The show is absolutely gorgeous. Love it very much. Music, colour, backdrops, and so on. I have to wait for another year. Looking forward to the next year's Shen Yun Performance!

My 4 year old daughter sat through the whole show. I really love the show's story based pieces! Their live orchestra was one of the kind! Will take the family to see it again!
Fantastic artistry in dance! Flowing, colorful fabrics on very agile dancers was a delight to the visual sense. Orchestration using a combination of western musical instruments and the 2 oriental ones was extremely pleasing to the ear. A further marvel, considering that these musical pieces are created new each year. BUT When I pay to view a cultural dance/ musical performance, I do not wish to be inundated with Falun Gong philosophy/ religion. This view point was also the consensus of numerous other audience members attending this Shen Yun performance. Should this practice continue, it will turn off potential audience members returning for a follow-up Shen Yun event. The soloists did not add to the beauty of the show.
My 4 year old sat still through the whole show! We loved the show so much! I cannot wait to see their next year's show!
After seeing all advertisements one is to expect flowless show like a Circus de Soleil, in fact flow of the show is constantly broken up with closure of the curtain and announcements of the next number. More like a concert with many separate performers. Some of the performances are of exceptional choreography and mastery of dancers, but overall impression is far from what promotional material led to believe.
Although the water dance, which is featured in their commercials, was extremely beautiful it was only about 15 minutes of the show. There were a few funny skits but the second half was beyond awful. Chinese police blinding citizens for practising religion & singing songs against evolution was not the entertainment I expected. These tickets were a gift & we both said never again would we attend a Shen Yun performance as they are disturbing. Cult like & all about hating China. This is an American dance group out of New York.
we were expecting more of an acrobatic show, there is almost none just a few flips. It is a Chinese ballet I would not have bought tickets if I had known
Very much enjoyed the show. The Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium was full for this event.
Unimpressive choreography that was driven too much, and in a very clunky way, by a political/religious messages, which detracted from the dance. I not only found it du state’s full, but also felt like I was being brainwashed! And I resented that. In fact, though the dance group is clearly (and understandably) anti-comminist, I felt as if they are employing the same underhand techniques of shoving their propaganda at the audience in an uncreative and underhanded way. I felt manipulated and misled by the advertising campaign. For this was not a high-quality dance show at all (nothing like eg. Cirque du Soleil), but an outlet for propaganda, which I find utterly distasteful. The worst parts of the performance were the he overtly political scenes, the singing which sounded gratingly out of tune (yet alone the clunky propaganda being sung about), the two masters of ceremony sounded like used-car salesmen and talked far too much between the scenes. I would not attend this performance again and would not recommend it to anyone. I think focusing on the artistic side of the dance, without constantly shoving political/religious messages at the audience would be far more effective and give the company greater credence.
We liked the show, the colors, the costumes design, and the short sketches. But the difficulty level was not up to the level!
Very repetitive. The dentures were extremely talented and the costumes were very bright. Unfortunately it was the same dance over and over and over. The dentures were extremely talented and the costumes were very bright. Unfortunately it was the same dance over and over and over
This show was a huge disappointment- the costumes were beautiful and that’s the most I can say about it. Sad we spent this much money on such a disappointing show
This whole production just felt like propaganda to me. I was particularly bothered by the two performances that were sung with some lyrics that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Essentially claiming that atheism, science and technology are failings of modern society. I beg to differ. Just my opinion, but I wish I hadn’t wasted my money to see this.
It was truly entertaining. Incredible dancing, the music was breathtaking, and the technology was phenomenal. Humour also played a part to make it entertainment at its finest. It told a beautiful story depicting the life of the Chinese people prior to Communism. I would definitely recommend Shen Yun to be part of your bucket list.
I brought my 9 yr old daughter and we both really enjoyed the entire production.
Very interesting to say the least. Not knowing the History of other countries really brings out the power of dance and the meaning behind it. Sharing their culture and beliefs makes this a must to see. The Dance and Dancers are without a doubt very passionate about their history and culture. A very good Performance.
The element of Falun Dalu throughout the performance was more propaganda than art. Choreography was good but boring. Overall very disappointed with the production.
I really enjoyed the costumes that were so vivid with colour! The music was especially noticed since it was a mixture of western instruments and ancient Chinese instruments. The music was a live band! So beautiful!
