Went to the Arkells show last year in Hamilton, this show was awesome if not better than last year (if that is even possible).

The band was absolutely amazing! I saw them on their last tour and this concert was way better! They put on an awesome show!

  • Forget the review, go see them now, right now.

The development of the Arkells stage presence keeps growing and some how they manage to never loose their connectedness with their fans. They keep the energy high from start to finish while roping you in more and more with each song. I was at this show with people who'd never seen them and their live show will turn you into an instant fan.

  • The Arkells were a lot of fun

by Enahs on 2011-12-05Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The Arkells put on a great show. Their music sounded great, and their performance was great as well. They covered Hall and Oates "Make Your Dreams Come True" in their encore. The Sound Academy was full and it was a fun crowd. They spliced in a bit of the Black Keys song "Lonely Boy" during Pullin' Punches as well.

  • Arkells were absolutely fantastic!

    by CassandraS12 on 2011-12-04Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Saw them last night at the Sound Academy. Opening up for the Arkells was We Barbarians, who were also excellent, they have a good bassist. Both bands but especially the Arkells brought so much energy to the stage; the show was consistently getting better, each song topping the last. I would definitely go again and recommend anyone to see one of their shows live!

  • Amazing!

Quite possibly one of the best bands I have ever seen live.

  • Arkells can party!

by mintnasty on 2011-11-21Louis' Pub - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

One of the greatest live shows I've ever seen. Arkells kept me dancing and singing along the whole night. Very cool and laidback band, but at the same time were also high-energy and engaged in the crowd. The lead singer's response to almost getting smoked in the face by his mic stand after it was kicked by a drunk crowd-surfer... "geez you guys are a rowdy crowd." He laughed it off and continued to thank the crowd for coming to the show. Very humble and amazing band. Oh, and if you think they sound good recorded... they sound way better live. They're real musicians.

They sound better live than recorded on CD! Louis' Pub is a great venue to go see a show.

Great show but hated that is was 16+... its ok to be excited about a show but kids were just plain annoying. The singers mic was knocked over 3 times. Brutal

Great concert. Loved the small venue choice. Very high energy performance and a great mix of new and old material.

  • First and last time I see the Arkells

by Anonymous on 2011-11-15Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Although the Arkells are great song writers, their live performance is another story. For some reason, only a handful of bands that i've seen at the Commodore have had good sound. Unfortunately, the Arkells fall in the majority of the poorer sounding bands. The main issue was the vocals and guitar not coming out well; especially for songs such as Book Club and Whistle Blower. Overall though, the entire band sound did not come together for me. A further disappointment was their ridiculously short setlist. I am aware that they have only produced two albums, but it doesn't justify only playing a handful of songs. It doesn't make sense that I pay the same price for say a Tokyo Police Club show that is way longer. On another note, the opening band was the worst group I've ever witnessed. Rich Aucion heavily relied on visuals to distract the audience from their horrible music which was a disgusting mix of dance and rock music accompanied by annoying, senseless lyrics. Now that the Arkells have produced two solid records, it's time to work on a proper live performance and get a proper opening act.

  • The Arkells ROCK live!

by meedles on 2011-11-13Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I can't say enough about this Canadian band, they are so much fun live - fantastic energy, great sound - you never want it to end. This is the third time I've seen them, and I'll make a point to go the next time they're in town.

  • faaaaantastic

awesome venue - awesome bands.... everyone had a great time... All the bands came back at the end to cover "Run to You" by Brian Adams. Classic!

  • Arkells and Sweet Thing Rocked!!!

by CaptainCooter on 2010-12-16Studio at Hamilton Place - Hamilton, ONRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing concert. From the awesome and intimate atmosphere at the Studio at Hamilton Place, to the opening acts that got the crowd warmed up, to the Arkells giving a spirited show to their home town and finally the encore when all 3 bands were on stage playing Bryan Adams - Run to You! Sweet Thing was an amazing opening band with tons of energy. I hadn't heard of them before the show and ended up buying a t-shirt and CD. The Arkells played two new songs from the new album they are working on which sounded like the new album is going to be pretty special. All in all it was a great Thursday night!

  • All is well with the Arkells

by bertwas on 2010-12-14The Studio at Hamilton Place - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show from start to finish. I brought 6 other friends that didn't know much or anything about the band, and they came out clapping through songs and even singing some of the words. The Arkells were full of energy and their sound surpased the recordings on their album. Highly recommened for a great show and they will be a huge Canadian band one day if they continue to produce albums like "Jackson Square". Can't wait for the next show!!!

  • Arkells were astounding!

by bngmcq on 2010-12-13The Studio at Hamilton Place - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was full of energy from the opening band to the final bow. We were able to get a table with seats in the tier and watch the show from above. As I said we were entertained from the very beginning note. Unfortunately, we were not allowed drinks in the venue which was a little annoying. But when seeing a few unruly and irresponsible young people, understandable.
