show was good again, seen them last time they were here, should perform at a better venue, viewing was difficult if you were not at front or against one of the upper railing. I know this band would perform even better a a larger and better venue
Wicked show at the Opera House. Jammed packed as the last time, couldn't move in there, it was an awesome show. Band sounded super tight, guitar player is simply amazing. Over 900 jammed in the Opera House is unheard at that music hall. I heard they had over 750 people for the afternoon show too, as I was in line for the night show people were still leaving. It's a real shame people use this forum to bash shows. After 1,650 people through the doors in one day, I guess your gonna get a handful of people that will always complain. But some of these complaints sound way too intimate and personal, sounds like thier jealous !! Can't please everyone I guess. But Ticket Masters website is not in my opinion the best way to do it. Can't wait to see the show again when they come back to Toronto.
I am a 24 year old from Ontario and not a Pink Floyd fan. I did see 2 other bands before and i was put to sleep. Comfortably Numb was an exciting show that got me up and rockin all night! And the lead singer/guitar guy is HOT as heck!. I left wanting to listen to pink floyd so when we got back i turned on my roomies cd and was bored to tears, so yeah not a floyd fan but comfortably numb does something so wonderful to this music that it comes alive from the comatose state that pink floyd seem to do their live cds. Comfortably Numb rocks enough that I am going to Montreal, and did i say how hot the lead singer guy is!
This was an amazing show all the way through. The female on great gig was simply mind blowing. the guitar player singer fellow was awesome as was the whole band. I enjoyed the way the singer got us involved in the show, other bands don't do this at all. great show and i would go again and again
After much build up and anticipation...I was VERY disappointed in both the quality of the music and the lack of showmanship of the band. They seemed tired and lethargic (maybe the matinee show just prior wore them out) vocals from the bass player were at times inaudible..my impression was they were stumbling through as many numbers as possible to get the whole thing overwith. They did not engage the audience ...just walked on stage 40 minutes early and started playing....for me the whole thing came off as a bad karioke performance,
Enjoyed it immensely. very good band Could have done without the general admission standing room, would like to have seen the show in a sit down auditorium setting.
Comfortably Numb consider themselves a "Pink Floyd Tribute Band". Well isn't a tribute band supposed to make you feel like you're listening to the real artist? Yes, but that was far from the case with this group. Sure you can play Pink Floyd songs, but that doesn't make you a tribute band. First of all, they didn't even sound like Pink Floyd. I mean, not at all. Floyd have 3 members who sing, and the one singer in this group failed to sound like any of them. The guitar player was way off on the rhythms of many songs, particularly "Money" which even an untrained musician could realize was being played wrong. The guitars solos also lacked the sound I associate with Pink Floyd. It's fine for the player in question to just play the solos exactly as heard on record, but this guy chose instead to venture off and do his own thing. Again, I don't mind this in some cases, particularly the guitar player from Classic Albums: Live and his own Floyd band Eclipse because when he decides to improvise a solo or part, it still sounds like something David Gilmour would do. The player in this group didn't play at all like Gilmour. One minute he's be playing the regular solo and the next he'd be doing Eddie Van Halen-esque shredding. It was just off-putting and made me further realize how unauthentic they sound. Another problem is that they were just plain amateurish. The presentation in particular was poor. For one thing the light show. I wasn't bad necessarily, it was just nothing better than you'd see at any night tclub and failed to evoke the visual wonder that Pink Floyd did with their shows. The other problem was the screen. Pinl Floyd shows were famous for their large, round screen that would have images and movies projected onto it that were in sync with the music. Here they had the screen, albeit in a smaller form, but failed to use it. They chose to only use it for two songs of the whole show actually, the opening song "Breathe" which featured the simple Prism cover of "Dark Side Of The Moon", and on "Sheep" where they projected a cringe--worthy powerpoint slideshow of pictures of sheep that it appears they simply saved off of Google Images. The playing itself was a amateurish aswell. It wasn't terrible, they could play through all of the songs, but it lacked the sophistication of the real things or other better tribute acts. As I mentioned the guitar playing was off, but so was a lot of other things. The drum rhythms were simplified in many spots, and downright wrong in others. A lot of times certain instruments were missing, such as the saxophone for "Money", and every song had a definitive stop unlike true Floyd which brilliantly segues from one song to the next with little breaks, or the case of this show the band addressing the audience. Even the name Comfortably Numb is just weird (this is just nit-picking). It just doesn't sound like a band name, unlike Eclipse, or Echoes, or Pigs Might Fly, or any other the other cliche names I'm sure other tribute pands pick. In the end Comfortably Numb weren't a total disaster. They played Pink Floyd songs which is I suppose what they claimed to do, but they sound more like a cover band in a bar than a full fledged, touring tribute act. If they were in a bar they would be perfectly enjoyable, but as they were they're just too amateur, too dull, and just don't sound good enough to charge $35 a ticket and play large venues. Stick to Eclipse: The Pink Floyd Story, or one of the Classic Albums: Live shows of one of their albums, they're far and away superior.
