About

Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour

Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT

Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.

  • Great show, long entry line

by Capnot on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Chapelle is always great. His view and take on things will forever be hilarious. Jeff Ross was a great MC. Getting into the building on the other hand left something to be desired. Very confusing of which lines went to which gates. Should have had personnel or fencing guiding people smoothly.

  • Best Show I've Ever Been To

by Kalirai on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Hands down the best comedy, if not best live show, that I have ever been to. Friends and I were hurting from all the laughing. All three comics were great. Jeff Ross was amazing, and Chappelle definitely lived up to the GOAT title. Amazing experience.

  • Worst Experience Ever

by Jenny on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

At the end of the (terrible) show, my husband and I found ourselves trapped in a stairwell in quite close quarters with other patrons trying to leave the building. There was a huge back log as Rogers Arena did not prepare properly to have staff ready to remove the cell phone bag lock. This time in the stairwell lasted over a half hour of strangers pressing against me and I suffered a silent panic attack which caused me to pass out against my husband briefly. Nobody would let us through to get air. Security actually walked by us (and by walked I mean forced their way through the crowd) and I watched one lady forcefully moved around - it was completely unsafe. I recognize that it was the Chappelle show that wanted a phone free experience (so he could make fun of trans people and whatnot but I digress) and not Rogers Arena but frankly you shouldn't be holding shows with that require phone free without preparing properly for not only event entrance (which was pretty easy to be honest) but for departure. It shouldn't take 45 minutes and a medical emergency that couldn't be treated to leave your building Rogers Arena.

  • Great show

    by Princess P on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the show. Chappelle was great! Liked there was no phones but process was very chaotic!

  • Awesome time and great crowd!

by Markey on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed the whole night and laughed so hard my stomach hurt! Really cool that 20,000 people came out to see one man! The audience was made up of different age brackets and nationalities and the common thread I think was everyone there to see Dave Chappell is sick of woke culture and not afraid to have a laugh at our differences! A very positive message!

  • Laughed so hard

by MissC on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Great show!! I have been a fan of Dave Chappelle since I was a teenager, it was definitely a bucket list check off for me! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thank you Dave 😊

  • Fun show, messy entrance

by Rod on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The performers were excellent and overall it was a really fun event, but getting into the venue was a bit chaotic. There was a lot of disorganization getting people in with their cellphone pouch. Recommendations is to have a few staff members pre scan peoples tickets along the line so when people get to the gate they just need to show the hand written ticket and get their pouch.

  • Amazing, he’s on the top of his game

by Rayday on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Top notch openers and main act. Well worth the price.

  • Fun night

    by Becca78 on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

The show it’s self was funny and good. The organization for getting into the area was absolutely ridiculous. Lined up for +40min to get into building. Once in the building it was decent to get around and find seats etc. The show had 2 openers. First was pretty funny, the second we didn’t watch. We went for drinks n snacks n looked around venue. Then Mr. Dave Chapelle came on. He had good material, and of course the usual beat/timing of punchlines and deliverance of jokes that we are used too since his early stand up from Killing em’ Softly. It was a good time.

  • Worst crowd management

by Codes on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

Spent close to 2 hours in line to get in. I understand phones aren’t allowed, but there needed to be better organization and management of that crowd. Even got there in what I thought was early, but not early enough to deal with the nightmare amount of other humans. Dave was ok. Definitely wouldn’t go through that again to see him.

  • Yonder

    by Laura U on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The younder phone holder made entering and exiting the arena a nightmare. Too crowded.

  • Amazing

That is why he is the GOAT. Mix all athe comedians, you got Dave Chappelle. Solid experience.

  • Awesome

by Heidi on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Such a great show! Dave and friends were hilarious and entertaining. The venue did a great with processing all the people and locking and unlocking the phone pouches. Also really enjoyed not having my phone for the evening.

  • Best show I have ever seen

by Sean on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Best show I have ever seen, Venue was perfect for it, Dave Chappelle is the best comic ever

  • Dave was awesome. Getting in was the worst!

by Jimmy on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Dave was amazing, so was his 2nd opener Marshall Brandon. Unfortunately we missed the first opener because we were caught in a 45 minute lineup to get into the venue (Rogers arena). Show = 5 stars. Venue = 1 star for being so unorganized and slow to get the crowd into the building.

  • Amazing show

by Jay on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Show was amazing, so funny our cheeks hurt from laughing! Definitely would go again.

  • Logistic nightmare

by RB on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

The entrance and exiting procedures were very disorganized and I guidance was provided by staff. People were cutting ahead and others were waiting in lines for no reason. Understand the difficulty in logistics for this type of show but venue should have been better prepared and gave forewarning.

  • Best comedy show in Vancouver

by Zee on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! I’ve got to a few comedy shows recently in Vancouver with some of the biggest names that have come to town. Dave Chappelle’s show was the best, Jeff Ross was a great opener too! I’ll definitely go see Chappelle next time he is in town too.

  • Poor planning

by EnglishBayDan on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

The show itself was great but if they are going to use Yondr pouches it MUST advertised more clearly to prevent the ABSOLUTE CHAOS it creates at the gate. We have experienced this before so we slid right in but for people who haven’t heard of this (or the newish bag policy) it takes time for people to wrap there head around the very idea of giving up their phone and purse little lone the physical act itself takes time. GET IT TOGETHER ROGERS ARENA!!!!!!!!!

  • Borderline chaos

by John on 2022-04-26Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Good thing nobody yelled ā€œfireā€ , or no medical emergency occurred during the entry/exit mayhem. Clearly, no crowd management was considered with implementation of the no-recording device program. The entry/exit experience completely overshadowed what otherwise was a great performance.
