About

Legendary New York-bred singer-songwriter Billy Joel has toured only sporadically in recent years, but fans have plenty of opportunities to score tickets to see him in concert going forward -- if they're willing to head out to New York's Madison Square Garden. Joel signed an open-ended deal with MSG that will have him playing a concert at the venue once per month for as long as there's demand. And demand has never been a problem for Joel at he historic New York venue; he played his first show there in 1978, and had logged 46 concerts at the arena by 2013.
New York isn't alone in its love for the singer. Joel has long been established as one of the top-grossing touring artists in the U.S., and has sold more than 150 million records over the course his four-decade career. After recording a long string of hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "Just the Way You Are," "You May Be Right," "Pressure," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire," and  "The River of Dreams," Joel decided that he was done writing pop and rock songs. It's a decision he's stuck with; it's been more than 20 years since he's recorded a new pop or rock album. He's composed new classical material instead, while continuing to play songs from his catalog in concert.

  • Billy Joel & Elton John was absolutely amazing.

by Patti2 on 2009-07-12The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Most incredible concert. Each did long performances and then together. The length of the show was more than I expected. I attend many concerts, and this was the longest, and probably the best. Our seats were not in the best location, but that's ok.

It was an incredible concert. Both Billy Joel and Elton John were amazing. It was great value for the money. I also saw their last concert together. I would certainly go to a repeat concert in the future.

The show was absolutely amazing. I would have paid twice the ticket price to see this show. These two are truly in the elite of piano players and entertainers. Elton may have lost a few steps and Billy may not have as much hair as early in his career but to entertain a crowd these guys have still got it " Way To Go GUYS" . And to the rest of the bands what can I say but GREAT JOB !

I was forced to give my ticket away just before we were ready to leave for the concert. Work came in to play!! Person that went in my place said it was simply awesome. I guess work comes before play.

  • Billy and Elton..once in a lifetime!

    by Weave72 on 2009-07-12Quicken Loans Arena - ClevelandRating: 5 out of 5

Billy Joel and Elton John have been favourites of mine for years. I just associate so many of my life events, and emotions with their music. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would see them both LIVE, at the same time! This night was magical....a memory that I will never forget. They performed many of their hits, and a few real oldies that only true fans would recognize. Their band(s) were outstanding! 3 1/2 hours of good old music, nothing fancy. Only true legends like these two men could pull that off. Thank you Billy and Elton for your songs.
