  • Expiration Date MAY 2015

by Rosieo on 2015-05-10Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 1 out of 5

We had been looking forward to this event for many weeks and unfortunately April Wine was not the group that I remember or listened to. Endless instrumentals and fillers with the main members going off stage way too many times. Great drummer but he and the bassist were the only ones with energy. For a band that had many, many great hits for them to play cover songs by the Beatles and the Stones is beyond me. Perhaps they forgot the lyrics to their own! I did not feel this concert was worth my time or the dollars. Long loud and muffled set by Sons of York. Time to get out your rockers and lawn chairs.

  • April Wine Disappointing

by Ballywing on 2015-05-10Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 2 out of 5

Was all set for a night of non-stop hits - they have so many - they tour so seldom - really looked forward to this concert. What a letdown. They played some hits of course - but then subjected us to 30 minutes of solos/instrumentals , followed by a 'Stones/Beatles' cover ..??? - Have they still got it? - Yes - the talent & voices are still there for sure - but we wanted to DANCE in the AISLES to the April Wine CLASSIC hits! !!! - Nope.... they really missed a chance to deluge the audience with what they came for. Seemed like they didn't really care anyway, just going through the motions. . The venue was probably too small for the show , as the sound was awful. ..... And then - just ONE song for the encore - I for one left this show quite grumpy. :( Not a great way to have your fans remember you April Wine!

  • April Wine concert

by Anonymous on 2015-05-10Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Overall this was a good concert. Lots of Canadian classic rock and roll. The drum amplification was set too loud and drowned out the other players most of the time however.

  • April Wine was Awesome!

    by Ace2666 on 2015-05-10Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I grew up listening to April Wine in the 80's and this was the first time seeing them. What a great set. Myles and his voice didn't disappoint.

  • APRIL WINE 2015

by Madrush on 2015-03-01APRIL WINE - Santa Fe New MexicoRating: 1 out of 5

April Wine Concert was a bust her in Santa Fe New Mexico - With BOC. The Band Claims they were stuck in Dallas due to weather ? Blue Oyster Cult Played line 5 or 6 songs ? The Venue was to last from 7 to 10 yet it ended at 8:30.... Boy I feel ripped off. This was a sold out concert at Buffalo Thunder Casino - I travel for a living for 26 yrs. and have never been stuck anywhere for long. The Band could have driven from Dallas. The Band could have maybe came a day early - Just seems they didn't care enough about there fans. Which by the way am now going to throw away any April Wine music I own. This was a big deal for me. I don't get to go to many concerts and I'm 51 now and would have liked to see them, I wasn't interested in BOC and yet I only got 5 or 6 songs from them for my 40 bucks a ticket and 50 bucks of gas and dinner at a crappy buffet. All in All April Wine really dropped the ball. Again I travel for a living and always plan far enough ahead so that things like weather or unforeseen circumstances don't affect my job performance. Now lets discuss concert promoters - They take your money, Hold it collecting interest of course then they don't deliver what was promised and not a substitute or some sort venue change. I thought Blue Oyster Cult would play just twice as long. BTW they were missing a band member as well. I just feel cheated weather or not ???

  • Always Great but too loud for venue

by busterboy on 2014-11-08Century casino - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

All the hits were played and Roy on drums was amazing ! Great voice Roy ....should be allowed to sing more. Took my 18 year old daughter to 1st bar concert which she enjoyed. A little too loud it seemed for the venue which distorted the sound a bit. Overall a very nice show and great memories to share with my daughter. Only real downer........Myles was very irate over some fans taking pictures. Not once but several times during the show. Despite that outburst....I still recommend April Wine for the great music.

  • April Wine- I will not see again in concert

    by JD2014 on 2014-10-21Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

Last time I saw April Wine I was a teen. I was disappointed and turned off by Myles Goodwyn's apparent bad mood. He rushed through the first several songs, stopped playing to chew out a fan who might of been recording him. ( Put signs up that cameras/recordings are prohibited). Although talented and his band good, his stage presence and arrogance was a turn off. People work hard to buy concert tickets, and support seeing favorite artists/bands. Myles would do with a healthy dose of integrity.

  • Too loud and noisy

by tntdynamite on 2014-10-21Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

We went with anticipation of hearing a lot of April Wine hits and music. The very minute they stepped on stage they cranked the sound so loud that people all around us were uncomfortable as it hurt our ears and vibrated through or body, we were in the 6th row centre. No need to be so loud.. They did not seem to be enjoying what they were doing, no smiles, a few minutes into the performance the lead swore at a person in the crowd and set the stage for negative. They did play some songs that were good but all too loud. The chairs should be staggered no right behind each other as a tall person in front of you gives you no way to see around them. So many instruments that all sounded the same screaming guitars.

