    Absolutely Amazing

by CrisCury on 2018-06-05Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The concert was FANTASTIC! Creative, artistic, amazing music, and the Byrne power is still 100% alive! I would do it all over again! Love the Brazilian drums which added that much more spice to the concert.

Byrne-ing the candle at both ends!

by Astroguy on 2018-05-28Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

A signature performance by David Byrne. High energy and sheer enthusiasm to perform by everyone on stage, which translated into enthusiasm in the audience. David danced like nobody was watching. People were on their feet by the second song. A great mix of songs from the new album and classic numbers. It was brave to perform "Lazy" as the second song, but the energy didn't flag. Bassist Bobby Wooten and the percussionists were outstanding, and allowed to hold their own in the sound mix. The guitar solo by Angie Swan was a show in itself. The simple choreography and lighting had a complex undertone. There were two impressive encores and the audience would have stayed for more.

On the one hand, David Byrne is entertaining...

by Andronicus on 2018-05-28Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Full points to David Byrne for choreographing an interesting show, and, at our date, people jumped up on the 3rd song and stayed up for the rest of the show. The set is interesting and, even though it is fully choreographed (you have a clear sense that the next show will be exactly like this one), the band still seems to be having fun. It seems petty to say this, given the quality of the show, but i did miss the spontaneous moments a concert can often bring. Still, it was fun, the songs were good, the set was cool, the percussion was fabulous, the bass player added some variety to the unity, and there was a lot of dancing going on.

    So much fun!

by Hangfire on 2018-05-27Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Not as experimental as I expected, but a great, entertaining show. It was wonderful that his new cd came with the purchase of the tickets, so that the audience knew all the music going in. Always great to be able to sing along. Highly recommend this show!

David Byrne - just freaking amazing!

by VictoriaFreddie on 2018-05-27Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

David Byrne and crew put on an energetic show of new and old music. I loved the way that his musicians were like a marching band and were part of the show in so many ways. If you get a chance to see him and his crew, see him! He never fails to amaze me.

    David Byrne Musician Extrordinaire!

by NicknameME on 2018-05-26Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

When I got the new CD, I was nervous, but I had faith that David is unique and his show would probably be amazing. IT WAS! The opening act was odd, the musicians could definitely play and sing, but their material was repiticious and just odd. As soon as the stage was reset for David, and the first few chords and drums started we knew we were in for a treat. The musicianship, dancing, energy and overall experience were awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and the whole audience was on their feet at the end begging for another song. So refreshing to see an artist really invested in his art. After seeing Joe Bonamassa just dial it in in Edmonton (his show really sucked), David, who seemingly has endless energy, really really perform a SHOW.

3rd time I’ve seen him over the years. Updates the show and makes it more memorable than the last.

    David Byrne is the man!

by RenoirsGhost on 2018-05-26Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

For all of us old geezers that were looking to relive some of the glory of the Stop Making Sense tour, Mr. Byrne did not disappoint! Wonderfully choreographed and performed this show proved once again that us old folks still have something to say! Well done Mr. Bryne, well done!

    Poor acoustics can’t spoil

by Gidon on 2018-05-26Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The sound in the back right Row 23 of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre was terrible. Luckily I love David Byrne and know many lyrics. Even his talking was inaudible.

    Incredible show

by violeta1 on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

One of the best shows I’ve been to in a while. Not only does David Byrne still sound incredible but all the musicians performing with him are also top notch. A true musical extravaganza.

The Best Concert of the Year.

by GCalgary on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We saw the show the other night. David Byrne was outstanding. His music has progressed, his voice is ageless, his dancing and choreography were outstanding. We all thought it was one of the best concerts we have ever seen. I sent my 27 year old son to see it in Vancouver. He loved it too. Go, just go.

Sound not up to the quality of the visuals

by douggg on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Visually this was a remarkable show. The bare stage without a single amplifier or cord in sight gave Byrne and his musicians and dancers room to create a fantastic piece of performance art. The lighting and choreography was superb. Too bad the audio wasn't up to par. Was there a problem with the wireless microphones feeding into the Jubilee's sound system? Was the distortion created by volumes being set too high? Or was it the location of my seat in the lower left balcony? I don't know but the vocals were almost incomprehensible. I knew the words to most of the songs and still found them very hard to distinguish. The drum sound from the six percussionists was good. The guitars and keyboards too. But the vocal sound was terrible.

    Fantastic show David Byrne

by Dooey502 on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I go to these things and want to hear the old smash hits. And I accept having to listen to new stuff, BUT David's new stuff was awesome. He did just a few Talking Heads , and it was fabulous , but it was mostly new stuff and I did not miss the old songs . PLUS the choreography was great , we had an indoor show and the set and lighting with shadows tho simple worked great.

Unforgettable evening with Mr Byrne in top form!

by PipR on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The real stars of this show are the musicians! Absolutely incredible performances, with Mr. Byrne in top form! The music is wonderful, stretching far back into his catalog of Talking Heads days as well as encompassing most of his recent album release! But what really sets this show apart from the others is the amazing, deceptively simple but incredibly beautiful set and even more amazing lighting design which are used to fantastic effect! In combination with Mr Byrne's creation of a show where all the musicians are completely free to roam anywhere on the stage, he creates an incredible choreography of movement and intrigue! There are a great many wonderful surprises and never a dull moment. It`s truly a unique experience and an absolute marvel to watch! Go see it! Now!

    Stunning Theatrical Performance!

by jimmjam on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

David Byrne never hesitates to bring a fresh light to his work, old and new. Having all twelve musicians/dancers stand and move in harmony with each other as they played created a unique (to my eyes) way to experience his artistic prowess. The musicianship and choreography were so good that the old Talking Heads tunes had the same modern feel as his wonderful new pieces. The sound was the best I've heard in a long time which made it all that more enjoyable. Benjamin Clementine, as the warm-up act, was creative to the point of absurdity - but still, someone to be appreciated for venturing where few dare to tread.

    David Byrne

by MrGC on 2018-05-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Amazing. Clementine was great as well. Although he may have found the audience too enthusiastic for his taste. As I saw in an interview he prefers a quieter response. Too bad this is what happens when you’re so great.

If you're thinking about going to this tour....Do it! I go to a fair amount of concerts and this was the most unique and one of the best shows I've ever seen! Cheers to Byrne and his band!
