About

Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour

Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT

Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.

"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."

  • What is dead may never die!

Dave Chappelle will never be cancelled in our hearts. His documentary is so touching. He is trying to do good in real life. He could have easily just sat comfortably in his mansion during the pandemic but he tried to help give gigs to roadies and comedians, boost tourism in Yellow Springs and make people laugh in a safe environment. His comedy is his performance so it should be separated from all the good things he is doing and has done. He is very funny and smart and charismatic. You can sense though that there is some sadness from him because of all this unnecessary backlash. It was a wonderful night. Thank you!

Great show, good set up, safety protocols in place. Overall great content and loved seeing the acts and the film.

  • Amazing!

    by V. B. on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was a dream come true seeing this show live. Jeff Ross & Sam Jay opened - hilarious. The movie was very good, funny and emotional. Kardinal Offishal was the musical guest. Dave came out at the end and did about 40 minutes of jokes, which was more than we expected and very well received. He is the GOAT and I will definitely go again when he returns to Toronto.

  • Dave Chappell at the Scotia Bank Arena

by Shannon on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing show. The movie was fantastic, the stand up was out of this world. Dave did two sets … about 45-50 minutes total plus Jeff Ross warmed up the crowd for 30 min. Sam Jay had a strong set. DJ Trauma did a good job prepping the audience for the comedians. And you can’t forget about Kardinal Offishall performance. Unbelievable night, definitely a bucket list experience. Thanks Dave et al I won’t ever forget that night.

  • Strong performances all around. Documentary was weakest link

When Dave spoke, I laughed. When his guest comics spoke, I laughed. When the documentary was on...I fell asleep a couple of times and tried to enjoy it.

  • Great comedy, Boring Documentary

by Tala on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

the documentary is Netflix worthy, not >$80 go to an arena and stand in line and get security checked worthy. However, Jeff Ross was the MC and he was great and the little time Dave spoke with the audience was worth the trip.

  • Great show overall

by Chris on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time! Dave Chapelle is a legend to say the least… Overall it was a great show however the documentary could have been a bit more Polished

  • Comedy Gold / Doc bla

by Big fan on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The comedy was amazing. Truly hilarious. However The doc was too long and should have been screened at the beginning and publicized that way. Also needed intermissions. And for Pete's sake just 2 or 3 songs by Kardinal not literally everything he's made

  • Horrible

Great energy, guest made this event into a party not just a documentary screening. Dave is such a professional, best talent there is out there right now - comedic genius. If you have not already seen him live, please go and you will have a fun time!

  • Dave Chappelle

by Raydiggz on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

How lucky was I to be part of a historic event to witness the genius of Dave Chappelle! When this “untitled “ movie hits the general public, Everyone needs to see this and reflect on how C19 globally changed us all!

  • Could have been shorter

by Doug on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The overall show was alright but the movie/film was an hour too long. It kept dragging on to a point where it was getting really boring. I would have preferred to see more of Chappelle instead of Kardinal Offishall after the movie ended and it would have been so much better if Chappelle had a longer performance instead of the measly 20 minutes of stage time. Jeff Ross was funny and brilliant as always, a good choice for the opening act.

  • Amazing!

by Carolyn on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved everything about this show! Dave Chapelle is hilarious. His movie was great. I thought the strict no phone policy was also very good. It was nice not to be distracted by other people on their phones. It also made me interact with my seat mates and I was fully invested in the experience of being at the show.

  • Great Experience

by Kiki on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Started a bit late, but didn't disappoint! Great Show! Wish the venue had more food and drink options. Otherwise, it was a good event.

  • Not Impressed

by Candice on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

I would have liked to see more of Dave Stand Up Comedy. I did not want to sit and watch a documentary for most of the performance

  • Terrible show

    by T. D. on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Total waste of money… very disappointing! I had high expectations and was extremely disappointed!

  • Kinda disappointed

by Angie on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The documentary was too long and he was not on stage enough.

  • Unhappy with the event staff

by Shaq on 2021-11-18Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The only issue I had was that the event staff directed other individuals to sit in the seats that I paid for, which was quite annoying. Once the staff corrected the error, those individuals were infuriated and spilled their drinks all over the seats before leaving. I made a complaint about it, and even though a staff member promised to bring a cleaner to my seats, nothing was done about it and I had to sit through the show in all that filth
