Animals - Outstanding!
by Samnjaz on 2016-04-18Massey Hall - TorontoI've 'done' at least 75 concerts in my time, including Floyd at Ivor Wynn Stadium in Hamilton back in 1975. It was the final show of their North American Wish You Were Here tour, they started the first set with "Sheep" and "Dogs" -- neither song hadn't even been released until 2 years later. That was the last time I heard Pink Floyd live.....until April 15 at Massey Hall!! Note for note, tone for tone, breathe by breathe - completely perfect! The full album followed by an intermission and then a dozen winners to fill out the second set. This band completely blew the doors off in every possible way, and they seemed to do it so effortlessly...The vocals, harmonies, and even the sound of catching breath between the lyrics were so surprisingly dead-on that if you closed your eyes (which I did several times), you'd swear you were listening to the studio album master. Despite the wonder of it all, the highlight for me, and I'm sure many others, was the Great Gig in the Sky. It was performed flawlessly, note for note; the singer was positively pitch-perfect and I was so emotionally drained and flowing in tears by the end of the song -- it was a privilege to be so touched and moved by this women's exquisite voice -- truly a god-given gift!
