Daryl Hall is a modern-day renaissance man, an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the star of his very own award-winning web series, Live from Daryl's House, as well as a successful venue owner with "Daryl's House," a restored venue and live music space in Pawling, N.Y.
The Philadelphia soul man is still achieving career milestones more than four decades later, continuing to perform with his band to sold out venues everywhere.
It's been quite a decade for Hall, including the opening of "Daryl's House," a combination world-class restaurant and performance venue, which he kicked off on October 31, 2014. The popular venue also serves as home base for his multi award-winning Live from Daryl's House. The show, which began as a "light bulb" moment for Hall when he launched it in 2007 as a free webcast, has set the standard for artist-initiated projects. The groundbreaking series provides a mix of legends and the next generation of superstars. "Live From Daryl's House" streams on Daryl Hall's YouTube channel.
Previous episodes of Live From Daryl's House have featured a diverse mix of veteran and new performers from rock, soul, country and R&B including rock legends Sammy Hagar, Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick, Tommy Shaw, Kenny Loggins, Todd Rundgren, Nick Lowe, Dave Stewart and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top; soul and R&B artists The O'Jays, Aaron Neville, Aloe Blacc, Kandace Springs, Elle King, Wyclef Jean, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green, Booker T & The MGs, and Sharon Jones; big-league singer/songwriters such as Ben Folds, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik and Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump; country artists such as Shelby Lynne; and has helped break new acts like Fitz & The Tantrums, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Neon Trees, Johnnyswim, Parachute and Anderson East. The latest episodes of the show feature Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, Blackberry Smoke's Charlie Starr, Andy Grammer, Lisa Loeb, Robert Fripp, and Howard Jones.
Daryl Hall has come a long way, and he's still got plenty of mileage left in a career that's taken him from the streets of Philadelphia to the halls of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The best is yet to come. For more information, please go to www.darylhall.com
What a great concert!! They came out for 2 encores! Their band is amazing. Lots of talent. Can't wait to see them again!!
This concert was awesome from start to finish! I was so happy they began with some older cuts from the 70's and being a fan since the 70's, I loved every song! They moved into their popular hits and the audience really responded. Daryl & John seemed to be having a great time as well. Their band is so talented. My husband & I have seen them probably more than 20 times over the years and they just get better and better. Their voices are amazing! We brought our kids (both in their twenty's) and they really enjoyed the show too! They did two encores, which was so cool!! I hope they come back this way soon. It is so great to see them in our own "back yard". Would love to hear some of their solo work live.
The concert was just the right mix of old and new.
They played 10 songs, and 2 X 2 song encores. 14 songs total. Not very long, just about 1hr 20 mins total. There were a few songs that they could have sung, but didn't. Their voices are still good, Daryl doesn't go for the high notes a lot, and has a choppy style to his singing now that sounds like he's out of breath. Song rhythms are changed a lot as well, from the studio versions.
second half was better than first part. only played for an hour and a half
I wasn't sure what to expect. I had watched Live @ Daryl's House so I knew Hall still had the vocal pipes necessary to carry off all of the beloved Hall & Oates tunes. But the concert was truly magnificent as the music was top rate. In the 80s there were some Hall & Oates songs that were too 'pop-commercial' for me but those tunes played during the night of the concert were far more impressive then the studio recorded versions from 30 years ago - mix of jazz and funk - truly worth listening to over and over. Well done! The only negative comment is that the concert was too SHORT! Was only just over 1 hour.
A great show of fabulous hits. Everyone in the band was great. Really enjoyed the show.
We have seen many, many great acts at Casino Rama like Don Henley, Carol King, John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett, etc. but this was not one of them. Perhaps the people setting up the sound system for the show should have actually sat in the stands because the sound was terrible. There was a loud drone to every song. It was so bad that I just wanted to run up on the stage and unplug all their equipment so that they were forced to play an acoustic set. Such a shame because we really like the material and the band is likely very talented but we sure couldn't tell from this show.
Wednesday night once again an aging boomerish crowd attempted to relive the days of padded shoulders and happy go lucky pop as Hall and Oates performed at the cavernous tomb called Rama No one expects that artists who are entering their Edsel years are going to perform in the same manner that they did 30 to 40 years ago and H and O were no exception, as Darryl Hall desperately tried, and failed, to hit notes that he routinely hit many years ago. This was most noticeable on numbers like "one on one" and "rich girl" were the anchor went over board but failed to catch. However, notwithstanding the odd time where this happened the boys were in great form, with a tight band that seemed to know when to step it up when there main boys were a little short. Darryl also deserves props for trying new ways to approach numbers were his voice won't go, reworking some tunes in a lower register and doing so in ways that complimented the song. Lest we leave John out, he too had his issues, but with the lower register, where his voice came out in a mumble that was near unintelligible, but he was able to hold his own when reaching the higher registers. As usual, his guitar playing was flawless melding in with his other band mates. And, toward the end of the second encore, it was apparent that the crowd was having......fun. Enjoying the pureness of pop that is Private Eye, with the crowd singing in a "damn aren't we having fun" manner. Highlights: It's a Laugh (an oldie from the red ridge album); Kiss on My LIst, Private Eye, Say its't So
Instruments louder than vocals. I enjoyed last years concert better.
Great Show ! Played all the HITS ! Great sax solos and musicians !
They played all of their big hits but also played some very good deep tracks. They also threw in some very entertaining jams. The band behind them was excellent. Very tight. And the sound man knew what he was doing. If they come to your town, go see them.
We've been Hall and Oates fans for years - this was the first time we've seen them and we were not disappointed!!!! Their voices are still strong and their band was outstanding. We had a great time and did not want the show to end. They came back and did two encores of two songs each - everyone left with a smile on their face humming their favourite tune!!!
They are one of my all time favourites from the late 70's and and 1980's. But the sound system at Casino Rama was not good and they were on stage of only 1 hour and 35 minutes including the walk offs for 2 encores. They played most of their hits but in 1 hour and 35 minutes, not all their hits but used up time and chose to perform "extended play" versions of the a few songs they did perform. Disappointing.
The band was tight, the music was awesome, Oates had his trademark bluesy voice and harmonies, but Daryl appeared to be 'punching the clock'. Talking his way through many lyrics we recall his great voice on. Also, ending the set only 65 minutes in sucked big time. Only persistent calls for encores by the audience pulled them back on stage to finish a set of just under 1.5 hours. With the depth of their music and a sold out house this band could have played a 2 hour set easily. My theory is that a band should play on stage for at least the amount of time it took for me to drive to the venue.
This show was better than I thought it was going to be and I thought it was going to be Great
great show, amazing back-up band...bit full of Darryl, who has lost his high notes...but nicely paced. Good show.
Excellent Show! Venue was great! Overall an Awesome Concert!
We have seen Hall & Oates four times now and this was by far the best. I just wish that at some point they would sing a song from "Our Kind of Soul".
Those guys are ageless!! They sounded great, excellent selection of songs, 2 encores, which is rare at Rama. Please come back!
