  • A Lovely Evening Out

by Bailey on 2024-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

This was a lovely event and an enjoyable one. I am glad that the time was changed to 6pm to accommodate families with children because this really is a story geared toward children. And it was so nice to see people dressing up for a special event. Our experience was a positive one. It was well organized and easy to navigate to our seats. The actual ballet was enjoyable however I did feel that a couple of the male soloists were a little off the night we attended, that is, losing their balance and being off kilter somewhat. My only question mark is the audience reaction. That is to say that I have never attended a ballet in my life where the audience hooted and hollered at the dancers. Yes, it was in appreciation but we were at a ballet, not a country rodeo or rock concert. For myself, that detracted my experience and I would have preferred to hear the audience call out "Bravo". And yes, before anyone rebuts this comment, I am old school and I do like some tradition sometimes. BTW, we have tickets to attend Pink Floyd at the Winspear in January (can't wait) and I do expect lots of "hootin' and hollerin"there!

by Michaella on 2024-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I bought matinee tickets by error, and I really appreciated the ability to change them for the evening show. Picking them up at the Will call was fast and easy.

  • Guess at seating placement

by Toddler at ballet on 2024-12-10Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I didn't like that there wasn't an option to select an aside seat

  • Phenomenon

by Mark on 2024-12-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

This was the most phenomenal live show I have ever witnessed. The orchestra was absolutely amazing. The ballerinas were exceptional. Beautiful flow to the entire performance. I can only go up to 5/5 on the rating, but would have honestly rated it 10/5. Absolutely amazing, stunning, and phenomenal show.

  • Fantastic

by Tarlos on 2024-12-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

We booked this the moment tickets were available. We really wanted floor seats and the experience was magical. The next time we will book a day when we are not working so late. By the time we arrived there was 10 minutes to show time, so we were not able to take in the pre-show activities.

  • Love the Nutcracker

by DeanoBambino on 2024-12-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

As an average guy, watching ballet ranks waaaaaaay below an Oilers game lol. But wow, these aren't just 'dancers', they are artists and athletes. The balance they have is incredible. How don't they tip over when they are perched on a tiptoe or bent at crazy angles? And the height some of these guys get when they leap into the air. It's as if they are hovering and take forever to come back down to the floor. INCREDIBLE. The price makes it a little challenging for some people I'm sure, it's not cheap. But if you watch for the early sales, AMA rates etc it definitely helps. And do you get your money's worth? YES. Nobody would walk out yawning and say "meh...it was okay."It really is spectacular. Well done, from the Company cast to the children's cast, what an amazing team they are, all working together. See you next year!

  • Magical. Such agility & strength!

by Benny on 2024-12-08Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

A few mis steps but imperfect perfection. Performance well done. Loved the facial expressions of the cast. No doubt so, so many hours of practise. There has to be an incredible passion for the art of ballet. Loved the cherished story that is told through this art of acting.

  • A magical ballet

by Clary on 2024-12-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

This ballet is a timeless classic and winter tradition. The ballet was perfection. The seating and children kicking the back were distracting though, we had to move to a different spot. For people who are 6"5, these seats are not acceptable, there is no leg room.

  • Fantastic!

It was a fantastic experience, a great way to place childhood stories in a different context. Well done, thank you everyone!

  • Creative, intelligent ballet

by Corporea on 2024-10-30Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed this ballet. So very happy with our new artistic director ( and team) as he is wonderfully creative and intelligent in choices. I found the ballet to have many creative levels: from obvious storyline to more nuanced lighting, timing, unexpected turns of events! Standing ovation from me!

  • Terrible music, beautiful dancing

by Jc on 2024-10-28Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 2 out of 5

The dancing was completely ruined by the horrible music, if you can even even call it music. It was basically clanging sounds and other grating noises. Impossible to listen to. So disappointing when the dancers clearly worked so hard.

  • Alberta ballet Grimm

I highly recommend this ballet. From the very beginning it captures your attention with the awesome music and the very talented dancers. The dancers keep your attention all the way through the performance.
