Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY
"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."
"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"
"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."

Amazing time at the show. Jammed pack event! Well organized and felt comfortable with Covid measures. Definitely will attend another event at venue.
I had a great time i hope he comes back to Toronto the music the vibe and seeing him live i will never forget the great time i had .
Dragged On. You sat there to watch the screening and then turned into a random concert. Terrible.
He is funny but why did he show a 1.45 hour movie at a concert and tell jokes for 30 mind. We were there for almost 5 hours! Ugh!
The event was great, outside of starting late the only other recommendation I'd make is to have the time visible in the auditorium. Our phones were locked away and we had no visibility to the time, and many of use take public transportation to the event. I ended up leaving the event earlier than I needed to because I didn't know what the time was.
I completely misunderstood the title of the show in that it was REALLY just a movie, with a bit of Dave Chapelle. I guess I didn't think anyone would charge up to $1000/seat for a movie screening! A documentary no less! I asked my seat neighbour and she was just as confused as I was. The movie itself was way too long and I couldn't tell what the point of it was. BLM? Covid related? A year in the life of Dave? I wasn't sure! Dave was out for about 20 min total and his rapper friend was out for over 30 min. I didn't come for a rap show! Needless to say, I was very disappointed, my bottom hurt from sitting for almost 5 hours and I didn't get enough laughs when I really needed some.
The show comprised of a 2 hour movie that was not anything close to comedic. Dave didn't perform for that long and in the middle actually had a poor performance by Kardinal Official...
4 hour show! It was a late night for a Monday but the show was fantastic featuring (over and above Chappelle and his documentary) a couple of great comics and local musicians. Great show and well worth the ticket price. Concessions at Scotiabank Arena are brutally expensive and unavoidable in a show this long.
Exceeded all of my expectations! The documentary has a very positive message that hopefully will eventually reach a larger audience. Dave is a living legend and I’m happy to say that I got to see him perform live.
So profound, it was an experience I will never forget. Dave Chappelle is a genius. I went on my own and I had the best time of my life. I ask everyone to not pay attention to what media is saying!Only one issue, wish we all received the masks…
The line up to get in to the venue was frustrating but once we access the venue and was seated I enjoyed the comics, the documentary and Dave’s live performance at the end of documentary. Happy I attended it dispelled rumours about Dave hating a group of people which is not true! Great comedian😀
This was MORE than a 'comedy show'. This was truly an experience. Dave Chappelle is only controversial to those who are not willing to listen and reflect on the message before their emotions take hold of their brain. You don't have to agree with everything he says (and will continue to say) - I certainly don't. But to deny the TRUTH of his words is akin to giving permission to allow the injustice and inequalities of our world to continue unchecked. Dave IS years ahead of his time and is simply not afraid to tell it like it is. The real question may be: Why are you all so afraid to hear it?
We knew it would be a screening, but the doc was way too long and political. Not enough funny moments and the climax was - the zoning board? Really disappointed because we love Chappelle and expected WAY more. And then… you bring out Kardinal after saying you’re going to do a “proper show”. The crowd wanted none of it. He was like a sad MC trying to get a crowd hyped that wanted none of it. He needed to play 6 songs??? You should have brought out more comedians! We want stand up comedy not a hack job like Kardinal trying to hype up the crowd with his features. Best part was honestly Jeff Ross in the beginning. Really feel like we were robbed of our money for this. - Lifetime Chappelle fan -
To see him live after so much time without live performances was extraordinary, he was great, the film was special and moving. Jeff Ross was incredible and the whole experience was just amazing! thank you
From the roast, to the openers, to the documentary, to the surprise live music, to Dave’s set, everything was amazing. This was a night to remember and I’m so glad I was able to attend!
Great opening show with funny comediens. Enjoyed the documentary. Dave did about a 30 min set afterwards which was hilarious. All in all it was apparent everyone in the stadium had a great time!
Opening acts were hilarious. Dave’s screening was deep. Oppression is deeply rooted in our communities and for someone who’s been impacted by it I can say I was moved by his message. There were tears, but Dave came on stage afterwards and lightened things up as per usual. WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Wish it was more time for the stand up rather than the long documentary which was long and boring
Dave Chappelle showed that he has love for all people, regardless of their age, skin color, and sex. Great show!
