About

Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour

Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT

Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.

"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"

"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."

  • An experience worth remembering

2 out of the 4 comics on stage that night brought us to tears. Dave Chappelle & Rick Ingraham were truly hilarious. They were both edgy and really knew how to captivate the audience with their story telling. One person started protesting Dave’s trans jokes but wow did he dig into him/her (woman with a vasectomy?) before security threw her out. I was expecting to see more of that but that was the only “controversy” that night and seemed to be taken in stride by both the audience and Dave himself. You’re the best Dave Chappelle!

As expected the show was fantastic. Dave continues to be a master at his craft and I was so glad to finally be able to see him on stage. He obviously chose opening acts that he knew would set the stage for his great set. A great night of comedy.

I’ve been a fan of Chapelle for 20 years! So great to finally see him live! The openers were hilarious too!

  • Top level mid event

Love Dave Chappelle and was looking forward to the show. A lot of the opening comics including Dave interacted with the crowd a lot. Expected more of a comedy set but felt like a just for laughs type of vibe. Spent a lot of money on these tickets. Based on the show, it’s a one and done for me. The venue was terrible for getting people into the show and the lines were long. This had no bearing on the show, but it seems like a chronic issue for shows where phones need to be locked up. They should come up with a better system but it’s likely they don’t care.

I waited a long time to see Dave Chappell and it was totally worth the wait. The best comedy show I’ve seen! Two great opening acts, then non-stop laughs with Dave. My face hurt from laughing so much! I hope he tours Vancouver again :)

Great comedy show!, Chappelle did not disappoint! I didn’t know Jeff Ross was going to be there, that was an awesome bonus!🤟🤣

  • Ridiculous line up

by Themysteryfan on 2022-04-27Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Waiting outside 90 minutes in a long line to get into a venue is a terrible joke. If that’s going to be a regular occurrence count me out. It’s a good thing it wasn’t raining or people would have been furious. Missed most of Jeff Ross’ set. Chappelle was average I expected better material.

  • Hilariously Dave

by notamyschumer on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show with specual guest Jeff Ross and his other friend who I cant remember but hope he makes it big. Jokes were funny and relevant and Daves delivery was phonemenal. Daves DJ also got the audience hyped before the show. All in all a great experience. 5/5.

  • Disappointing crowd control

by Char on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

My partner and I arrived right on time; however, we were in line for such a long time that we missed the openers whom we were looking forward to seeing. Leaving the premises was also disappointing as there was only 1 staff with a device to unlock our phone case. Not the most pleasant experience as we were waiting for a long time outside then when the show's over, we were squished just to get outside.

  • Hour and a half in line

by Stanley on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The venue entry/exit was run so poorly, with such an issue with understaffing, that we waited over an hour to get into the building, missing a portion of the opening act. We arrived fifteen minutes before doors. Also leaving took at least a half hour and we were by the exit, also my bag was to small for my phone case taking a whole two minutes to extract it with 40 000 people waiting behind me. I’ll never go to another phones locked Rogers event. Also Dave’s show was “ok” jokes are tired at this point he needs new material. 3/5 is generous.

  • Dave Chappelle

by Melbin on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Dave is certainly a funny guy but does go too far past the point of taking reasonable liberties, more so than most big-name comedians normally do, in my opinion. Also thought his time on stage was disproportionate to the cost of the event. His requirement to have all phones put in locking pouches on the way in (and in reverse on the way out) was super frustrating, causing massive lines and huge groups of people shoulder to shoulder in confined spaces - no regard for the paying public. Been there, done that, won't pay to see him again.

I felt Dave didn’t perform as long as I would’ve wanted but it was a great show overall.

  • enjoyed every minute of it

by jay tea on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Chappelle's show was amazing - laughed so hard I almost peed myself. The whole "cancel culture" has really made it impossible to be "funny" or to make "jokes". Glad he didn't give in or conform to the woke shenanigans. I hope he comes back soon.

  • Great top to bottom

Show was slightly delayed but everything from the DJ to the opeening acts to the main show was incredible.
