About

Blue October are an alternative rock band originally from Houston, Texas. Led by brothers Justin Furstenfeld and Jeremy Furstenfeld and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Delahoussaye since their formation in 1995, Blue October has released 11 studio albums, with their latest, Spinning the Truth Around, split into three volumes unveiled between 2022 and 2024. Following initial chart success from their 2003 single “Calling You,” Blue October’s fourth album Foiled (2006) broke the band into the mainstream with back-to-back platinum-certified singles “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean.” Foiled became the group’s first effort to chart on the Billboard 200 and kicked off a series of six consecutive Top 10 full-length releases on the Top Rock Albums chart, including No. 1 debuts for Any Man in America (2011) and Home (2016). The band has logged 13 Top 40 singles on the Alternative Airplay chart such as 2008’s “Dirt Room,” 2018’s “I Hope You’re Happy” and 2024’s “Everything We Lost In the Fire."

  • Fantastic show! Exceeded my expectations

by Dee on 2024-04-18The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Blue October sounds so good live! They put on a great show and have such talent! The venue at the Danforth music hall was perfect. I enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere. Justin, the lead singer and Ryan, the violinist came out after to sign merch as well which made the show even better! They are not pretentious at all. I LOVED everything about the show except that I couldn't always see because there were tall people in front of me and I am short. I was in row L on the floor. I can't wait for Blue October to some back to Toronto. I will be there!

What a show! Technically, they were excellent. The mixing was great, everything sounded amazing. The performance was electric... I wasn't expecting to be brought to church but there we were. Bloody fantastic!

  • A Blue Night at the Theatre

by False Compass on 2024-04-16The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Punched out at work and picked up my coffee at Station 1 Coffee shop in Grimsby and hit the highway for the slow ride to big T.O. These are certainly interesting times as a audiophile, just got on the Spotify train and I'm liking the ride. Listened to the career spanning mix of Blue October and even after the 20 years as a fan Foiled and Approaching Normal speak to me the most. I was more than eager to catch this band at this beautiful venue, the Danforth Music Hall. The Danforth in general is a nice departure from the claustrophobic of the downtown core of Toronto. The weather outside in the line a bit damp, a bit gray and a bit windy. Inside the venue though was filled with rejuvenation. Has been a couple years since my last show, Silversun Pickups, at the hall. It was clear to me instantly that work had been put into the venue and the space was ready to host a music loving crowd. For the opening act I stood in the merch line that snaked it's way through the outer halls sipping on a Jim Beams hard ice tea. Purchased a new T and pulled it over my head, now ready for the show. Get to my seat in the balcony kind of centred, for the best sound possible. Blue October hit the stage to the roar of a crowd that was just as eager as I am, but I'm sure for reason not exactly like mine. There was a lot of new and newer music played which is definitely a much different light than the albums mentioned above. Was easy to feel Justin ( the singers) happiness radiating off the stage, glad things are going well for him. They did Say it, Hate Me, Into the Ocean, Calling You, and Fear ( this showcased for sure Justin's strength as a singer). The complexity of the drum patterns is something of a recent appreciation I've taken away from prepping for this show. Another thing I've noticed about Blue October is the ability to adapt to the times musically but still keep something that you can mistake for another band. The mix of the violin was probably my number one question, how will that turn out? Turned out amazing and complete with a violin solo. Ryan will have you singing along to the melody of the violin to Say It, that's for sure. There was a complete stripped back acoustic moment and some humour when a lady kept screaming for 'Dirt Room' between songs, Justin was like, I heard you!. You can't always get what you want, but I did get a great show from Blue October.

From the first song, Blue October had song after song that was awesome live. I loved that they looked out at the crowd smiling and taking in the energy from the fans, loving us as much as we loved them. The energy, enthusiasm as well as the emotion in the music was incredible. This was my first time seeing them live and I will definitely see them again. A must see!

  • Amazing Concert

Blue October put on an Amazing Concert! We have always loved their music. The lyrics to their songs have touched our hearts in so many ways. The musicians are all so talented and play with so much passion you lose yourself for a few minutes into the songs. We love Justine and are so happy he has been able to Get Back Up! We have never been to one of their concerts before and this one did not disappoint. The venue was really nice and the audience was great. Everyone was singing and dancing and no one seemed to mind two seniors bopping right next to them all night! Thank you for the wonderful night.

  • Amazing intimate experience 🤟

by Nick on 2024-04-15The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

To my surprise I had bought front row tickets so the show was extra special. In that small scale area though, it would have a been a real treat for anyone who attended. Blue October turned out to be much better than expected. Hope they tour again this way.
