    Boz still sounds great

by Loops on 2014-10-13River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

We enjoyed the Boz Scaggs concert very much. Boz's voice seems to be as strong as ever. The band & back up singer were also very good. The River Rock Casino venue is good acoustically & also comfortable.

Boz still hits all the power notes

Amazing guitar throughout show. Boz still hits all the power notes. Was like listening to record from 1976! Great mix of classic & new music. Encore represented talent in entire band

    Boz is improving with age.

by Dukefan on 2014-10-12Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Aside from the yahoos in the crowd that kept yelling "play the old stuff" it was an awesome concert. While most fans would know Boz Scaggs from his early success of Silk Degrees, Down Two Then Left, he certainly is putting out great tunes that are NOT forty years old. His Memphis CD shows that his voice and musical creativity continue to improve. He also is travelling with a smoking band. Great musicians and vocalists in their own right. I am sure that some of the crowd went home disappointed and listened to Lowdown on their 8 tracks to chase away their blues- the rest of us loved the blues that Boz has mastered.

Boz is a Pro from start to finish!

by focuskid on 2014-10-11Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Boz entered the stage and got down to business almost right away. He knew we were there to listen to his music and he delivered like a pro. His 6 piece band was made up of seasoned musicians and their performance was impeccable.

Not worth the price. Boz himself is amazing for his age but not so for the supporting cast. The Bass guitar was way too loud, drowned everyone else. The saxophone player for sure played a few wrong notes. The few old hits they did do were very good. Generally they just played too much of the new and not enough of the old.

Fantastic show. Great performers and musicians. Nice to see a performer from this era who has taken care of himself and his voice. Loved his female co-singer too-lots of energy!

The man Boz just gets better with time

by AnotherAgedRocker on 2014-10-10Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Another great concert from Boz Scaggs. We saw him in Calgary 4 years ago - that was great, this was better. He started with a few songs from his latest (2013) CD & I thought they were excellent. Of course, some clown had to yell out wanting the 'old stuff'...duh! The musicians supporting him were first class & he was humble enough to give them ample time to showcase their talents. He played the encore really well & brought the audience to its feet. The band's version of 'Can You Loan Me a Dime" was sensational. He gave 2 encores. I hope there wasn't a 3rd, because we had to leave. The usual clue that a band has finished is that the house lights come on & they hadn't when we left the hall....oh dear. The only downer I would say was the woman singer when she was given a solo song. I just don't like that form of screaming & yelling, though I 'm sure she has a great voice somewhere in there. I don't recall Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan or the rest of that great era ever having to shout.....

From the first bar of the first song to the end of the second encore Boz was great. Sound levels were perfect and the performance was flawless.

A triumphant Return by Bluesman Boz Scaggs

by Jamio on 2014-10-10Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Strong set, excellent body of work, great sidemen and back up singer had an exceptional voice. Boz interacted well with the audience and plays extremely well himself, and of course he sang well.

    Boz Scaggs Calgary

by BigB6958 on 2014-10-10Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Well I went with no expectations so I was not disappointed. That being said I left feeling like something was still left on the table. He played for about 90 min total including 2 encores. But he did not play several of his hits, which I REALLY missed (Jojo / Love, Look What You've Done to Me / Breakdown Dead Ahead). He played a lot from the new album, which was great. His band was almost overpowering at times, drowning him out. His backup singer was almost annoying at times. BUT, it was Boz Scaggs and when he played "Loan Me A Dime" I was mesmerized. What a great song! Would I pay to see him again - no. But I am glad for the experience and happy I went anyway.

    Great show, tight band

by Somedaysoon on 2014-10-10Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I really enjoyed Boz Scaggs. His banter between songs was articulate and thoughtful. His own musicianship and that of his 8 piece band was outstanding. There was an excellent balance of new material and old favourites. My only disappointment was that it was over too soon. He did not have a warm-up act, and I was OK with that. Why not jump right in? He was the reason everyone was there!

    Great Show!

by TPaul on 2014-10-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Great concert. Scaggs was in fine form, voice as good as every (sounded even better than the last time I saw him a couple of years ago). The band was tight, and the performance of "Loan Me a Dime" was the highlight of the night (even better than classics like Lido or Lowdown). Note there is a healthy dose of songs from the album "Memphis" (hence the tour name) which suited me fine as it is his best album since Silk Degrees in my mind. The crowd was a little quiet for this, probably not as in tune with Scaggs more recent releases. Overall a really nice evening of blues and rock.

Boz Scaggs in concert in Edmonton was a fantastic performance! I really don't understand why Mr. Scaggs isn't sold out in advance! His female backup singer was phenomenal.

    Boz Scaggs was forgettable

by Bigscore on 2014-10-09Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

A couple of old classics wasn't enough to carry the show! He played for one hour and we the trained seals brought him back for a 2 song then the final one song encore. Miss Monet was a disengaged distraction. He omitted my favorite,Slow Dancer!
