BASTILLE IN CONCERT:

Fans lucky enough to catch Bastille on their 2013/14 world tour can count their lucky stars —as one of the fastest rising groups in British music, the band's days of performing in smaller venues are certainly numbered. Boasting good looks and a winning blend of indie rock, hip hop, and synthpop, the four chaps from London have a knack for connecting with audiences at their carousing live concerts, entering the crowd to mingle with adoring fans and pose for the occasional mid-set photo op. With a string of highly anticipated US tour dates and a Coachella appearance in 2014, Bastille are well on their way to storming the American mainstream.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bastille formed around the solo project of singer-songwriter Dan Smith, who shares his birthday with France's historic Bastille Day. The band's 2010 debut single "Flaws" was an underground hit, leading to a 2012 deal with Virgin records that resulted in the band's 2013 debut LP Bad Blood. The album peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned six singles, including the international No. 1 "Pompeii." A reissue and remix version of the album in late 2013 drummed up anticipation for the band's 2014 world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The energy was incredible and the crowd and venue great. Dan came out into the crowd during his signature Flaws performance which was truly an experience."

"Bastille is amazing live! Dan is a true talent and mastermind! Kyle killed it on keyboard, Woody was awesome on drums, and Will rocked on the bass."

"The whole band rocked the house and performed all of their best songs off of their album Bad Blood in front of a sold out crowd who was jamming and singing along."

    Amazing Bastille!!

by smartgrl on 2016-10-16The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Bastille were fabulous!! They played an excellent show and were great with the crowd. Dan's voice is so pure and sounds absolutely incredible live. They are a band that should be seen at least once, live, by everyone! Nothing but great things to say!

Ahh Bastille always a good time

by Roanna on 2016-10-11The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This would be the third time seeing Bastille, and the Danforth Music Hall was definitely the best venue for them, just small enough that you could get up close and personal to the band - especially when Dan ran through the crowd ended up standing on the barstand and than ran back to through the crowd to get back on stage. Their music may seem mellow on the album but they put on a great show, and they sound exactly like their recorded stuff and yet better maybe because it's just louder!

Didn't know what to expect, but Bastille delivered

by Al26 on 2014-11-20Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I had only heard a few songs of Bastille before and went into this concert not knowing what to expect, however I was pleasantly surprised. As an avid concert goer (10+ per year), I can honestly say this concert would be in my top 3. Bastille sounded amazing live and kept the crowd dancing throughout the whole show. Bastille is one of the very few bands that sound just as good live as they do in the studio, or maybe, even better live. Amazing experience overall.

    Bastille always brings it!

by Kris4815 on 2014-10-27Air Canada Centre - Toronto

It's hard to believe that this time last year, Bastille played at the Phoenix -- a small indie venue in Toronto -- and then fast forward to earlier this month, they wowed a stadium-sized crowd at the city's Air Canada Centre. Incredible how one hit in North America really opened the door for this charming British band. Even with their mainstream success, Bastille is still as down to earth as ever with a fun and relaxed stage presence. Every song, from debut album hits to covers, was a crowd pleaser. Personally loved: the Coldplay-sounding "Laughter Lines", Dan's falsetto in the emotional "Oblivion," their grunge-inspired "The Draw," and their "Rhythm of the Night" cover.

It was the best part OF THE NIGHT

by Roanna on 2014-10-24Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Seeing Bastille for the second time was just as epic as the first time, if not more! Opening band Grizfolk - who sounded like a cross between Imagine Dragons and Kings of Leon (in a good way) - did a great job getting the audience ready for the main event. Bastille opened strong with "Things We Lost in the Fire", and from then on, it was a non-stop dance party. Frontman Dan Smith was entertaining and engaging, and really got the crowd moving, especially during "Of The Night", and when he ran around the ACC during "Flaws". Their set was energetic all the way to the end of the fantastic closing song, "Pompeii". Definitely looking forward to their return!

    Unbelievable!!!

by Becca1234 on 2014-10-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Bastille put on an amazing show! Dan is a great singer and can hit all the high notes, it was incredible! The stadium was well kept and clean, although i did not like the fact that the lids on the water bottles had to be thrown away!

Bastille met but didn't exceed expectations

by Anonymous on 2014-10-21Air Canada Centre - Toronto

The was okay however there seemed to be a sound issue and it was difficult to hear the vocals throughout most of the show. There was a very different audience in attendance than I was expecting however I liked how the venue was shrunk down for a smaller event. Overall had an enjoyable experience but I'm not likely to buy tickets again for the same band.

    Best concert, hands down!

by LNDNLOVER on 2014-10-21Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Bought GA tickets to see my favourite band live for the first time. The show was perfect - their presence and energy on stage, especially Dan's, was electrifying. I love that they interacted with the audience and made sure that we were dancing and jumping around. Hands down, the best concert I have been to. Thank you, Bastille. xx

by Tokidoki42 on 2014-10-21Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Bastille sang amazing ☺ I loved the fact that they saved Pompeii for the last song in the encore and got the opening band Grisfolk to come up on stage and sing with them ☺

by WaWa12 on 2014-10-21Air Canada Centre - Toronto

You know you're seeing a great band when they sound just as good or even better live than they do on their album and this was certainly the case with Bastille. Will definitely see them again next time they are in town

Bastille are talented, creative, genuine, energetic and perfect. Dan's voice is amazing live. The light show was adding so much ambiance. Excellent band to see live. Apparently they did a surprise performance the night before at The Pheonix!

    Blown Away*

by seriousrabbit on 2014-10-20Air Canada Centre - Toronto

It was my son's first live show and it was astounding. Bastille are an incredibly humble, passionate and polite band that are better live than recorded. Their attention to the crowd paired with their artistic sensibilities make them a must see.
