Alberta Ballet thrills and inspires audiences with unparalleled productions. As a resident company of the Jubilee Auditorium, it reaches over 60,000 Albertans each year with performances in Calgary and Edmonton.
Alberta Ballet's standing company of artists are classically trained and renowned for wide-ranging versatility. These dancers come from across Canada and around the world. Many company dancers are alumni of Alberta Ballet School, Alberta Ballet's training division.

Each Alberta Ballet's seasons are a line-up of fresh narratives and creative beginnings. It was really wonderful. The CPO are incredible and the dancing was jaw-dropping - the little ones were so sweet and the adults were flawless. Such an amazing performance!
It was my first time going to any sort of ballet show and I had an amazing time. Everything was very professional and the Nutcracker was done exactly how I’d have imagined it be done.
I took my granddaughter and we had an amazing time. She participated in the dance class that was put on before the ballet and she loved it and made the Nutcracker more relatable. This is our 3rd year attending and was the best yet. Can’t wait till next year!!!

Enjoyed the presentation, and full of admiration for the efforts and artistry of the dancers. The Symphony Orchestra also showed their great talents. I just had a feeling the production played things somewhat safely. No surprises in this production. Thanks for all your efforts. Lots of reasons to say "aaww,"but not to say "wow."
All the costumes, especially the female ones are bad. They didn’t look like they fit well, they all looked alike, and were very unimpressive. Otherwise, the show was great.
Act 2 was disappointingly bland. Instead of the familiar colour and celebration of different cultures and dance forms, it was just a series of classical dancers in pale costumes. I expected better from the Alberta Ballet.
The way the talent on stage and in the pit comes together is truly magical. Would definitely recommend for everybody!
I have been going to the Nutcracker for decades, and now I e started taking my granddaughter. It never disappoints. The music is lovely, and the Calgary Philharmonic is a treat! The costumes and settings are beautiful. The ballet is just the right length. Not too long and not too short.
Alberta ballet are outstanding, their Nutcracker made me so proud to be an Albertan.
This was my first time to the Alberta Ballet performance of the Nutcracker, it was amazing, the costumes, the music, the sets and of course all the beautiful dancers. Well done to the Director and all the behind the scenes crew, beautiful work. I plan on coming again next year with my granddaughters.
We went to the afternoon performance of the Nutcracker on Dec.16th. It was a huge disappointment. It was boring and dull. I have been to the ballet many times and was really looking forward to this performance. The dancers were certainly not at their best.
My grandchildren, 6 and 4 joined me attending the Nutcracker ballet this year. They were both totally entertained by the performance, including the orchestra (informing me of what instruments they heard). My older granddaughter loves the set changes. It was a memorable evening.
I thought the ballet was well done. Love seeing the kids in it. Lots of talent out there. Liked 2nd part better. Lots more dance numbers!! It's a wonderful way to start the Christmas season.
The ballet performance was beautiful and the sets were truly wonderful. My only negative thought was that the intermission needed to be a little longer, there wasn’t adequate time for everyone to use the bathroom or get a beverage. The lineups for the ladies bathrooms were very long (roughly 100 people long) and there wasn’t adequate staff at the concessions. When server per booth simply is not enough for that short period of time.
First experience at a ballet. The Nutcracker was wonderful. So many cast members who performed flawlessly. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra were just as wonderful. Kudos to each and every member on stage and behind the scenes whose tireless dedication to make this event come off seamlessly succeeded in doing just that.
Seen alberta ballet do this special 4xs now. See you again next year! The stage sets,costumes and ballet in general was wonderful. How you took us under the Christmas tree was new exciting. Loved how it made you feel the scale of the toys. Always fun for us....ages 10 to 75 in our group. It was too hot when we first sat down in the balcony. And stayed warm. Merry Christmas to all in involved making this so special.
First time we have been to the Jubilee Auditorium The signage and directions could be better for parking. We enjoyed the venue . The facility was clean and their is lots of washrooms, the production was fabulous and my 2 granddaughters could not take their eyes off the stage their ages 6 and 9 years. There is lots to see and purchase before the show. We all enjoyed the play and look forward to doing more. I appreciated the up dates I received on my phone after I purchased my tickets.
I last saw this production by the Alberta Ballet 40 years ago. I was mesmerized at 13 and I was just as mesmerized at 52. The costumes were gorgeous, the dancing fantastic and the music enchanting. Well worth the money to experience the magic of The Nutcracker with my daughter.
That was a real classic performance, my family had a wonderful time and will be happy to visit balet more often
