About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • Best...Show...Ever!

    by Tori85 on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The DMB show was absolutely unforgetable. On the lawn with thousands of chillin fans, drinking beer and getting high. Dave Matthews played for 2 and a half hours including a sax, violin, drum solos and a 30 minute encore. Dave Matthews is by far one of the best live performers in the world.

  • DMB gets better every year!!

by Julzz on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I look forward to seeing DMB every time he comes to Toronto! His latest album (even though I only had it a week before the show to learn the songs) is fabulous, as usual!!! I'm never disappointed - it's always a great time, rain or shine!!!

  • Dave was AWESOME!

I knew that this concert would be amazing before even going, but every time I see them I still get those happy butterflies afterward and kept help but smile and sing.

  • Dave Mattews Band....Hypnotized!!!

by Ashes on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Though I have only seen Dave Matthews and his BAND, twice....both times I was hypnotized! 5 stars or amazing simply does not describe the talent this band has. I would recommend Dave Matthews band to those young and old. There is something for everbody at their shows. Their music has long touched me and my generation!! Seeing them live is always unforgetable. This particular show on June 9th 2009 was just another example of their greatness. Everytime the plucked a cord to the next song, the crowd, including myself went wild, knowing what greatness was to come next. Dancing freely to thier music, and belting out their lyrics will be memories that I hold close for years and years to come. Can't wait to do it all again and again. Dave Matthews and his band will never disappoint.......Keep on rocking in the free world boys, keep on rocking!!!! And a big thank you is deserved!

  • Dave was unbelievable as always

by MedicDan on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was possibly his best. Dave always puts on a unforgettable show, that one has to call more of an experience then a show itself. I cannot wait until Dave is in area again, and I guarantee I will be there when he is.

  • Good, Great, Awesome, Amazing!

by MAMorrissey on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Dave Matthews Band rocked Toronto, again! The sound was awesome. The weather was great. There wasn't a bad seat in the house! They played some old classic hits and a few newer unreleased tunes. The crowd was pumped! AND the venue staff (security, beverage peddlers etc.) were visible but not intrusive. One of the best times I've has at the amphitheatre in a long time!

  • Dave Matthews was absolutely epic!!!

Dave Matthews show was AMAZING! By far the best show I have been to, and I have been to a lot!! I am loving his new music. He just keeps getting better and better it's unbelievable! I wish they played more times in Canada within the year!

  • Great Expectations.....

by ellienewf on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Let me preface this by saying my husband and I love Dave Matthews Band and have been fans for a long time...We had been waiting years to see a concert, so needless to say we had the concert built up in our heads, great expectations if you will. We figured he would play some new stuff but also alot of the classics, we certainly did expect him to do a cover of someone else's music ( while nicely done)and we had hoped to here him sing a bit more. The insturemental breaks were great and highlighted the other musicians beautifully but there was a definite absense of Dave on the stage. While I would go to another concert of theirs, I would not reccomend going to a concert on this particular tour, however if you are a more recent fan of the newer stuff then you will love it.

  • DMB rocked the house once again!

by Garv on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been going to see DMB every year for the past 5 years and I can not imagine a summer without this concert. This year I was able to introduce my father and brother to Dave for the first time. My family is always going to concerts together and I have been wanting them to see DMB for years. I knew that it would be an amazing show and it truly was. They never disapoint the long time fans but yet always seem to grab the attention of anyone there for the first time. I would say that DMB is the group that you HAVE to see live. I would recommended this band to anyone who appreciates live music and a band who truly loves what they do.

  • Dave Matthews Rocks again!

by Pada on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

One year later, and we're seeing Dave Matthews for the second time at Molson Amphitheatre! Last years concert rocked, and we were afraid this year might disappoint, but it was even BETTER than last year! Dave continues to be funny and witty, and a genius in his musical and lyrical talent! Tim Reynolds is amazing on the guitar, and should be ranked as one of the all time best gutiar legends in the world! He is very much a gem! Leroi was missed this year, but the rest of the band more than made up for it with their extrodinary talent and jazzy vibe! The band played a great mix of great songs off of the Gru Grux King, a great cover of "Burning Down the House" and some old favorites, including one that is very close and meaningful to us in "Crush". I would go back year after year to this great venue to see Dave Matthews! Worth every penny and more!

  • DMB fantastic as always

  • Dave Matthews Band was GREAT!

by VETTECH on 2009-07-15Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I would prefer to hear more of their material as aposed to hearing each song dragged out to 15-20 minute jam sessions...this was my third time seeing DMB and I have still not heard Warehouse live.

  • DMB Rocks it yet again

teh show was off the hook, he played most of the songs from his new albums which were nice and also few of his older hits. Would recommend his show anywhere and anytime.
