Good Sound, But...

The band can still rock and the sound is still as pure and authentic as they have always been. In fact they sounded as good live as they do on their albums. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met with the singing of lead vocalist Jason Scheff, who was continually off key and way too loud. Although he has been the replacement for Peter Cetera since 1985, and was hired to mimic Cetera's original sound, it's very surprising how little he actually sounded like the original. We were very surprised by this and sadly we found that every time he sang vocals the memory of the song was tainted for us as we hoped for better. Many times it was like he was screaming. "Saturday In The Park" for example, was sung by another vocalist and was very close to the original. The band and their sound was excellent, and sounded like they came right out of the '70s. Great horns, percussion, and smooth integration of the instruments was amazing. The show was very good, had a good set list of memorable hits, but again, a small disappointment with the overall show was with Sheff's vocals. But then we thought what can we expect after the longevity they have had, as things certainly have changed. I would recommend the show if it comes to your town and you want to reminisce!
