April Wine was OK, my main reason was going to see Trooper.- they did not disappoint. They sound exactly the same - time and age has not altered their voices.

  • Won't go back!

Poor sound system. Long admission lines. Too many guitar, drum and piano solos. Why can"t they play the radio version?

  • Trooper remains Canada's Best "Bar Band"

by naturalredhead on 2013-08-26Servus Credit Union Place - Northstar Hyundai Arena - St AlbertRating: 4 out of 5

Was so excited to see these great Canadian bands & together to boot! Unfortunately, April Wine (Goodwyn especially) sounded like they hadn't even warmed up their vocals. Only a few songs were decent. Too many guitar solos and the unnecessary telling us of what the song was! We're fans, we know! As far as April Wine goes, I'll keep them in my CD collection but will not spend money to see them again. After a brief stage change, Trooper hit the stage, full energy in tow! They rocked the house from start to finish (2hrs). I knew every word to every song (except the one new one)! I never stopped moving or singing! Will be watching for them again! Sorry that I waited as long as I did!

  • Trooper was fantastic, still know how to rock!

This evening was great. The bands knew how to keep things rocking.

  • Fabulous 70's and 80's music

by neongirl on 2013-08-19Servus Credit Union Place - Northstar Hyundai Arena - St AlbertRating: 5 out of 5

We so enjoyed the songs and memories from the past listening to April Wine and Trooper. It was fun to see so many adults that were once teenagers listening to the music back in the day when the songs first came out on the radio. It truly was a memorable evening. Thank you to the event organizers!!!

  • Trooper rocks!

by Denn on 2013-08-19Servus Credit Union Place - Northstar Hyundai Arena - St AlbertRating: 3 out of 5

The opening act Campus Thieves was not needed. Nobody was really listening to them. Their inclusion just added an hour to the overall evening making the end too late. With 2 great bands already there did not need to be an opening act. April Wine and Trooper were more than enough. The operators need to control liquor sales more as a couple of patrons had too much to drink and were still buying more. Thankfully they were escorted out as they were disturbing other fans.

  • Venue needs acoustic improvements

Bands were great. Bad acoustics in venue made many well known songs almost unrecognizable.

  • April Wine Good but Trooper was Amazing !

by Moochie on 2013-08-19Servus Credit Union Place - Northstar Hyundai Arena - St AlbertRating: 5 out of 5

I went more for April Wine and they were very good but Trooper, Wow. I forgot how much i liked them back in the day. I knew every single Trooper song and loved every second of it. April Wine got better as it went along and they finished strong but I would have loved to hear more songs I knew better. They have such a large catalogue of songs. Still loved them though, the new drummer is awesome. :)

  • Night to forget

Two of the solos by Trooper were terrible! The guitar solo was awful and the keyboard solo was painful. If these guys want to experiment then do it in the confines of your own studio, not at my expense. I am a huge April Wine fan and was disappointed by their performance. Myles can't hit the high notes and overall their sound was muddy.

  • Prett cool concert for St. Albert

by Delybo on 2013-08-19Servus Credit Union Place - Northstar Hyundai Arena - St AlbertRating: 5 out of 5

April Wine (one of my favourite bands) was wonderful to see. But, surprisingly, Trooper rocked the house. It as a big, fun party with a mostly 50-ish crowd and a sprinkling of cool young people too. Just a whole lot of rockin' fun in St. Albert.

All the bands were good especially Trooper they sounded awsome and played all the great songs I know.

  • April Wine Rocked!

by aprilwinerules on 2013-06-19Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This concert venue was absolutely perfect, we had the option of sitting but we stood at the back by the bar and had a perfect view. It was hands down THE best concert I have ever attended. Of course the fact that April Wine absolutely rules helped a lot, but the venue was very intimate and it wasn't too crowded or loud. I will definitely go and see them again if I have the chance!!

April Wine was quite a disappointing event. They played very few of their old hits and fan favorites. I didn't recognize many of the songs they did play and some of those were much too loud (base was too much).

  • April Wine's way to short concert!!

by Bobh on 2013-06-17Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

This could have been an amazing concert but it was really short. What a disappointment! I've waited a long time to see these guys and they played a total of 1.5 hours which included the 1 song encore. If that wasn't sad enough, they had to mention that they were heading to Toronto right away. So what does that mean? You cut our concert short because you had to get to another city? And that city is more important????? Really not cool. And for such a great iconic band it just hurt that much more.

The instrumentals were great but the vocals were VERY poor. I realize after 40 years that we all age but I would have never identified Myles' voice with the voice I remembered and loved. Sorry, but I was very disappointed.

  • Great show

Great show fantastic music and a good time by all awesome

  • Hugely dissappointed

    by lealea11 on 2012-11-09Shell Theatre-Dow Centennial Centre - Fort SaskatchewanRating: 1 out of 5

Myles stopped in the middle of the 2nd or 3rd song to yell at a guy in the first row recording the performance. As much as that guy was at fault, it ruined the whole vibe of the show. I don't understand why he didn't ask security to handle the situation because it made everyone feel incredibly uncomfortable. He later pointed out another person on the balcony. Security stood on the side of the stage shinning flashlights at anyone they thought was recording or taking photos - this couldn't have been more distracting. A young man asked the band in between songs to autograph his record from the 70's. Myles refused, rudely dismissed the guy but told him the band would be out afterwards to sign autographs. Our group waited over half an hour after the concert to get an autograph (in hopes this would redeem the overall experience). We were then informed by security that the band wouldn't be coming out at all.

  • April Wine still rocks

by Charno on 2012-11-07Shell Theatre-Dow Centennial Centre - Fort SaskatchewanRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great time at April Wine Nov 5, in Fort Saskatchewan. I used to enjoy their concerts in Kimberley BC as a teenager. Was just as pumped to see them as any other band. Thanks for a good night.

  • April Wine brought back good memories

by jpaxton on 2012-11-07Shell Theatre-Dow Centennial Centre - Fort SaskatchewanRating: 4 out of 5

The first song was a bit sketchy but it went up hill from there. They can still rock and the sound at Dow was excellant. LOVED IT. April Wine was my husbands favorite band and he also loved it. Would go again!
