About

Five years after their original frontman, Layne Staley, died of a drug overdose, Alice in Chains made an unlikely return in 2007. Surviving band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney recruited frontman William DuVall to join the group, first for some well-received concerts, then to go on tour. Next came a new album, 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue," which got glowing reviews, entered The Billboard 200 at No. 5, and led to more shows with fast-moving tickets. In 2013,  the band released their second post-Staley album, this time reaching No. 2 on The Billboard 200. The only AIC album to chart higher was 1995's self-titled set -- the band's last with Staley -- which reached No. 1.

Alice in Chains' dark take on rock emerged from the same late '80s Seattle scene that also spawned fellow grunge acts Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, among others. With Staley at the helm, the band recorded rock radio staples like "Rooster," "Heaven Beside You," "Got Me Wrong," and "Would?"  The band has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards -- including two with DuVall on the mic -- but so far haven't won an award.

    Alice In Chains

by MrPenguin on 2010-03-18Sound Academy - Toronto

If you miss the early 90s grunge sound its still alive I thought i was still listen to Lane Staley with new lead William DuVall Great Show, they played old classics like man in the box, down in a hole, along with 4 or 5 from there new CD and closed with Roster, but why did they miss "I stay away" just should have been at a bigger venue , wow was it cramped and hot in there Keep rocking ALC just so i don't have to listen to bands like Nickleback and the other 1000 bands with that same sound

    Pretty Damn good

by OldAdster on 2010-03-18Sound Academy - Toronto

Parking on the way in was good and easy. Doors said open at 7:00pm Opening act came on at 8:00pm AIC came on at 9:00pm Bar service sucked big time Water was $5.00 Men's bathroom had about 3 inches of water, at least I hope it was, on the ground Women's bathroom was very unclean and unsanitary Leaving the parking lot was rediculous. A lot of dumb and ignorant drivers out there!

It was amazing to see these guys, and they sounded awesome! At many points it sounded just like you were listening to the album...DuVall sounded great and was quite Layne-like at times. They had to slow a couple of the tunes down, but that's if you want to nit-pick...sweet show.

by Nugefan on 2010-03-18Sound Academy - Toronto

Show was good , sound quality was good Drummer has an attitude problem! one person throws a glow stick and he goes off on the crowd, ruined the mood for a lot , crowd was different after that.

    Amazing AIC!!!

by Mushaboom on 2010-02-11Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

AIC was amazing, third time seeing them. But worse seats yet, the orpheum is a bad place for concerts, especially bands you actually want to see! Couldn't see Jerry or any of them the whole time. Good sound though and probably the BEST song list I've ever seen them play!!! Still wondering who the opener was though.... :|

Alice in Chains was awesome :-)

by Rena on 2010-02-04Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I'll admit, my husband is a bigger fan of them than I am, but I thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The new singer is awesome and even sounds a little like the old. Great acoustics in that place - I love the Orpheum! I'm so glad they played a lot of the older tunes - new album is good too, but I prefer the previous albums.

    speak up!

by EastVanRay on 2010-02-04Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Epic show. They sounded as tight as they did when I saw them 15 years ago. My ears rang for a day (and that takes some effort these days). If you like AIC you will be blown away!

Alice in Chains Rocked the Orpheum!!

by Kamichick on 2010-02-04Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

This is definitely one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Alice in Chains totally rocked the Orpheum in Vancouver on Feb. 2nd. They gave it their all and the fans responded wildly. The crowd was amazing...pretty much everyone was standing and fist-pumping and the band totally appreciated it. I hope they come back to Vancouver on this tour; I will definitely go see them again.

by osman on 2010-02-04Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

i have been to a ton of concerts, and this one was in the top 5 for sure. yes alice doesnt have layne in it anymore, but the band still plays way beyond what i expected. they also had a great mix of old tunes and the new ones that rocked the house. everyone around me stood and sang along the whole time, not to mention the great choice of venue as well. excellent show, i wish i could see them in theyre home town of seattle, but i for sure recommend this concert to anyone who even half way likes the band.

    AiC Vancouver 02/02/2010

by AiCVanFan on 2010-02-03Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Absolutely amazing. I wasn't thinking anyone could rival Layne's vocals, but DuVall blew us all away. Great mix of the hits we all know and love with the new Black Gives Way to Blue album. They maintained great energy and kept the crowd on it's feet. Thanks for a great night boys

Just unbelievable to have had the chance to be there!! The Orpheum is a great venue, and the audience tried so hard to out-sing them - they were musiccing back at them! Wish the average person could have got closer though - I completed my ticket transaction online 4 minutes after the site opened, and still was up in the the balcony...
