The show started with the opening act Hey’King! We had never heard of them before and they were great!!! The audience really had a lot of love for both acts. Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite got everyone up and dancing. What an unforgettable night.
Awesome show,so glad we went. Ben Harper is extraordinary,Charlie Musselwhite a true legend, what a combo!
Great show! Charlie was great as usual and Ben was like being at a revival blues show!
One of the best concerts I've seen in years. Well over 2 hours of blues, soul, rock, and everything in-between. Great harmonica licks by Musselwhite, and powerful, heartfelt vocals by Harper. Would watch these guys again in a heartbeat!
Awesome show, awesome sound, awesome venue! Would give 10 stars if I could
My wife and I had a miserable experience at the Ben Harper concert. Normally the sound is quite good at the Orpheum Theatre, but on this occasion, it was too loud and over-emphasized the drumming, especially the kick drum. Boom, boom, boom! It was so much, I dashed out to London Drugs to buy earplugs. We are blues fans so we came mostly to hear the fabulous Charlie Musselwhite who was lost in the mix. In the middle of the tenth row, we could see the guy, but couldn't hear him play. Aside from two solos and an acoustic set, Charlie was drowned out by the rest of the band! We finally went out to the lobby and watched the concert on the video feed and that was marginally better. We were not alone out there. I've written to the Orpheum to find out if it was their own sound guy or somebody touring with Ben Harper's band responsible for this audio assault.
Amazing show. Worth every cent. The blues were in the house.
I am not a blues fan, I went for a friend, having said that I had a fabulous time. The Orpheum can’t be beat, what a beautiful and comfortable venue. Ben has an interesting stance on stage, with his use of the mike, and his “Jeff Healey” guitar style. The crowd loved them. Unfortunately the back up band was not complementary, a more upbeat band would have suited me more.My friend found the acoustics sharp and loud, she had us move more to the middle and higher up for better sound.....I am an old rocker and was fine with the sound
We’ve seen Charlie a few times, this collaboration was our favourite performance! It was a first for Ben & we were pleasantly surprised- he really shredded on the slide guitar. Outstanding concert.
Ben Harper is a fantastic performer. Combined with Charlie it made for a terrific blues show. My wife and I loved it.
Awesome blues! Loved the oh so cool Charlie. Ben has a dry sense of humour but he also shared his values. His passion, when he sang, was palpable.
greatest slide guitarist & harmonica I've ever heard live
Ben Harper is always one of the best shows! Such a talent
So much talent, so well displayed. Unreal show. Musselwhite is getting better with age!
Fantastic performances in a fun and intimate environment. Harper’s talent, charisma, storytelling are evident throughout.
Ben Harper is amazing musician and his band were very professional. Love that Mr. Harper chatted with the audience about how certain songs came about, he touched a bit on the current political scene in the States, etc. Made him more personable. We waited almost an hour before he came onstage which put a damper on the evening but in the end Mr. Harper delivered.
Opener Hey King was good. Then 2 hours of non-stop blues party action
A great blues show featuring the iconic Charlie Musselwhite
Excellent performance. Harper was great and Musselwhite is a music icon with lots of jam. Enjoyed warm up band - liked their music.
