BECK IN CONCERT:
Alt-rock icon and master of reinvention Beck made a return to form of sorts in 2014 with Morning Phase, a companion album to 2002's beloved Sea Change. Eschewing the irony and sampling featured prominently in many of his other outings, Beck's latest is awash with earnest optimism and acoustic instrumentation — the result is a lush, organic, emotionally charged tour de force that comes across as beautifully in live concert as it does on record. Backed by a full band, Beck hits the road in 2014 for the Morning Phase tour, which includes a much-anticipated appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Beck moved to New York in 1989 and cut his teeth in the city's anti-folk scene before returning to Los Angeles in 1991. In 1993, his limited-release single "Loser" became a surprise college radio favorite, eventually growing into a mainstream Top 10 hit and garnering him a flood of label offers. Signing with Geffen Records, he released Mellow Gold in 1994, launching to both critical and commercial success virtually overnight. 1996 follow-up Odelay would prove even more successful, spawning three hit singles and taking home several Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album. In the ensuing years, Beck's creativity and fearless experimentation have made him one of pop music's most idiosyncratic talents — the acclaimed 2014 release of Morning Phase, his twelfth studio album, proved that he's just as vital today as he was 20 years ago.

I know Beck's music, and the sound only if Beck sounded poorly mixed. Like his voice was very soft versus instruments, which sounded unclear and with some noise. Otherwise it was great!
what an amazing night! spoon was even better-sounding live and just cranking out their best gems with style and charm.. loved your set. cage the elephant.. wow.. just wow! it’s the band that made us buy the tickets in the first place and we were absolutely blown away by their performance. matt is pure art in motion and he left us everything he had; shifting flawlessly from fluidity and rhythm to razor-sharp control. it was a gorgeous bit of madness and we loved every second! i got to hear every song i love and what a gift it was. <3 beck... beck, you were just so perfect and lovely to watch! it was SO fun to relive all our favourite jams that we remembered and some we forgot. :) an excellent mix of old and new, tied up with perfect lighting and video effects. you have such a charismatic, relevant and positive presence; just a professional through and through! pure class and poetry; that is you.. we just wanna stay up all night with you, too!! :D five hours of concert, what a beautiful night.. the venue was perfect; people on the floor dancing, people dressed up for a fabulous night out and people just rockin right out! a festival has nothing on that upscale, organized party. thanks, everyone... our favourite night so far!
It was the best concert I have been to this year. Starcrawler though weird was entertaining. Spoon did not disappoint. Cage the Elephant was amazing what a performance wow all I can say. Maybe my new favourite band. Beck as alway played a great set that was well thought out. Love him
Beck started the show with great energy and it kept elevating. He was charismatic and personal and quite humorous as well.
The band performed a good selection of songs from the newest to the oldest. Beck has a really great way of engaging with his audience. There were some technical difficulties during the show, and he put on a fun improvised acoustic one man show while all the other musicians left the stage. I also enjoyed the tributes the band did to Prince, Talking Heads and others. AND we got to sing Happy Birthday to Beck! Lastly, the concert graphics and animations were very colorful and fun to watch.
Beck's performance was personal and entertaining! So glad we celebrated his birthday in Toronto!
Really a great performance by Beck. He is travelling through the majority of his albums.

Great show and visuals. However, I found the show to be too loud which was a detriment to the overall sound quality. Louder does not mean better.
Beck was great but the sound mix was way too bassy which muddied up Becks voice making it hard to hear him and it over powered all the other instruments. Made the show not as enjoyable as I hoped!
Beck is an awesome musician! He put on a great show and venue was awesome!
His songs were the reason I was going to the show. His choice of songs, the delivery and the sheer joy of music was felt throughout the show. Loved it! Left me wanting to turn into a fangirl and follow him to his other Toronto dates.
This was the 4th time I saw Beck, he never disappointed me. Great songs and performance took us audience to a journey. I always think - Beck doens't just sing, dance, or play. He does music.
Had such a great time at the concert. Beck's performance was amazing. He, the band and backup crew made the show a cornucopia for the senses!! The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed people watching - the crowd was incredibly diversified - the demographic range speaks to his creative reach. Watching a concert where the singer/band sound just as good live as they do on an album (Spotify!!), is such a treat. And, he's funny....and very cool!! Loved every minute.
Beck had the crowd into a frenzy in the first song. We danced all night and had an absolute blast!
awesome concert. If people would sit all the time and not block from the front. Foods drinks are over priced but just bring my own snack. And I'm good to go
Oh Wonder and Beck provided a great night of entertainment. We could not have had a better evening. Even the weather cooperated....
I was so disappointed to find that the sound quality at the venue was horrible. It was evident at the opening act Oh Wonder, when the bass was too loud and distorted. It made it very difficult to hear the keyboards and vocals. I hoped that it would not be the case for Beck, who I adore, but unfortunately it was. Some of my favourite songs were almost unrecognizable until 1 min in. I couldn't hear the keyboards, or Beck's vocals very well at all.
His voice was perfect! He’s so energetic! Band was incredible! Set list amazing! Loved every minute of it and so did the crowd!! Would see him in a heartbeat again!!! Thank you BECK for a fabulous night!!!