I saw this band at the Opera House a few years back and it was a great show. This time they are even better... all members played beautifully especially the Lead Guitar and the Female Vocalist. I am a major Pink Floyd fan and naturally will be critical of anyone doing their music.... but these guys pull it off and then some. I was confident enough to bring my Son and Daughter and their respective others and they have grown up listening to Pink Floyd. I would see Comfortably Numb again.
I loved it. If you closed your eyes, you would not know that Pink Floyd wasn't performing. The music and the vocals were spot on.
This was a bad experience from the go. When we bought the tickets we were led to believe the venue offered seating and varied ticket prices so we bought accordingly. When we got there we were told no seating, general admission, just find a place to stand in the crowd. I am fine with this if i know it from the start. The band technically was good but were uninspired, just stood there playing the notes. My husband and i decided after the show that it would have been better to have a drink or two there to make it more palatable to watch that show. The couple next to us left early, and we were frankly glad when it was over. Very very disappointing.
Went with my wife. The Opera House is a nice intimate venue. Great sound. Neighbourhood is fine. Nice mix of restaurants in the area. Note to Opera House first timers. This is a stand up venue (no seats). Definite negative for us.
Barely played any of their hits. Band sounded good, but song selection really needs to be re-examined. I would not go to another show.
A great affordable show. The lead vocal/ gutiar guy is amazing, and the female singer really does the original justice. The light show was amazing, and the sound at the Opera house was great.
Comfortably Numb is by far one of my favourite bands to see live. A phenominal tribute to probabaly one of the best bands of all time. Seen them a few times in Toronto, always packed sold out shows. A bunch of my girlfriends and I are making a weekend trip down to Montreal to see Comfortably Numb and go shopping. Highly recommend this show to anyone that loves Pink Floyd. This is the best sounding Pink Floyd tribute I have ever heard. Don't waste your money on other shows out there, I spent $84 to check out another tribute at the Sony Centre in Toronto and the show was awful. Sounded terrible and I left literally blind, flashy lights in my face for 2 hours was not in the plans. Can't wait to see Comfortably Numb Feb 11 ! Montreal here we come !!!
Just bought tickets to the upcoming concert at the Museum of Civilization, what a beautiful and cultural place to have a rock show, truly Canadian, I love it ! Comfortably Numb are one of my favorite bands to watch live. We never miss a show. Last time we saw them in Toronto at Danforth Music Hall, we can't wait to see them closer to home. I LOVE Pink Floyd but now when I hear Pink Floyd on the radio, I always picture Comfortably Numb playing the music live, Too Funny ! Everyone should check this band out, even if your just a fan of live concerts, you'll love Comfortably Numb :) This time they better have my T-shirt size, I wanna rock a Comfortably Numb shirt this summer.
My husband and I saw Comfortably Numb at Metropolis in Montreal and it was an outstanding show. Totally unexpected in terms of the quality of the show. We weren't expecting much as this was a tribute show, but we were both blown away, excellent band. Friends have always recommended checking this band out so we did and now we are big fans. We can't wait to see them next year, going to check them out in Ottawa at the Museum of Civilization with friends instead, sight see in Ottawa and then catch the show. We can't say enough good things about this show. Proud to be fans..:)
Close and your eyes and you'll think it's Pink Floyd on stage. After seeing Pink Floyd live many times, Comfortably Numb is the closest sounding tribute to Pink Floyd I have ever heard. I've seen other tributes roll through Toronto, but none as accurate sounding as this band. The musicians are incredible and play the music with the passion that Pink Floyd demonstrated playing live. I am truly looking forward to the upcoming Toronto performances.
The Opera House is going to rock once again with Comfortably Numb. I have never left a Comfortably Numb show disappointed. Awesome show, well worth the price of admission. Taking the family to the all ages show at 4pm and then going back for the evening show at 8pm...yes I realize I am going to both shows in one day but Comfortably Numb only plays in Toronto once a year. Can't wait
I saw this band in Montreal and again in Toronto, I do a lot of travelling for work and was fortunate to be able to land both these shows. To be honest my first time seeing them I wasn't expecting much as I figured 'how good could they be for only 5 poeple when some other bands have 9 and more?' BUT I was SO VERY VERY wrong as they were brlilliant. I have seen the other tributes to Floyd and some have been great but I always felt some of that true honesty was missing in the music, it seemed a little 'put on' and the show just not right. Comfortably Numb were as honest as I have seen, every note felt and meant. I have to speak about the lead singer/guitarist whom I felt was absolutely BRILLIANT and NAILED EVERY TONE! I loved that he played the solos in the way they were meant to be played, the live feel was just right. I loved his voice and his performance was truly stunning in every way, I really liked the true feeling like every note was felt within him, brought tears to my eyes. The female in the band played keyboards and simply was amazing in her performance of Great gig in the sky, all her vocals were amazing and there seemed to be an awesome connection between her and the lead singer. After the show the singer came out and greeted fans and what a humble guy, quiet and appreciative of all the fans there. Great band, and a wonderful show, great video, lights and sound. I highly recommend this to any Floyd fan and to any fan of music.