  • Class Act

by Joecalgary on 2014-10-21Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Where were the classics? I love April Wine & they were the first band I saw in person back in 1976 in Saskatchewan. I have to admit not keeping up with their current material & would have enjoyed the concert even more if I knew those 3 other tunes. Still a class act well worth seeing!!!

  • April Wine - Getting Miserable in their Old Age

    by bruno111 on 2014-10-21Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

Myles Goodwyn lost my respect after he stopped the band in the middle of "I Like To Rock" to tell a fan to "F Off" because he was recording the song on his I-phone. Get into the 21st century sir! The fan is not going to make any money off it and likely would have posted it on Facebook saying how much he liked the concert. That translates into more ticket sales which in turn translates into more bread in your pocket! I have never seen anything like it and I go to a lot of concerts. Most rockers understand that their fans just want a memory and don't care anymore. That event, plus the long and boring solos by every band member (except Myles, who appeared bored with the whole affair) tempered the otherwise great sound and good tunes. We pay to hear the songs we loved and grew up on, not to be sworn at and bored with long, drawn out solos. This band should have more than enough material to fill 1 1/2 hours without having to resort to that.

  • Average at best

    by 1962rock on 2014-10-20Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

7th time seeing the band and second at Deerfoot. Wasn't impressed with the setlist and always an issue getting wristbands at Deerfoot Casino. Note to the casino: just assign seats No playing of Could Have Been a Lady or I'm on Fire For You Baby plus many more classics that we want to hear. Myles was in a pissy mood with one person recording Say Hello....if you don't want recording of your songs then post it on the ticket. One encore song is pathetic.

  • Wonderland was lame

by MusicDiva on 2014-09-05Credit Union Eventplex - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 3 out of 5

Third degree burn had the audience rocking! They were great. Then Wonderland came on and everyone went and sat down...minus the really drunk 20+ year olds. April Wine came on too late. They were great but most of their fans probably would have like them to come on earlier and played longer. Drum solo was amazing. Note to Evraz...it almost looked like you had more security then paying customers there. Too bad they didn't stop people from smoking on the dance floor.

  • April Wine should retire

by skmommaof2 on 2014-09-04Credit Union Eventplex - Evraz Place - ReginaRating: 2 out of 5

So happy we went at the beginning of the night and got to enjoy the first 2 bands which were much more of a party atmosphere kind of time. Once April Wine took the stage the good time went down hill fast. They sounded awful and treated it like a concert w/ guitar and drum solos when all the crowd wanted to do was dance. very disappointing! Third Degree Burnz and Wonderland were awesome though! I would recommend the Riderville cabaret but NOT April Wine

Was not a good show this coming from a AW fan...............AW has so many good tunes but they ruined them by adding in long solos................... total mood wrecker this was a caberet which for the rest of Canada means party so play party tunes ..............Wonderland was far better siuted to the event than april wine

  • by Anonymous on 2014-01-14Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

We really enjoyed the show. I had never seen them although I am 47. My husband's seen them 3 times, and said the first show was the best. But he did enjoy this show a lot. I wondered what happened to the original people. But, they were solid, and their singing voices quite good actually; Myles has a great voice, and is quite entertaining. I think they should not have included the beatles and stones tunes...it just kind of weakened the show, in my opinion. It was a lot of fun!!

  • April Wine still a Fast Train!!

by Luvnaz on 2014-01-14Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The boys from the east still have it as they kicked ass at the Calgary Deerfoot Casino on the weekend. Hey, Myles Goodwyn has a personality now too!!!

  • Two Memorable Canadian Bands

by GABA on 2013-12-03Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

A Foot in Cold Water played for about 45 minutes and sounded fantastic - they played all of their hits, plus a few cover tunes. The sound was great and the voice was still there. I had never seen them at their peak but seeing how good they still are, I sure wish I had. April Wine played for about 90 minutes and covered a lot of there Rock tunes with a couple of their ballads in the mix. I was fairly close to the stage, so they seemed a bit on the loud side, but friends near the back said that they thought it was just fine. As a lifetime April Wine fan, I was really pleased when Myles Goodwyn introduced two of the three original Henman boys, who were his original bandmates on the first two albums. One of them joined the band for the classic song - Should Have Been a Lady. Overall they played nothing but hits and still left several classics unplayed. Would like to have seen a longer set with a few more of their classic ballads (perhaps with Myles on the piano) - but still a great night of nostalgia and good music.

  • April Wine was awesome as always

by Trespassing on 2013-12-02Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Went to the Jingle Ball just to see April Wine but Michael White got the crowd revved up and A Foot in Cold Water was really good also and then April Wine was without a doubt the best.

  • Loved April Wine

Well done, music was great and performances excellent," sight lines became blurred" especially for the people in the back but for the price it all works Q- Giving out 'swag' was nice but throwing into his crowd seemed a little outdated, but do not have an alternative, although I feel that people would be willing to buy ' Q' stuff if it came available. overall well done Q
