more musicians' music than audience's music, at least most of the time--it was fun to see them having fun playing it, especialy in the intimate confines of the Starlite Club in Edmonton. I think rather than come early to get a table at 8 p.m., next time I'll just come by @ 9:30 and stand in front of the stage and enjoy the musicianship.

    Belew blows away crowd

by mikedw on 2009-10-07West End Cultural Centre - Winnipeg

absolutely outstanding. The supporting brother/sister rhythem section was very good. a full house of 90% male, 80% guitar players/teachers most with their jaws on the floor. I predict Belew will be like Les Paul and play into his 90's still drawing fans
