    Waited ten years

by CEMS on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I've been an avid Ben Howard fan for about 10yrs. Was immensely excited that he came to Canada and I was able to see him. In my opinion, he is a musical genius and played so. The only thing that crushed me a little is that he did not play 2 of his most beloved songs by fans in the crowd.. people were calling out for the song to be played in hopes that he saved them for the encore. Unfortunately, I and a few other fans I overheard were saddened that certain popular songs were not played. But at the end, he is the artist and it is his perogative...just would have been nice.

Extremely talented guitarist but really wish he’d played some more old favorites. Was 90% new album and a little too much on the dark side.

    Amazing show

    by BT21 on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Wish he played a few more of his oldies but it was to be expected. Visuals were great and his voice and band sound as good as the album

Very slow paced (new music only)

    by Cris8615 on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I've been a fan of Ben Howard since his first album. His second album was also very good. But every other album since then hasn't hit any "charts" by any means, and he decided to ignore his whole beloved repertoire of music that his a large percentage of his fans fell in love with. As a past musician, I learned that the music that made you famous should never be ignored. I would have given Ben Howard a higher rating if he even played OND of his big hits. But he didn't. All. In all, it was a huge snoozefest. His new album has no real catchy hits and IMO, the hole concert bored the fuck outta me.

I had such a high hope and expectation for the concert as Ben Howard is one of my fav. singer. However, the whole 1.5 hr concert was mainly based on his newest album, with maybe one of his older songs. And there was no connection or engagement with the artist either. It was also an outdoor venue, which being Oct in Toronto, was pretty cold and windy. I miss the warm, hopeful, energetic Ben Howard from the old days.

    Too cold

by Aprilann on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

So the show was ok except it was freezing and I don't know if it's because it was outside but it wasn't very loud. Ben looked very tired I woulda paid my ticket money to let him sleep Holy. Also he didn't play more than 3 good songs. Noone likes noon day dream Ben.

    Ben’s average show

by Being on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Ben’s an incredible artist and his previous show at Massey hall was so spectacular that I saw it two days in a row. This show however did not offer the same vibe. Maybe because there was little connection with the audience as venue was larger and outdoors so it didn’t feel as intimate. It was also very cold that night. Ben played songs mostly from new album which was expected but he didn’t add to their intensity. Usually he amplifies and intensifies the performance of a song in comparison to his recorded version. The lighting effects were cool overall. I’m glad he did a couple of his older songs and played for 2hrs.

    So disappointed

    by Jo40 on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Second worse concert I have ever been to. Disappointed with the set list, connection with the crowd and overall performance. I kept thinking it would get better but it never did. I left early along with a steady stream of people.

There was no energy and he didn’t seem invested

by LaurenceBT on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

I didn’t enjoy the show at all. I have been a huge fan of Ben Howard for years but I was really disappointed.

My friends and I were incredibly disappointed that Ben Howard didn’t play any of his older songs. He also had zero stage presence and maybe said a total of 20 words to the audience the entire time. Honestly I’ve never been to a concert that was so boring and low energy, the people beside us were sleeping most of the time. Overall it was very disappointing.

    Ben...what happened?

    by Steelersfan22 on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

First I have to say I saw Ben I few years ago at Massey Hall and he was incredible! I was hoping to repeat that experience with my best friend and her daughter (who also love Ben but have never seen him live) I bought tickets and dressed for the October 5th chilly concert at Budweiser Stage. We left halfway through the encore completely dissapointed. It was like I went to watch a shell of the artist I had seen once before. First of all Noonday Dream, his new album, is a boring monotone album. The best way I can describe it... it makes you feel “nothing”, much like his showmanship at this concert. He chose to play his entire new album and leave the audience begging to hear something they actually came to hear. When he finally did play “Small Things” & “Forget Where We Were” (the only 2 songs he played from his other albums) it was like he played them to match the songs from his new album because they came across emotionless and blah. With the encore came ppl had a glimmer of hope he would play the songs they were craving. Sadly he chose not to which left ppl heartbroken and walking out before the encore was over. Dear Ben ... I know you are in there somewhere. Come back!!

    Amazing musician with unique sound

by SherJ on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

Ben is an amazing artist, guitar player and singer. A 9 piece band with big sound that is totally unique to any one else.

    So underwhelming

by Balln on 2018-10-08Budweiser Stage - Toronto

It was 2 degrees out, but I wanted to stick it out because I love Ben Howard. He didn’t play a single song that I knew (I don’t like his new stuff so I didn’t know it). I thought maybe he would play something we could all dance to by the encore, but I was sadly mistaken. It would have been great to get up dancing to keep warm, but his new stuff is all mellow and dark. He barely spoke and didn’t even seem into it himself. His voice does sound good live however I was really disappointed in the show.

Definitely would not recommend. Not only did Ben Howard not play any of his old song (songs that most of the audience came to hear), the songs off his new album all sounded very similar and it was hard to tell which from which. The reverb and distortion made everything sound muffled and incoherent. Waste of money.

    Ben Howard doesn't disappoint

by mamatocasey on 2018-09-27Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

This is the 4th Ben Howard show I've seen and although the weather was terrible for the venue (Deer Lake) Ben Howard was still phenomenal. His new record sounded amazing live.

    a bit dissapointing

by indielady on 2018-09-25Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

Despite a rainy evening, there was a good turnout at the beginning. Unfortunately, the rain picked up near the end and the crowd started to disperse before the concert was over. Was it just the rain? I know Ben Howard for great vocals and awesome lyrics, usually combined with great guitar playing. It seemed like the back-up band ( 9 or 10 musicians) seemed to overwhelm the vocals and the focus of many songs became the instrumental parts rather than the songs to the point that recognizing some of the live versions was difficult. The crowds enthusiasm seemed to dwindle as the night wore on so maybe by disappointment was not my own.

parking was ridiculous ($40 for 1.5hrs!), the show was boring. Couldn't see a thing because Ben was sitting the entire time. Many people (including myself) ended up sitting on the floor halfway through. He played 1 song from his older albums and didn't say a word to us until the very end. Disappointing performance.

Didn’t play any of his old tracks

    by Jbos84 on 2018-09-24Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Went to hear new and old stuff. However he chose just to do his new stuff. Kinda a bummer. Still an amazing artist. Just a little disappointed.
