BRANDI CARLILE IN CONCERT:

Alt-country sweetheart Brandi Carlile has crowned Billboard's Top Folk Albums chart twice since her 2005 debut, and it's easy to see why as she performs her heart-rending tunes in concert. Carlile is a world-class belter, and the perfect way her voice cracks when she goes big makes visceral tunes like "The Story" and "The Eye" all the more powerful. Country and folk are squarely in her wheelhouse, but she also dabbles in styles as diverse as rock, R&B, and blues, making for a dynamic concert experience anchored by her elegant songwriting and emotive voice. Whether she's performing songs from 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter or making jaws drop with her soaring cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Carlile never fails to impress ticket buyers with her poise, gorgeous voice, and good-natured stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brandi Carlile was born and raised in rural Washington state, where she began performing with her mother and brother at age eight. She taught herself to play guitar, and by her teens she was penning her own songs and singing backup for an Elvis impersonator. By her twenties she was performing in Seattle's music scene with her twin brothers, and in 2004 she signed with Columbia Records. Her self-titled 2005 debut topped Billboard's Folk Albums chart, introducing fans to her powerful voice and heart-on-sleeve songwriting. She teamed up with legendary producer T Bone Burnett for her 2007 sophomore album The Story, with stellar results -- the album peaked at No. 10 on the rock charts and scored a breakthrough hit with its title track. Since then Carlile has toured extensively and released four more acclaimed albums including 2011's Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony and 2015's The Firewatcher's Daughter.

Unbelievable! Brandi Carlile blew me away. It was a solo performance but felt as though there was a full band. Her voice is phenomenal. Coupled with her stage presence and down-to-earth personality, this has been the best show I’ve been to in a long time.

  • Brandi & the twins show how it’s done.

    by BH88 on 2018-06-11Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Straight up great performances. Brandi & the twins have been favourites since 2006. Massey Hall was a perfect venue for the tight harmonies, acoustic guitars--everything. A lot of repertoire from the new album, plus some older selections that were crowd favourites. Too bad they were only doing 1 night--i would have gone again.

  • Brandi and the boys were Amazing!

Exceptional raw talent! Emotion provoking performance, energetic entertainers with an obvious passion and appreciation for their fans! I absolutely love Brandi's music, love her talented vocal range, the chemistry with the band and especially the story-telling style lyrics... Pure Poetry! Wish she'd come to the east coast for a show! Halifax, NS is beautiful Brandi, please consider? My girlfriend I flew to New Hampshire to see Brandi 2yrs ago at the Ballroom Casino for an amazing performance and just had to fly to Toronto this weekend for a repeat. We would absolutely see her again! Thanks for a great show!

Massey hall is a great venue although in the balcony the view is not the best. Brandi and band were fantastic.

  • Amazing!! She rocked the Danforth!

by jska on 2015-05-30The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Brandi rocked the house! Played lots of new stuff but included a few earlier tunes. Such great harmony with the twin backup singers! Loved her cover of Hozier's "Like Real People Do" and Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain". And her opening act was mesmerizing! Anderson East is a new favourite of mine.

  • She held nothing back

Great 2 hour roller coaster of music. With songs rangers my from all out rock with power guitar solos to sweet country ballads and everything in between, Brandi moved effortlessly throw them all with ease and humour and insight added in between each. I will be there anytime she comes to town

Ahhh, what a wonderful show!! Lovely voice, great venue, played everything you'd expect as well as some covers (Let it Be and Folsom Prison Blues). All in all a very talented artist and a must see...count me in for the next gig!!

  • Awesome show.

    by Gadg8man on 2009-10-05Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a huge Brandi Carlile fan for about 3 years. I travelled from Eastern Canada to NYC to see this show and it was absolutely worth it. From the opening a capella track, I was unable to speak, just wanting to soak it all in and not miss anything. The band was tight and the performance was flawless. My only complaint was that they didn't play long enough, I realize that they have to end somewhere, but the mainstay material like, Follow, Downpour, and Closer to you should not have been overlooked. Other than that is was fantastic. Brandi's on stage humbleness and genuine conversation, made the show feel like it was happening in your living room. This was my first time at the newly renovated Beacon Theatre, the acoustics were excellent and the decor and feel of the place was breath taking in its self.

  • Loved this show!

Brandi Carlile puts on a great show. She is amazingly talented. Her songs, which she writes are great from slow to rocky. Her voice is unique and perfect. She is fun and into interacting with her audience. I have seen her twice now and will not miss her EVER.

I am a fervent follower of the buddy system, but when I couldn’t a date for the Brandi Carlile show I wouldn’t let my lack of plus one to stop me from going. Wise decision, Brandi and the band did not disappoint! The raw emotion and power of the vocals and the beauty of the music (in particular Josh’s cello playing) brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my lips. Thank you Brandi and band!
