  • April wine

Prism was energetic and fun. Lead singer enthusiast and put on a great show. Played hits. April wine - just a couple hits. Unnecessary bass and drum solos when more hits could have been played. So disappointing. Lead singer cranky. Seemed like he didn’t want to be there. And boring.

  • Even Better Live

    by Wildmist62 on 2017-05-30Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I've always been a fan, even have their greatest hits CD and play it lots. But never expected them to exceed the CD. They did, they rocked the place and was truly one of the best concerts I've ever seen. If you want to see a great rock band, I highly recommend going to see these guys. They are really down to earth too, seen the bass player in the hall and when I let him know how awesome I thought his playing was, he thanked me.

  • Amazing!

Closed my eyes and it was 1979 again. These guys haven't lost a thing. Even improved! Vocals, music, humour, everything! Thanks for an amazing memory, April Wine!!

  • April Wine...Stand Back!

    by stix16 on 2017-05-30Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

April Wine still knows how to rock...enjoyable show, captured most of the hits you'd want to hear. Little disappointed with the fact, they wrapped up after about 90 minutes, only one encore, and had they played the 3-4 songs that were 'missing', so to speak, the show would have pushed 2 hours and been a much better memory. All in all, go and see them if you get the chance, they like to rock. They did not allow pics or vids to be taken, too bad.

  • April Wine was good

Once they got started and worked through some of the sound issues they were having were great. They have a lot of popular songs and did a good job. I would definitely recommend to go see them.

This was the worst concert I've ever been to. The sound was so poor that I felt like leaving after the second song. The feedback and distortion was made worse by the volume, which was so loud we could hardly hear the vocals. I only stayed to hear my favorite song "tonight is a wonderful night", only to be further disappointed when it was never played. This was a date night for my spouse and I and it sucked big time!!

  • Too old to sing

by Anonymous on 2015-05-13River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5

Too many solo acts. Didn't play 2 enough old hit songs. Thats the reason why were there, for the old hits.

  • April Wine at Riverrock was disappointing

by BarnabyJones on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 1 out of 5

Very poor sound quality in the River Rock. Myles' guitar was noisy loud, and Brian's vocals were too quiet. The bassist and Drummer (new members) were great. Myles stopped the entire band just as they were about to enter the chorus of "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" to scorn an audience member for taking a photo and/or video with their phone. Really? You are going to interrupt the enjoyment of a 1000 people in the theatre just to scorn one person?? Couldn't wait until the end of the song Myles? Ruined the song and tainted the evening for me. And some long solos multiple times during the night slowed the show down unnecessarily in my opinion. Some audience members were yelling out to the band to "play your own music" when they started playing the Stones' "Satisfaction" in the middle of the show. Really - the worst show I've been to primarily due to horrible mic balances and garage quality sound.

  • April Wine still Rocks

Nothing against the venue as we did like it. Never been to River Rock before and found our seats were in a great location. We're glad we were not in front rows as people go stand in front of stage so if you want to see when you have your seats down there you would be standing too. Lots of people drinking in there and spilling as the lady beside us found out from the drunk guy sitting behind her. I was surprised they allow the drinks in there durning show. Upon leaving so much of the floor is all sticky with spilt alcohol. April Wine on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. I know they are a lot older so you can't really expect them to sound the same but when they sang a Beattles song and a Rolling Stones one and yelled out to someone that they were trying their best to play what we wanted, I was thinking we'll sing your own songs then

  • Waste of time!

by mant on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 1 out of 5

Prior to the concert I played their hit songs on You Tube. In the concert the music was so loud that you couldn't make out what song they were playing, as well as the vocals. When asked to play certain songs by the audience they outright refused. They even stopped playing during one song to tell a fan to stop recording treating them like a child. At one point even swore. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I thinks it's time for April Wine to retire. To add insult, 4 older degenerates in the row in front of us were more interested in drinking then the show, still caught up in the 60's. My wife and I left half way thru the show and enjoyed great live music in the casino lounge.

  • April wine was less than great

by Hophenster on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5

The band seemed unrefined like they haven't practiced enough and there was longer than there should be pauses between songs. The lead singer was most unusual and accused a member of the audience of smoking (not sure if they were but felt he should of mentioned it to a stagehand that could let security know) also during another song he actually stopped playing and singing to let a member of the audience know there was no filming allowed. There was then heckling from other audience members. I have never seen anything like it and I attend many concerts in many venues and other cities.

  • April Wine was just OK

by Destino on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 3 out of 5

We went to April Wine to hear their classic hits but they missed several. What was with them playing a cover of Beatles and Rolling Stones??? Drummer was very impressive.

To bad I couldn't get my money back. We go to hear there hits not guitar and drum solo's and songs from other more famous artists.

  • April Wine was disappointing

by Ilse on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 2 out of 5

I was disappointed with the fans and the lead singer. Between songs, in front of everyone, the lead singer got angry at a fan for smoking in the building and the fan left. He wasn't the only fan to walk out during the concert where April Wine did not play their greatest hits which is what fans wanted to hear. In the middle of a really good song, the lead singer stopped the band from playing while he got angry at someone for videoing the song. I've never been to a concert where a band did things like that. Usually that's handled by security. It was all very unprofessional including some fans yelling out at the band in anger for not playing all of their greatest hits to which the lead singer said they didn't have time to do them all. They played mostly rock songs and played other cover songs by Beatles/Stones. The lead singer introduced two of his band members as being gay. I'm not too sure why he felt the need to share their sexual orientation with their fans. This had no place in the concert and seemed derogatory. People also complained about the drum and bass guitar solos since these were new younger and unknown members of the band. It's too bad because all the negativity outweighed what should have been a great concert. Very unprofessional behaviour on the lead singer's part. Fans didn't behave well either which was unfortunate but the other band members were professional. What should have been a fun night out that I paid good money for ended up being a bit of an awkward gong show that I was unfortunate to be stuck in the middle of.

  • April Wine is not what they used to be!

by Dolphinman on 2015-05-12River Rock Casino Resort - RichmondRating: 3 out of 5

What you can expect at an April Wine concert; 1. Lots of LOUD instrumentals when Miles Goodwin wanders off behind the stage. 2. At least one interruption (he stopped in the middle of a song) to scold people for shooting video. 3. The younger members to be carrying most of the show. 4. Some GREAT April Wine tunes, where if you closed your eyes were as good as the originals (he still has a really amazing voice). 5. Even though they didn't play all of their hits, they found time to throw in a Rolling Stones tune (I think this was to give Miles a break). Miles suffers from Diabetes and moves really slowly (I couldn't help feeling he was suffering on stage). If you're a fan it is still worth seeing them...just be prepared.

  • Great!

they played a few of the old songs, which where great,. threw in a couple songs that where not there's? never could figure out why any of the bands would play music from others, we did buy tickets to there concert . the venue was a little small for the volume they played at. overall had fun and enjoyed.

  • April Wine was Forgettable

    by 1concertgirl on 2015-05-10Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 1 out of 5

The sound was horrible, right from the start of the show. It was way too loud for that space. Have seen AW at the Casino, and a smaller venue, enjoyed those performances. Disappointed in the set list. With so many awesome tunes............I didn't go to listen to guitar solos and then a drum solo. I wanted to hear the hits.
