About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • Dave Matthews Band is the best concert of the year

by dvalx on 2010-06-04Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

From start to finish you will not be sorry. Everyone in the crowd loves him, everyone is in the same boat. The music was spectacular! The atmosphere was amazing and you can't beat the amphitheatre on a beautiful summer day!

  • Dave is great even from the lawns

by Concertyoungvet on 2010-06-03Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

My first concert from the lawns at the Amphitheatre and Dave didn't disappoint. A typical long set with lots of jammin. Highlights were Don't Drink the Water (first song), Jimi Thing, and Stay. Definitely worth the price of admission.

  • We got rained out.

by LoloBean on 2010-06-03Darien Lake Performing Arts Center - Darien CenterRating: 2 out of 5

My family and I bought 4 tickets for LAWN and decided to go anyway even though the forecast said rain because it was supposed to rain until 9 or 10 and the show was scheduled to start at 7. They didnt end up going on til 930 and 4 songs in there was a torrential down pour sending us to find cover in our cars. Obviously they cannot control the weather but if they had started at 7 and forgone the opening band (who was not very good and unknown to anyone around us) then we could have enjoyed a concert. We also had to drive 2 hrs round trip to get there. My advice: dont buy lawn. Also we werent allowed to bring umbrellas or blankets inside the Darien Lake venue, are you kidding me??

  • The Dave Matthews continues to amaze!

by DCSB on 2010-06-03Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a show. Excellent sound, lighting, and the band was as tight as ever. I have seen their Central park concert as well as the one in Atlanta several years ago. The concert in Toronto was just as exciting. These guys know how to make the audience rock. I would love to see them again. Dave.

  • disappointing

Dave had no charisma, he was sarcastic and aloof to the crowd, and played all new material (with endless solos) without any nod to the dozens of classics that have made him loved and respected. I wish I hadn't gone - he lost at least one fan that night.

  • Amazing Night

    by cherry39 on 2010-06-03Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have never seen Dave Matthews Band live, nor have I heard much of their music, but was extremely impressed with the quality of the sound, the amazing capabilities of the band members and the awesome music they make. The venue was also fantastic, I would go there again

  • DMB Shines at Molson Ampitheatre

by Neewong on 2010-06-03Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Of all the concerts I have attended, both the venue and magnitude of the performance made for an unforgettable evening. Dave's voice was in fine form and as expected he exemplified grace and playfulness with equal panache. DMB plays as if their lives depend on it and deliver without fail. Every player in this band is an exceptional performer in their own right, from Boyd Tingley's frenetic & energetic fiddle virtuosity to Chester's powerful & solid drumwork..not to mention Tim Reynolds fantastic guitar, Stefan's backbone supportive bass, along with a formidable horn section....here is a band for the ages.... The set list included a good amount of his new Material from "Big Whiskey", but none of his other albums were ignored, allowing for a great array of "tunage"....truthfully, I would see this performer again without thought. The venue has to be mentioned for both acoustics, excellent security and a perfectly behaved crowd, but honestly who can be problematic at a DMB concert..the vibe is just so positive...and literally has people of all ages dancing in the isles..truly a fantastic time.

That was my fifth Dave Matthews Band concert and I'll NEVER get bored or regret going, they are so good, and full of energy. Stefan grooving, Carter smiling ... but no chewing gum this year, Boyd rocking, Dave dancing, Tim doing his thing, Jeff killing it!! he's no Leroi but with the help of Rashawn on the trumpet it makes up for it! The show was great, Dave's jokes between songs were funny and crazy as usual! I would have loved a bit more of the old songs but still it was awesome. And I'd go back and see them tomorrow if I'd have the money. LOVED IT!

  • Dave & Da Band Are Da Bomb!!!!

by Jadon on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome sound guy. Every part of the songs that should have be accentuated were. Only negative is that is was hard to get a drink of water at the theatre even though I heard that dave wanted water stations all over.

  • DMB is always a good show!

    by Bags8888 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Have been to over a dozen DMB shows and this one was "OK". While they always put on a good show, there are a few critiques I can make. First, the set list was good, not great. Given they're planning on taking a year or more off, I wanted a few more 'classics' in with the latest stuff. Second - how come I can't take a beer into the bottom level in front of the stage??? After paying over $10 for a can (you could put it in a plastic cup), I would think I could enjoy it at my "seat". Something the Molson Amp HAS to work on.

  • Not disappointed

by Ottawabunch on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

My first Dave Matthews concert – And I was NOT disappointed! Our group traveled by train from Ottawa; two having been blown away by this band last year in Montreal. This venue is well suited for Dave’s band. The stage / screen visuals were great, the sound system was great, and last but not least, the show was awesome by any standards!...They really delivered. We literally danced in between the seat rows all night. So, we have pledged to make the pilgrimage the next time they are within travel range…Hope that information I have heard about Dave taking a one year sabbatical is not true! Rock on!!

  • DMB in TO

by kdoo on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Dave and the crew are amazing no matter what. They played some old tunes including JTR and Recently. Great songs, more mellow than usual. I was however a little disappointed with how quiet the music seemed. I was on the lawn this year and you could talk without a problem over the music. I felt very disconnected from the show... I love DMB. I will obviously go see them again as this was the 8th time I have seen them.

  • by BK21 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome concert with a great set-list! I always enjoy the DMB and yesterday was no disappointment!

  • Worst DMB Concert in Toronto History!

    by mfost9 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I've been to 9 of them....this one was the worst. Very few classics, slow pace, too many new songs. Would have loved to hear Rapunzel (althoug he played it last time), crush, so right, everyday, #41, warehouse, Louisiana Bayou - anything but the crap they played. Boooo.

  • Exceptional Show

    by Dee54 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Worth the price of admission. Probably the best show and venue I've ever been to in my life. You won't be disappointed!

  • DMB Amazingly wonderful!!!!

    by greatshow100 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great performance! I've been wanting to see Dave Matthews Band in concert for years now. It was just as I had imagined. I recommend getting seats though rather then grass seats. There was a crazy amount of people, and being closer would have made the show even so much more amazing!!!!

  • Dave Matthews Toronto June 1 2010

    by Coll1 on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Having been a fan for years, but never having seen Dave live (because I live in Western Candaa and he rarely comes there!) I had the opportunity to see the show in Toronto and it was amazing! His band is amazing with Boyd Tinsley and Carter Beauford, Stefan Lassard and everyone else, including Tim Reynolds. I loved their recorded music, now I may have to listen to them live every chance I get...Dave Matthews Band Rocks!

  • DMB Simply the best

by Bouchibouchi on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The show was incredible, the weather was great and the place was packed! DMB is my favorite band and when the weather cooperates, the venues is perfect for the show.

  • Another Amazing DMB show!

by MichiP on 2010-06-02Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

To start it was a beautiful night at the Molson Amphitheatre. Clear skies, warm & balmy with a beautiful breeze. Perfect setting for rocking the night away with Dave and the boys. As usual, they delivered another night of unforgettable music and love. The crowd was on fire as was each of the band members. Boyd delivered some kick ass solo's. A great combination of tracks from Groo Grux and older albums.
